      Alaska Pirates i just started this whole drone, videos, cameras this past March. I got the drone on March and I spent hours/days on RUclips researching. With that said, after lots of research, mavic air is great but the mavic 2 pro is worth every penny. You seem like me and very passionate so you will pick it up quick.

      Hi Alaska Pirates from Canada ....just subscribed to your channel, love your honest reviews! I am not a vlogger but enjoy photography and all the gadgets that come with it. I have both the Mavic Mini and the Mavic Air 2. I had the Spark before that so I have only been flying for a couple years but not extensively. Out of all 3 drones I find the Mavic Air 2 has been the easiest to fly. Yes the Mavic pro has a better camera but the Air 2 is amazing for half the price. Bottom line if your choice is between the mini and Air 2 - hands down go for the Air 2 you won’t be sorry!

    First great to see an update video on your gear. I watched your first video before buying the ulanzi lenses! As for using the iphone’s ultra wide, just a tip, the footage can get really grainy really fast. So shooting on uneven lighting can mess up the quality a little bit. I have the clip on 37mm ND. (Also sucks that the ultra wide lens doesnt have threads!!). As an alternative you can try shooting at a high fps, which you would then need to crank the shutter speed to a 1/240. It helps with the brightness a little bit long as youre not shooting outside, at noon! Lol lastly im also still not rulin out the possibility of a filter mount for the ulanzi cases. Keep on creating!!

    I agree with your slight hint of sarcasm about the 180 degree rule. I hear so so so many times that it is to get relistic motion blur. I have found that I can ignore the rule & then simply add it in post (using Davinci Resolve studio). The results are brilliant. I only do it for the purists that may see my videos, otherwise I am quite happy without it.

    • @AlaskaPirates

      Yup, I’m pretty much only planning on shooting that way for stationary shots that I want to look cinematic. I recently got a windows machine so I plan on learning resolve! It’s great that you are able to add that effect in post. Thanks for the comment, I could chat about this stuff all day.

      I would search for Ulanzi filter adapter, eBay might be your best bet. They make one though, I think small rig made one too? It fits on and then uses any 52 mm lens filters. What lens do you suggest for depth of field. On a tripod doing food reviews. Locations are in my house "studio" or in my car. Or do these lenses not lend toward depth of field.

    • @AlaskaPirates
      @AlaskaPirates  3 года назад +2

      The best depth of field for these lenses is with the telephoto, but it would not be the best lens for those applications. I do cooking videos, and I use the Ulanzi wide lens. Check out some of my Bush Snacks! Videos to get an idea of how it would look. It also depends on the phone you are using. I’d say there is a reasonable amount of depth of field with the wide lens and the iPhone XS, but for my purposes it’s not a priority. Thanks for the question! Have a great day!

    I’ve got a few lenses from Ulanzi. Problem is that I can’t get a phone cover/lens adapter to fit them onto an iPhone XR in the uk. Do you know of another brand that will let me screw my lenses on rather than messing about with fiddly clips? Great video by the way.

    • @AlaskaPirates

      I don’t. I thought that sandmarc was comparable, but I heard that the threads are different. I had to order my Ulanzi 11pro max case directly from Ulanzi, in China, it took like 3 weeks to arrive. They were out of stock on amazon. I’m glad you liked the video! Thank you for the comment!

    I don't understand why you don't invest in a DSLR or mirrorless camera, seeing the prices of these lenses and accessories. It also hurts to see how much dust there is in your lenses. Is it low quality lenses or are you not taking care of them?

      prodj.mixape official as far as I know the Moment makes a filter adapter system, I think it’s pressure fit. I’m still waiting on my moondog labs multi camera filter mount, and my moment case. The USPS is slow right now because trump is an idiot. I will do a review on it. If I end up liking it, I may just get rid of my iPhone XS and just use the iPhone 11 Pro Max as my camera. bro how can I mount ND filter for ulanzi 65mm lens and wide angle?

    • @AlaskaPirates
      @AlaskaPirates  Год назад +1

      I think you might have to improvise. I have heard that the pressure guy Moment filters are compatible, but I do NOT know that for sure! The only time I use ND filters anymore is on the anamorphic lens. Everything else I shoot is with the native camera these days. It’s just so simple. Good luck finding a solution! • @AlaskaPirates
      @AlaskaPirates  Год назад

      Yea, I think that by the time those filter adapters came out, the mobile lens craze had just about passed. I remember reading it a couple of time, that they were compatible, but I also never saw any video to confirm it. Then I realized I only care about using ND filters in really specific situations, and that I generally prefer the anamorphic lens. You can always bite the bullet and order a lens adapter and shoot a video about if it works or not!

      @godancs2 Год назад +1

    • @AlaskaPirates

      I have zero use in any of my filming for ND filters. I only use them to capture specific scenes that I want to look cinematic. I don’t even shoot in 24 fps anymore either. I’m glad I learned about film making, but for my general purposes, ND filters are useless.

    Does your ulanzi case create distortion for you compared to the use of the ulanzi clip? I have noticed that my clips are crisper than case photos & the anamorphic lens has blurring with the case & the blurring goes away if I use the clip. Can you confirm if this is your experience? Also... I've noticed that the case has about a 1.5mm distance between lens and camera module... Could this be why I'm seeing more distortion & vignetting?

    • @AlaskaPirates
      @AlaskaPirates  3 года назад +2

      Good question! Unfortunately I have never once used the clips. I went with the case so that I would never have to fiddle around with the clips. A better person to ask about this is 10th parallel. His channel is MUCH more technical, with regard to mobile video lenses.
      I have noticed blurring in both the wide and anamorphic, but, since mobile is my primary tool for creation, I have given up on worrying about it. The reality is, Ulanzi makes the most affordable, decent product, and it’s placed over a tiny sensor. It’s pretty limiting from the get go, so I have instead chosen to focus on the story, and how it is told, over the perfectly crisp quality of the footage.
      Being a traveler and a resident of the bush, portability and function win for me.
      Thanks for the question! Have a great night!

    hi bro, can ulanzi wide lens use nd filter ? I'm a little confused looking for the adapter, can it be made with a 3D machine?

    • @AlaskaPirates
      @AlaskaPirates  3 года назад

      I think you can make anything you like with a 3d printer, if you are good at using it. The wide comes with a polarizer, it has threads. I’d look into the moment pressure fit adapters, I don’t know if they fit, but it’s a good place to start, unless you are confident with your 3d printer skills. Sorry I don’t have more info, but I am going a different route. I’ll post more about my next mobile set up soon. Hope that helps.

      Not so far. The only time it fogs up is when you go inside from very cold temps. I’m talking below zero, Alaska style temps. Nothing you can really do to avoid that, I just let it dry and then wipe it with micro fiber, before using it again. ruclips.net/video/89E1MlKhbp0/видео.html
