Quick disclaimer: Haaland hasn’t officially signed yet (at least it’s not officially announced), but according to our sources it’s only a matter of time now. So as our friend Fabrizio would say: here we go 😜.

Something to note as well is Nike's increasing foothold over Gen Z. Just look at how popular the Nike Dunk or Nike Tech Fleece is. Getting both Haaland and Mbappe would tip it even further in Europe. Nike has their future in the US secured, but getting both Haaland and Mbappe would even further cement Nike as the dominant sportswear brand. Especially with how much the Striker is valued over the midfielder or defender. Even if Adidas has Bellingham and Pedri, they can't match the Glitz and Glamour of Europe's two best strikers.

If Haaland signs with Nike, it is because Nike will pay him the most amount of money. There is no other reason - period.
No top level player actually cares about the fit, because they get custom products if they don't like them anywaysw which is really inexpensive for a brand to do. Messi sometimes used to wear a special leather version of the F50 that was not available to the public. When Neymar was with Nike he advertised the Hypervenom 2. However, he actually wore a pair of Mercurials painted as Hypervenoms.
Even if they like the retail version of a product. What they will always get is a boot that is custom fitted for their feet. I have seen videos of Pro player boots that were a size 9 7/8. A size that does not exist for retail, but was perfect for the professional.
The same can be said about brand reputation and history. No player actually cares about the brand. While they are able to generate money on social media. The brand benefits from the player and not the other way around. He won't get more Instagram followers if he wears Nike instead of Puma.
The only difference would be, if the athlete actually has a share in a brand. Like when Federer ditched Nike shoes for On. He probably doesn't even have a contract with On. But because he has a share of the company, its success will bring him more money longterm

Imma go and buy all their overpriced shit, hopefully to help them with their ongoing fight in the market and for you guys to produce more of this wonder.

Addias can still find their way to have some of the best players because they already have Bellingham and Pedri who can also be future great players and they might get vini jr because vini wants to end his contract with nike and i believe that vini jr is gonna be better the mbappe or at the same level so addias can still have great players and i think that if vini signs for addias he will replace messi and it would be vini vs haaland. addias vs nike.

All these players making this conspiracy theories to sign for a damn boot brand while Messi just signed for Adidas because he liked them more, that's why he's different, that's why he's the GOAT 🐐

While I get the importance of shoes in marketing, I still believe jersey sponsorship is the best tool.
Messi has always been sponsored by Adidas, but he played his best football at Barcelona, a team sponsored by Nike. Whenever you'll look at the headlines he made, it was always under a Nike shirt, with the boots being an afterthought. Plus, the free advertisements Nike gets from fans and media by using those pics.
While targeting individual atheletes is valuable, my priorities will always be teams. In fact, Puma stands to get a hefty advertisement through Haaland despite not signing him.

The video isn't relevant to it's title as to why erling haaland rejected Adidas, it's more of a "why nike chose haaland to endorse it's products",though captivating but you should re-frame the title as it is more of a misleading one

At that point it wasn't something special to be fair. They just came from the youth ranks and had not reached their global status yet.
At that time, Ronaldinho and R9 were Nikes most important athletes. Adidas on the other hand had Beckham and Zidane as their biggest names, who endorsed their Preditor Line.

In my opinion the whole 'Mbappé vs Haaland' is the media trying to make another 'Messi vs Ronaldo' rivarly to feed from, neither of them are as interesting as Messi and Ronaldo were or still are even to this day, at least for me, it feels forced how they get all the attention only because the people are desperate to have a 'Messi vs Ronaldo' part 2, so paying huge fees for them doesn't feel worth it, at least for now
