We just about got that boat ready for the water. I have been watching from the beginning and have enjoyed your videos. I don't know what I am going to do when you get it finished. 🤣🤣🤣
Just started watching, boat turned into quite the job. Have to say I’ve never came across a 30y AMMO Chief that spent so much time explaining anything. Must have been a major adjustment, lol. I guess you could be missiles,,,😂
That was so nice. Thank you. He said "that's me! He's doing better. He actually started walking today with a walking boot. He is almost back to his crazy self! Boat is coming along great. Those stainless scuppers look so great. I want to change out mine with stainless. See you next week!
Oh, crap it was his leg… I think I said arm…. Lol glad he’s doing better! I like the stainless for sure but it’s $$$, I guess the pay off is they should last forever
Great job on those scuppers. You are right those plastic ones are for that I should have clarified that I just don't trust plastic below or on the water line. They look so great you sir are an inspiration. Thanks for the videos and putting up with everyone telling you how to do everything. What a patient man you are. Thanks for your service.
People that say don’t use 4200 or that grade silicone have never taken anything apart using a heat gun on it before you start pulling it up is all. Nothing to it. Boat looks incredible man. You’ve done exceptional.
We have come a loooong way! It’s crazy when I look back! Lol, I have a huge new box of them, was planning on putting them in once I moved it into the office but that will be a while… not sure I can wait that long! #addicted
I would have no problem putting that GW through the Morehead City inlet ! Your doing a fine job on her ! Can’t wait too see the teak oil applied too the wood ! Going too look awesome !
Looking great - forward visual progress!! Quick suggestion/tip - rather than install the covers, I installed stereo speakers in the two vertical round holes (behind each seat) on my Grady - worked great. Take care. Jim
Chief, another great Video and don't worry about the people that say, "your doing it wrong" they aren't in your shoes. keep up the great work on the Grady she's looking good.
You're obviously a high energy guy, which is good because you'll need that energy when you need to remove that hatch. Another future choice might be 3M elastomeric sealant, which is between silicon and 4200 adhesive.
Can you do some content about the farm? I'm curious about what you do there, what you grow....etc. Loving the progress on the Grady - I remember being a young teenager and going fishing out on Lake Ontario with my Grandpa on his 21' Grady. Some of my best memories.
Yeah, I am doing footage of the new tractor, when I get enough I’ll make a video, we haven’t really been farming since last year (got rid of the cows), letting the land rejuvenate, it is wild the difference already after one year.
Over the past week, i have discovered your channel through this series, and i have binge watched this entire project! the boat has came a super long way since the start! cant wait to see it on the water.. Thanks for your videos, you have a new subscriber in me!
Hey Billy Boots (like saying your name!) thanks for joining us, we have a good bunch here. Glad you found us! Check out the channel page, there are several other projects going (other than boat).
@Shots Life thanks! I saw some videos of the vette, she's gorgeous! Love cars. I have a 93 Dodge ram w250 with the cummins 6bt, and i also have my late uncles. 1987 Trans Am GTA, that he factory ordered! The car only has ~13k miles... Will cherish that one for a long, long time.
Hey Brother, looking great! Glad you chose the SS scuppers! Smart move! The 4200 is ok, but it is a PITA to work with. The goal is to just place enough over the top of the seam to seal it. No need to fill it in. But done is done now. The camera issues....been there and done with it. I went over to the DJI Osmo 3 and no more issues and overheating either. Battery life is much longer. Check them out. Also, don't recommend putting silicone over the screws. Just unscrew them a slight bit, enough to put some 4200 under and then re-install. They will not leak. Also, one thing to know as I learned the hard way...do not ever use any type of rust remover on the Grady Stainless. Something happens chemically and they will rust like mad! Ask me how I know. For the deck on gelcoat, no problem but for Stainless rust issues, use the Magic Wadding or a rust polish remover instead. Then no more rusting is my experience. I had to remove some parts I used a rust remover on and use a polisher with metal polish to restore them and have not had any more rust for over a year now. Very interested to see what you came up with for the floor covering! Staying tuned in.
Good stuff, really interesting on the rust remover/stainless… he said he had to do it every time… what you are saying makes sense and lines up with his comment. I will have to check out the Osmo.. I have looked at them but was unsure how they were, my favorite camera so far is the GoPro Max, just because it really does good at capturing my voice.
@@shotslife I was able to find a lot of newer videos about comparing the DJI Osmo 3 vs the GoPro's that it confirmed DJI has a better camera regarding the battery management and heat management. My last GoPro Hero 9 always got hot enough and the batteries swelled so much that it was nearly impossible to get them out of the camera. I had to give up on it. I had heat issues on my previous versions as well and lost lots of footage when they shut off and didn't know it, or the battery would run down when it was not recording. I have not had any of this with the DJI so far.
Don't know what your teak plans are, but I'd say bye-bye and replace it with starboard. Use the teak as a template and cut it out to fit. It doesn't have to be exact. We have a pretty good marine surplus store in Tampa Bay so it's very easy stuff to get around here. Also, household vinegar will help make your 4200 work go easier. I haven't seen your all earlier videos yet but heads up--get a freshwater wash down system if at all possible. You won't regret it.
I haven't rigged a boat in about 20 years but watching you brings back some fond memories. With silicone fittings, I was taught to snug it down "pretty tight" on important fittings then come back tomorrow and do a final tightening-just a quarter turn should be good enough. That way, you can seal off any invisible air gaps. You can wet your fingers/rag with the vinegar and get a smoothed out flush finish. IF you must use clear silicone, just make sure it is marine grade or not at all. In my view, you're going overboard on the silicone, but it's your boat......
Lol. Joked last time that a man with your money should use SeaDeck. You probably already had the EVA you were going to use. And yes it sucks getting old. Talking to buddy last night about it. At the age (61) where I never get down on the ground without having a plan to get back up. Bought an EGO60 pole saw today. Need to trim limbs hanging over drive, but also to cut those little ones starting to grow on the side. Don't want to use regular chainsaw and then try to get back up over and over again. And wondered what was going on at farm. May need to add another category to your channel!!!
Yep, I looked into Sea Deck when you said that but $$$$… wish they would sponsor me! Lol! I love my little Kobalt chainsaw, I use it all the time, trying to keep the lake view open, great little machines, you will love it. Lol, yeah there is a farm series if you go to my actual channel page you should see it.. haven’t made a video for that in a while but making a video with the new tractor
It's your boat, so you can do whatever you want with it. There are different ways to seal a floor, and I guess it can be hard choice to make about choosing how to seal part of a boat. If I were in your shoes then I would choose to use something that is strong. Because something that is not strong enough is used then maybe a boat could fall apart, take on water and sink.
looks good, nice clean lines. I would go with Life caulk for the inspection ports much easier to pull off if you need to replace but still gives a great seal but 4200 works just fine. The only thing I would have done different is left the bead thicker on the thru hull tighten down the nut then wipe the excess off with acetone on the rag. Just gives it a better seal. but it wont leak you put a lot on there. Looks like you are close to the fun stuff, wiring and electronics. Just food for thought when putting in the self bailing drains, I recommend hooking up the hoses to the drain before you seal and tighten. its a real pain in the you know what trying to get hose clamps tightened in a small area. Thats my experience anyways. looking forward to the next video
If you didn’t us all of your 4200 put the rest in your beer fridge and it will last longer. Don’t forget to take it out to warm back up a bit before you use it again.
You might want to consider using Lexel rather than silicon. Available at Lowe's and other places. As for the things through the hull, I'd personally only seal the flange. I don't think doing the threads or the nut does any good but it's your boat.
I think you will be fine with 4200 for a semi permanent application. Getting it up should not be a big problem as the edge is exposed and you can apply the 5200 remover to it. Using a sharp razor blade it should come up just fine. My other choice would have been Marine Grade Sikka Flex with a Sikka Flex primer. Only because I find the elongation properties of Sikka Flex are a mite better than 4200 but either one is a good choice. Silicone is good in a compression situation such as a flange but not so good as the other two in gunning it in a crack. Silicone also can discolor (even the mildew resistant versions) a bit over time which I don't fine with 5200, 4200 and Sikka Flex. Looking good.
Hey buddy, I paid for the license so I don’t have to give credit, lol! Next time I’m in there I will look up his name for you though, called “great white ship” I have a few of his songs, most are pretty hippy like though!

