Jordan is considered the GOAT because he was simultaneously, and for about a 10-12 year stretch, the most feared scorer in the NBA and debatably the best defender in the NBA at the same time... He could score more and more efficiently than anyone in the game the get back on defense and lock down your teams best player. Best of all, he got even better in the playoffs, and time after time would seal the deal on any close game with game-winning shots. There's a reason he won 6 rings in less than a decade.

That man played 11 full seasons with the Bulls in which he raked up 6 rings, 6 finals MVPs, 5 season MVPs (should have at least 7 but he got robbed), he got 10 scoring titles which is a record while also making the NBA's first-defensive team 9 times which is also tied for the record, he got 1 Defensive player of the year award, he led the league in steals 3 times and he led the Bulls to a stretch of 632 freaking games without losing 3 games in a row between 91' and 98'. That is absolutely crazy. Nobody has dominated the league like MJ did, ever, and anyone who wants to argue that Michael Jordan is not the greatest basketball player ever is either clueless, which is fine, or stupid...

I just wanted to add. For everyone who never had the opportunity to watch him play like myself and millions of others due to age . No worries it's nobody's fault. Nobody to blame. Just move past it. However you will have to watch the actual video multiple times to grasp what you just watched or watch with your favorite reaction RUclipsr I don't care. Just make sure they covered the whole or as much as possible of the video. Because you can't take it all in just watching once or even twice and I was a teenager growing up in that time he was in his prime. Which was incredible. Whoever made the original video it is almost a master piece. The first half music is great 2nd half could be better but that's not important. But if you could understand the back story of all that. It's extremely incredible. I've watched at least 50 times including reaction videos and I'm still enjoying it because I remember the time period and what was going on in his professional career and public life. He used to fill up lockerooms with reporters. He did things I've still haven't people do to this day. And during that time it was like you had one super star on each team. They had good players around them for sure. But mj was on another level all by himself. He could not go anywhere without a massive amount of people trying to get his autograph. Kids chasing after him. It was insane. He was a rock star in and off the court. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. But you need to watch this multiple times to really grasp what you just watched

As someone who lives in Chicago and watched all 82 games every season, beginning with his rookie year, I can tell you that MJ's highlight reel is endless. RUclipsrs have done a good job digging up old footage. However, there are still more highlights they haven't found. Even this video is only a fraction of his best plays. Unfortunately, not every game was VCR'd in the mid 1980s.

Would love to see you react to Michael Jordan Best Rare Footage by Voyager (part 1...part 2 is good also but really part 1 is the thing). It shows more of his defense plus there's a whole segment showing some of the hard fouls Jordan had to play through. His ability to score through contact is unmatched...and will never be matched because of the changes in the game that make it so much easier to score. Plus, the Voyager video is not made by the NBA and so you can see for yourself its not professional editing making Jordan look good. It's hard to tell, even for guys that played, but Jordan is quicker than any human being that size has a right to be. He was so sudden, he was by you before you could react. It's not just straight ahead speed, which he had as well, it is how quick he can accelerate and change direction. Nevermind he has a 48" (121 cm) vertical leap and can wait for everyone else to fall back down. There is helpless feeling when your opponent is still up and you're falling back down. You can't block him when he's double clutching because you jump for the first movement, then he pulls it back down and waits in air for you to fall back down Earth. He was ridiculous.

