I totally disagree that independent music is at an end ! Home production and recording has never been cheaper or easier and the same goes for promoting your music on social media!!!
Thes major record labels are becoming dsp/distribution companies. Independent market is growing thanks to social media artists dont have to sign to a label.
Great Podcast!!! 💯💯💯💯 I appreciate how you all talk about the Music Industry and connect it to other aspects of our lives, namely Cultural and Societal Issues. 😊💯😊
He was being serious but he gives that vibe of being the edgy white boy that happens to listen to rap music n disrespects everything he shows unwavering support towards. It’s hypocritical n ignorant n he probably thinks his money n clout speaks for him. I understand the generational divides but people like this lack culture even in his own space so he definitely will lack that comprehension in ours, n if he does he’s exploiting for his gain n grinning at the rap community
I really think in part that Kanye West had something to do with this indirectly. As you know Kanye went indie a few years ago. Kanye also dissed every UMG artist and UMG CEO Lucian Grange. Kanye's distribution was revealed to be under FUGA, so I think to a minuet degree Lucian Grange is getting the last laugh. My feeling is UMG at this point is encroaching on the independent sector because thats probably the only sector that is growing. Sony has made some quiet moves as well as Warner but I think UMG made the play to overall maintain its industry percentage.
enlighten conversation...theses kids on the internet be wildin out...times have changed, but do ya really wanna go back to the 90's when talkin shit could get ya ass kicked? theses kids got guns nowdays and they really dont care...and im pretty sure that that Emraild dude probally has a bodyguard and he dont move much cuz IRL he's bout to get his head knocked off...the culture will check that shit best believe.
Major RECORD COMPANIES WILL ALWAYS HAVE CONTROL OVER INDEPENDENT ARTISTS, AS LONG AS THE ARTIST DEPENDS ON STREAMING THERE MUSIC. YOU HAVE TO GO BACK TO SELLING ONLY 99% OF PHYSICAL COPIES OF YOUR MUSIC/VIDEOS. AND REMEMBER THERE'S DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES THAT REALLY DISTRIBUTE PHYSICAL COPIES OF MUSIC. WE ARE AT THE POINT NOW WE'RE WE CAN MAKE RECORD COMPANIES CRASH AND BURN, JUST LIKE WE DID TO THE DEMOCRATS. JUST WAKE UP AND REALIZE YOUR VALUE.

we agree
I think the majors are hedging their bets. I also think buying catalogs is a source for machine learning and AI generated music.
Definitely is the setup for machine learning

I agree with the dude in the middle, "what is over for the indie?" We still got all the tools available for us to make it if you put in the work.
when your owned and controlled by a major label
@chemshanauli6100 How so?

As if Republicans & right winger Christians give a hoot about your devil's music...😂 What a ridiculous comment.
The majority of the world does not carry CD players around or own record players. People want convenience and immediate gratification.
