Vodka in Poland is not drunk before or after lunch. Vodka is a heavyweight alcohol and is served in pubs at parties. This is not an Italian light wine for dinner. Polish wedding has raised the ceremony on the one hand and on the other hand cultural clash of two families - and there is no better mediator than vodka. Lots of food, a lot of fun and dancing all night long - that's how to drink a liter of vodka and not die ;)
About pickles. I teached a couple of German friends to drink vodka with pickles. They didn't know that it can be done this way. They said it was indeed a genius thing to do - to drink polish vodka with pickles to side. They do it this way till today. This is my achievement which I'm personaly proud of and my little contribution to polish-german relationship.
Interesting, it reminds me of a drink you’ll find in college bars here in America, the Pickle-Back. It’s a shot of whiskey followed by a shot of pickle brine. I guess the salt and acidity help cover the burn and the bitterness from the alcohol.
Just the way I thought my Spanish friends. My best friend every time he comes to drink he brings polish pickles with him which he has to buy in the a town like an hour away

@@KeepHimAtBay Na zdrowie mówi się , z reguły na początku, przy pierwszych kieliszkach. Potem "zdrowie", zdrówko, no to cyk, to jeszcze po jednym, na drugą nóżkę, etc. i wznosi się toasty. W Rosji to samo. A jest tam ciekawa kultura związana z popitką, zagrychą i toastami również. Ciekawostka: jeśli nie mamy zagrychy lub się skończyła, a pijemy z "braćmi z armii" (kolegami z wojska) to po wypiciu szota zamiast zagryzki... wąchamy własne pachy ! Dziwne, ale ciekawe są niuanse kulturalne obcokrajowców, zwłaszcza Rosjan.Pozdrawiam.

The acidity from pickles and similar Polish food helps to neutralise the after effects of drinking vodka. If you do that properly you can drink a bottle of vodka and avoid hangover in the morning.
Maybye some classic Vodka like a Żubrówka and Śliwowica ?

From my last trip from Polska ı bring Great vodka,Bielik,it cost 80zł,realy realy Good.
If you would like to dring vodka as a whisky, if you want some complexity, you should try Starka (at least 18 years). It is rye vodka, matured in oak casks. Making it is a traditional craft- also from 15th century (first mention of it).

Baczewski isn't really a Polish brand though (I know you're not explicitly saying that it is, but that's kind of the context of the video).
Baczewski himself was a Pole - back in the 19th century - but the brand was revived by his descendants in Austria. Its ties to Poland are only symbolic.
It's like, the origins of Jim Beam can be traced back to the Böhm family, but you wouldn't really imply Jim Beam is German bourbon, would you :)
As for the Baczewski vodka itself, it's decent, but nothing out of the ordinary - in my opinion, your taste may vary. In my opinion its reputation is largely based on brand perception - they've positioned themselves very well as luxurious-yet-affordable.
For what it's worth, they're also making whisky, and gin, and whatnot - this fact is quite telling by itself (to me at least).

Znam Holendra który wziął sobie Polkę za żonę, pewnego razu zostali zaproszeni na Polskie wesele. Wyobraźcie sobie co się stało gdy przy stole dowiedzieli się, że mają tam Holendra.
Mówił ze nie pamięta nic, i było „Disaster”
Dwa lata temu jak bylem na polskim weselu w Polsce, Anglik ktory siedzial obok mnie, spadl z krzesla przed godz 20:00. Pil duzo i lapczywie, bo nie mogl uwierzyc ze to za darmo i ze nie musi placic za alkohol. Kolo Anglika siedzial Irlandczyk i ten trzymal forme do samego konca.

Worth noticing that none of the two vodkas presented here are actually pure vodka. "Siwucha" have some aroma added, and "Żołądkowa Gorzka Tradycyjna" is a really a herbal liquor. Nothing wrong with either, but the most typical polish vodka, is a pure, white vodka without any additions. Best served chilled, put it in a freezer half an hour to an hour before opening the bottle.

They shuld try Żubrówka (vodka with grass) have many flavores but classic is ok. As snack meaby śledź rolls with onion. There are many diffrent types in poland u shuld try all of it.