I always refer people to this Historic Mixtape when they ask me why I consider Jordan the GOAT. It is 16 minutes of resume that drives the point home with force. But the thing is, alot of the generations after Jordan's years simply don't realize that this was MJ every 👏 single 👏 night 👏. No plays off. No rest management. No resting on defense. No backing down. He WAS thee Apex predator of the league! Unrivaled in determination & killer instinct. Skilled in everyway. Motivated to play every game at a level others just couldn't reach. Ten scoring titles (NBA record) in an era where physicality was at its highest, 6 Championships (no losses), 5 MVPs, 6 Finals MVPs, a Defensive Player of the Year award which was usually given to the big men of that time and countless other benchmark stats that have yet to be broken. Still the only player in NBA history to win the scoring title, MVP, a Championship, Finals MVP and be named to the All-Defensive 1st team in the same season. He also did it 4 times. Nearly every obscure stat has Jordan's name on top of it or in it. And all of this was done in the Golden Era of the league, in effectively 14 seasons. Twelve seasons if we only look at his Bulls years. Nearly eleven Bulls years if we take out the majority of his second season that he lost due to a foot injury. That is an insane accumulation of accomplishments and stats in such a relatively average length career. Just imagine the accomplishments and stats he could have accumulated had he played 17, 18, 19 or 20 seasons. Just imagine where he would be sitting on the "all-time" lists. How many more titles and points he would have amassed. Imagine if he doesn't retire for two years in his PRIME or Jerry Krause/Reinsdorf don't kick Phil to the curb at the end of The Last Dance in '98 making MJ's decision to retire again that much easier. That Bulls team had the ability to win 8 straight, maybe more. Just imagine how much higher the benchmarks would have been pushed. It's insane to think about. Also, take this into consideration. LeBron passed Kareem in scoring. We know this. Great accomplishment. But that is a longevity stat. Kobe, Karl, LeBron and Kareem all sit above Jordan on the scoring list and they all played 20 seasons or more. All with similar scoring totals (obviously). Now think of this, at 14 seasons, respectively, Jordan was ahead of all 4 of them in points. Jordan was nearly 5000 points ahead of LeBron at that point - not to mention he was ahead of LeBron in every statistical category other than assists at that point as well. But if you do the math, Jordan surpasses Kareem in potentially his 17th season given the averages. Years ahead of LeBron. I mean, simply give Jordan back his second season due to injury and the two seasons he retired in his prime, right there is Kareem passing territory. He also most likely catches and surpasses Stockton for steals leader as well. So when you look at it that way, it becomes quite clear that Jordan's career and potential was on a whole other level. Not knocking LeBron or anyone else. Greats are great, no matter the way we look at it. But one guy simply towered over the rest. Perspective tells us that. Luckily I got to see his career unfold. It was a remarkable time to watch basketball. And that isn't just nostalgia talking either. It is just the way it was. Game in and game out.
Jordan simply put, is the GOAT.
"You are simply the standard by which basketball excellence is measured." - David Stern

legendary coach Bob Knight said this about Jordan after he coached him in the '84 Olympics (before MJ's rookie season in the NBA):
“The kid is just an absolutely great kid. If I were going to pick the 3 or 4 best athletes I’ve ever seen play basketball, he’d be one of them. I think he’s the best athlete I’ve ever seen play basketball. If I were gonna pick 3-4 with the best ability I’d ever seen play the game, he’d be one of them. If I’m gonna pick the best competitor that I’ve ever seen play, he’d be one of them.
So, in the categories of competitiveness, ability, skill and then athletic ability, he’s the best athlete, he’s one of the best competitors, he’s one of the most skilled players. And that to me makes him the best basketball player that I’ve ever seen play”

Till this day no player could duplicate what Jordan was doing. He did this against alot of the hall of fame top 75 players and super team of his Era. He was the top super player that cancel all of there championship dreams. Only 1 player has come close and is the only play that can be compared. (Kobe Bryant) that's as close as one can get to be compared

I grew up watching MJ and there are two things that stick out for me. 1. Jordan only really had 1 weakness over his career which was the 3 point shot. But his weakness there was that he was average, and about equal with the NBA average of his time. By comparison when looking at other players they can be as good as him at certain parts of the game but not across so much of the game and they always have more significant weaknesses. 2. I’ve never seen anyone have such a tireless work ethic and effort across both offensive and defensive sides of the ball across a full 82 game season year after year. Best scorer and arguably best or at least top 3 defensive player most years of his career.

Here's why Michael Jordan is the GOAT:
In the entire history of the NBA, there have only been four occurrences where a single player has finished the season as:
    1) Regular Season MVP
    2) Scoring Champion
    3) Defensive Player of the Year
    4) Post Season MVP
    5) Won a Championship that year.
The four players to do it are all named Michael Jordan.

Vince Carter is the all-time best slam dunk specialist. However, Wizard MJ was able to guard him very effectively.

It's not so much the dunks & fancy moves that make Michael Jordan the G.O.A.T. (and those things are certainly there for the world to witness), but it's moreso his entire game (offense & defense) in CONTEXT as so many of the commenters are laying out beautifully! MJ technically played 15 years, but actually appx. 13 due to injury and retirement, which make all of his accomplishments astronomical! "Some" (without naming names) have played much longer than MJ but "STILL" cannot match his accomplishments! How is THAT for "Dominance & Greatness!"....Good reaction!

During the Jordan era that was the style of play as far as the physicality and post up work is concerned but what separated Jordan from everyone else and why he was so dominant was because he was unstoppable and his desire to win was miles and miles higher than anyone else!! His work ethic was unmatched, he played defense just as hard if not harder than he played offense and he made playing basketball sexy (in the sense of his style of layups and dunk's were concerned) and finally he showed that you didn't have to be 7 feet tall to be successful at a championship level from the post and mid-range if you're willing to put the work in!!! That's what makes Jordan so special and his style of play was entertaining as hell to watch!! I'm 46 yrs old and when the Bulls were on TV in the 80's and 90's Jordan made them must see TV and it didn't matter who your favorite team was!!!

