The full circle of me discovering Greg and KF through the old web show Spellslingers where guests would come play Magic with Day9 Hugging uncle is still one of the funniest things I’ve heard Greg say 😂
I just got into magic a month ago, and it's been so much fun! The best resources for learning were just nice people at my LGS. I highly recommend getting a veteran to come teach and play commander with yall.
If Blessing ever reads this and is really interested in playing blue: Blue benefits from the more advanced rules in the game. For example, if you have a creature with flash that allows you to scry when it comes into play, you can flash that creature onto the battlefield before the end of your opponents turn, because flash is synonymous with an instant. When someone says they end their turn, you can say "ok, before the end of your turn, I'm gonna flash this guy onto the battlefield." This allows you to scry, decide if you wanna keep the card you see or get rid of it BEFORE YOUR TURN STARTS, AND it means that your creature won't have summoning sickness when you start your turn. Now you were able to basically manipulate your own deck, and get an attacker into the field, all before your opponents turn ended.
They're not ready for that, friend. Your heart is in the right place and SOMEONE will inevitably adopt blue, but that's the most advanced color as evidenced by your advice here. 🙂
@@sircrush3530 yeah, I know sadly. I just get hype when someone new to the game picks up blue, knowing that the fun is truly found when you know how to manipulate time in the game, and it kills me that no one in the chat screamed it at them when bless was using blue. I can't wait until they learn how the "stack" works.
Shout out to barret for being awesome and doing his best. Also I love this and I think kinda funny doing table top games is the future and it's final form
Man, this really takes be back to when I learned Magic for the 1st time. I love Kinda Funny and watching them try a game that I love is awesome. Also them getting excited about is amazing.
Been waiting for you guys to try mtg ever since Mike got into it! So awesome to see Greg and Bless liking it. It’s such a complicated game but you guys did great!
MTG is my other major hobby outside of gaming so I had a great time watching this. Greg, there are also Marvel-themed cards coming out. And Bless, they already have Street Fighter and Fallout cards lol.
You guys have got to get into commander. The commander pre con decks make it so easy to get in to and the singleton format makes it hella fun!!! Loved the stream
Long time listener. I've been meaning to join the mebership for awhile. This finally motivated me to swipe the card. Hope to see more like this in the futue! I would love some arena content.
If ever I wish I had watched a stream live... There's so many ways to help explain which I know were probably being said by the chat in the moment but to help clear up a few things from the very first game, for anyone new to the game: The "spin down" included in the box was the 20 sided die that blessing was using, it's called that because, unlike a standard D20, the sides are in sequential order, making it easy to find a specific number very fast. Enchantments, such as pacifism that Greg used on his final turn, is a permanent card, so it would have "stuck" to blessing's creature until it either died or the enchantment removed, so the prevention of blocking and attacking essentially nullified the combat of his creature, however the "attacking creatures you control have deathtouch and lifelink" is a "static" ability, meaning it's always in effect, so if blessing attacked with other creatures he would still get that benefit even though the creature giving it was pacified. The ability Greg was interested in using, pay 5 mana and all "attacking creatures get +X/+X" where X is the number of attacking creatures, is an activated ability, which can be activated at any time however only does something if activated in combat, after Greg has already attacked. So he would want to attack with his 3 creatures, usually wait for blessing to assign his blockers, then he can pay 5 and all of his attacking creatures would get +3/+3 because he had 3 creatures attacking, the unblocked creatures would be dealing an extra 6 total damage. A few more but this is already long winded, but damnit I love this game. That first match didn't even get into things like the upkeep steps or end step triggers. There's so much depth, it's hard to see any 2 games to the same way
Magic is a fantastic game because it scales from relatively simple to incredibly complex. You can treat it like a board game.. before escalating into the state based actions, the stack, and layers.
There will only ever be one Portillo. The pup you've spotted on this stream is Cole, Greg (Ben's) dog, who they've had for quite some time, although he has only been on camera a few times.
This was genuinely so much fun to watch. Them slowly getting it and getting into it literally brought my old ass back to 1994 when I cracked my first packs. I'm about to go jump into a commander game
In the 90s I was too concerned with being labeled a nerd to adopt MTG despite being incredibly interested. Then life happened and I got busy. Started Magic a few years ago and haven't looked back. I wish I wasn't trying so hard to be cool back then. Little did I know that the term 'nerd' would become a compliment. I still nerded out on RPG video games but nobody had to know that 😂 Glad to see them learning. I'll be tuning in to their process with fresh memories of my own.
Good on them for learning, but any experienced magic player is screaming at their screen lol. Wish they had an experienced player teaching this. But hope they enjoyed it!

Hugging uncle is still one of the funniest things I’ve heard Greg say 😂
When can we expect the commander games with Andy, Blessing, Greg, and Mike?
I've been waiting for this moment when all of my hobbies converge
KF UB Secret lair with Mike as Jace the mindsculptor playing magic in the card art of his card is what I need.
Go watch Greg play Magic with Day9 on geek and sundry
I liked the vibe of this one! I'm not even a Magic fan but I enjoyed learning along with Greg and Blessing
Blessing, blue decks are all about that smug laugh “you’ve activated my trap card” energy that you will love
Seeing them enjoy themselves playing MTG makes me so happy... Just wait until they hear about commander
10000 percent agreed. Commander is game changing.
I just got into magic a month ago, and it's been so much fun! The best resources for learning were just nice people at my LGS. I highly recommend getting a veteran to come teach and play commander with yall.

The game is NOT easy to teach. Hope mike was prepared 😂