Awesome job Chief! Floor looks great and those scuppers look clean! So close! 🙏🍻

Hey Roger Roger, thanks buddy, and thanks for checking it. I always wonder who’s still around out there.
Yeah as long as it's not 5200 should be ok. Only use 5200 on something you never plan on taking apart/off again, ask me how I know 😊
Looking good. One step closer to launch day!
Thanks!
Just started watching these, the boat is going to be great, cant wait for you to finish and get it out on the water.
Hey brother, thanks for finding us, I’m not a pro by any stretch of the imagination but we try!
Looking good Chief! Looking forward to next video.

Nice!
Polished stainless steel on all hull fittings looks great and should last forever, hopefully. They are pricey but sure look nice! Great job as always.
Yeah I am hoping they last a lifetime! Or at least until the next time someone rebuilds her!
You need my help.

Plastic thru hulls do get brittle with age. That’s why bronze is the only material used in quality builds.

Lol, I don’t want to say and jinks myself… our schedule has just become ridiculous and I have to get the Corvette done ASAP… so we shall see!
awesome episode Shots! looking great!

Whole in the water just continues....I do like your boat build videos though.
Nice work on the deck and the drains. Starbrite make a deck cleaner which will clean the deck very nicely. Check it out.

Don’t know but thought the screw type access covers should be on vertical surfaces and o ring seal on the floor
Probably so…
I was looking at those Atwoods the other day...$80 each...I'll stick wit da plastics.
Yup, you right and I totally get it! I went back and forth.

Interesting, I’m surprised 3M doesn’t make a 3200…. Or maybe the do!
Another fantastic episode....Hey! What are we going to do with the motors..... refurbish or get good ones..
Lol, well when you buy it the motors I have on it will be there but, I’ll make a whole episode of Sgt Dinger upgrades!!
@@shotslife Hahahhhahha Right. It's only 80 grand for diesels.... sell your new tractor....I love spending other's money. Living the dream.
Lol, I know right! Wish I had that kind of money to throw around!

You don't need that much 4200 just the out side flange and enough of the threads covered to match the transom thickness
Thanks!
Have you considered using 3M 5200
Definitely would never get them out then! 😂
I have been restoring a Sunbird for the last 2 years and I would much rather have to much sealant than not enough!