Good reaction...and yes, Michal Jordan is the undisputed GOAT. Also, just to answer a question you asked around the 12:16 minute mark, the answer is 'No'...not every player today plays like Michael Jordan (diving on the floor etc). You have to understand that what made Michael Jordan great, was not just the fact that he led the league in scoring averages each season. No...what made him great is that he not only led the league. in scoring averages, but he also was one of the leaders in the entire league on DEFENSE and Steals as well. You see, in basketball, even today, it's either a player is mostly purely offense but cannot play defense, or the player is a defensive guy, but cannot score. MJ was a scorer AND a defender. Put into context, Lebron James is piss poor defender. Yes, Lebron plays defense at times, but mostly he sleeps on defense. Michael Jordan is still the only player in NBA history to lead the league in scoring average (most PPG), Steals, league MVP, AND Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) all in the same season. That is insane.
Also, one of the main differences between people who call Michael Jordan the GOAT vs those who call Lebron the GOAT, is that the people who call Lebron the GOAT are typically die-hard Lebron fans. These are serious Lebron fan-boys who have an emotional stake in making the silly claim that Lebron is the GOAT. However, the people (actually MOST people) who consider Michael Jordan the GOAT, were never fans of him when he played. Bro,as a New Yorker I am a die-hard New York Knicks fan, so it was natural for me to DESPISE Michael Jordan as a teen in the 1990s...LMAO. (And my favorite player of all time was Allen Iverson who played for the 76ers...lol). But even I, who DESPISED MJ, consider him the GOAT. That's the difference between the few people who call Lebron the GOAT, vs the masses who correctly consider MJ the GOAT. The masses who consider MJ the GOAT, hated his guts when he played against their home team....lmao

I am from the UK I was born in the early 80's , NBA was not shown in the 80's in the UK, but when MJ started dominating NBA Channel 4 got the rights to show NBA games and highlights. So I watched from about 92/93 onwards and MJ was incredible. People who say Le Bron is the goat now? Its like saying Luka Modric or Samuel Etoo are the Goat, I mean they are great players, truly great players, but its jut no comparison to the likes of Maradona, Messi, R9, Ronaldinho, its actually bordering on comical. It also says to me that they have not either 1) seen MJ play or 2) seen this mixtape, because after either of those, its undeniable.

Guy talking about passing the torch was Magic Johnson, possibly the greatest point guard to ever play, and very much the model after which Lebron plays, like Kobe did w/MJ.
He was able to do all this b/c he worked insanely hard at every flaw in his game that people said he would struggle with. Coming into the NBA the question was if he could have a mid range jumper to go along w/getting to the rim. He became one of the greatest mid range jump shooters. They questioned his ability to defend, he became one of the greatest defenders. They said he wasn't a good enough 3pt shooter and said another SG was as good as him, so he set an NBA record for NBA 3 pt shots made in a 1/2 and game in the finals. Athletically freakish, he could have been an olympic long jumper or NFL WR/CB, he had God given athletic ability. If you do a google search for NBA hand size, you'll see 6'6" MJ w/7ft centers, his hands were abnormally large for his size so he did things that no other guard could do.
But he wasn't ahead of his time, guys like Dr. J were doing things like he did before him. It was just a lot harder back then b/c there were legit 7ft shot blockers defending the rim and the NBA hadn't changed the rules to make the 3 sec violation for defense yet; everyone does it now b/c it's far easier to get to the rim then in the 80's and 90's. It's why 7ft C's are basically out of the NBA now. He just was so insanely competitive that he would take criticism of his game personally and he worked to remove the issue. He made himself through sheer determination and work ethic into the best and most complete player, add in his natural athletic ability and he did things constantly that others could only do occasionally.

In today's era, traveling and other play mistakes are allowed much more often, so the "incredible skills" of some of today's players are highly questionable. The rules have also been changed to favor the offensive and make the game more marketable, but now it is much easier to score and gather good statistics. With similar rules, you would not have an MJ-LeBron debate, but rather a Larry Bird-LeBron debate.

He still holds the record for fastest player ever to reach 100 steals and 100 blocks, is still the only player to get 200 steals, 100 blocks, and score 3,000 points all in one season, still holds the record for greatest 82 game stat line with 32 ppg, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, and 1.5 blocks, and still holds the league records for PER (player efficiency rating) for the regular season, playoffs, and finals.

I think what this video shows you is this was him, night in and night out. Every time he put on a show. Because the editing is swapping between games showing him do the same moves to all these different players. There are some big highlight times sure, but the consistency of this was insane. The weird thing is the fact that the 6'6" guard was dunking better than and dunking on people 7'2" is part of what made it insane in addition, everyone knew he was coming, but despite that and despite them playing in an era where people could be MORE physical than now they still couldn't stop him. Everyone does this now because they made the rules on fouls harsher because he used to do this and get HIT and that was just a regular foul, there was no flagrant foul like now.
