    Hey, my father is a patient of diabetes and hypertension and new he is diagnosed with kidney problem. His creatinine serum is 3.6. Will you please suggest the diet for my father

    My Husband is stage 5 but has no water retention so asked not to restrict fluid. His potassium and phosphorus are in normal range. Only Creatinine and Urea are high. Is this unusual? His kidney damage was caused by Hypertension and we only found out at stage 5 as there were no symptoms, no problems with urination either. Output is normal and no pain.
    He doesn’t need dialysis. So he has been put on a Low protein diet.

      Hi, my father has creatinine 5, potassium in normal range but GFR looks terrible. He has no diabetes. But high blood pressure.

      @@sfarooq1000 My Husband had a check up on Jan 5th and his GFR has gone up from 10 to 17 in one month. Creatinine came down from a lot from 4.6 to 2.8 , so did Urea. So there is hope. We have been extremely careful with diet. Is your dad on dialysis ? How is his phosphate level?

      @sfarooq1000 3 года назад +1

      @@nesadcruz7840 is there any way you could reach me on some other medium?

      not on dialysis yet, there has been talk, but want to fight it

    • @nesadcruz7840
      @nesadcruz7840 3 года назад

      @@sfarooq1000 Good. If he can urinate fine, potassium and phosphate aren’t a problem then you can work on it. Is he on blood pressure meds? My Husband wasn’t earlier but now is and it’s stable. That also contributes to improvement. Btw I hear there are patients who go on dialysis for a short while then improve too. The important thing right now is to do whatever you can to alleviate the kidneys. If he has no fluid retention make sure he drinks enough water, go on Low protein diet, we did lower than they recommended and more plant based with chicken or fish only twice a week each. Also important to consume food that is good for kidneys like berries and grapes.

      Potassium depends on whether you are restricted. Sodium should be limited but more so if you also have hypertension. There is hidden sodium in everything like bread, cereal etc. So what my Husband does is avoid adding salt to anything.

      Stopping Kidney Disease by Lee Hull has summaries of hundreds of medical journal articles. The correct diet is a very low protein vegan diet. The proof will be found in future blood and 24-hour urine tests ordered by your nephrologist. For example, are your BUN scores decreasing and your Cystatin C scores for creatinine increasing? She is correct about low protein.
