So your horse art rocks. And what a cool.thing to go see Shires in there home ground. My boyfriend as a teen had an awesome black Shire named Satan....I know right?! I had a QH and we had a ton of great riding in Point Roberts Washington in the 70s. Apollo sure landed in the right place. So great to see you and your daughter teaming up to ride. Both do lucky😊
Wonderful to see the progression in growth and development thru the ages. From fuzzy babies to Magnificient adults. And bohemian rhapsody playing in the background!
I realize they do not dock the tails, but the tailbone still seems short. I wonder if it is kind of an optical illusion because of their huge haunches and great height. What a wonderful show. I am somewhat surprised at the number of horses. And these are only Shires! Draft breeds in the UK must be thriving. It seems as though drafts are gaining in popularity.
The tail looks strange when it is shaved for sure! I do think the awareness and popularity of the breed has increased. I’m biased but I think they are amazing! 😊
OMG 😲 75 The merl gray shaded Shire is to die for .. He is just breathtakingly beautiful. I'm in love .. Thank you for this share, I wouldn't ever get to see this without you.
I so wished I could afford one of your canvases for a center piece in my living room, but as a cancer warrior, I have to many medical bills to be able to afford the 27 × 32 of that stallion. It's the most beautiful painting I've ever laid my eyes on. Great work 👏.
The Peterborough shire horse show is the biggest in the world and I believe move to Leicestershire.I lve it especially spending the day in the paddocks with them
Just stunning! From the colts to the really BIG boys, they were amazing! And they aren't just pretty, either. You got some great shots of those warm, intelligent eyes! Thanks so much for sharing this experience. I do hope you stayed for the mares the next day. So --- is there an international show? That gelding trophy wasn't half bad, and you and Apollo would be great in the ridden class! 👍
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful Shire horseshoe! I remember when you bought Apollo & he came to you in such poor shape. But, you stuck by him with a good feeding program did mild exercise to start, got him vet checked and after a year he started going to horse shows and eventually started winning! I trust he is doing well. Thank you for rescuing him and God bless...........
I'll bet this was a trip of a lifetime for you. I loved riding our neighbors' horses when I was a girl. I always thought I would have my own horse one day, but life got in the way. I will live vicariously through you and my favorite horse Apollo.
That was fun, a glimpse of Shire heaven! The young stallion at the end was quite a stunner. And of course, I love seeing the handsome Apollo in the intro and the end. Thanks so much, I’m looking forward to your next installment.
Is it an optical illusion that when the legs aren't feathered in white they don't seem as fluffy? And I agree, I like Apollo the best. His history makes him very special too.
They were all magnificent, i don’t know what they were judged on as there were all ages, some geldings to stallion . Beautiful group and wonderful to see
I’m booking my next years vacation there! My heart just swoons over these massive muscular beasts of pure loving beauty:) I probably took 40 screenshots -thanks so much for sharing your love of Shires! Sacramento, CA
Thank you for sharing this with us. I kept thinking, that is a lot of horse to try to walk beside. I know what my Thoroughbred was like, just about pulling my arm out of the socket.
yep, gotta be glad the EGOs were on hold! so well trained and handled. Totally IMPRESSED! I learned to drive with a halflinger stallion, quite the experience in the mixed classes!
What a beautiful sight to see, number 43 really stood out for me Santiago, I love his long mane and forelock, the one with the low withers and high back end looked odd and finally I noticed only four greys, wonder if that’s a rarer colour, hope Apollo is doing well too, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
If you notice not one tail is docked.!! They've discontinued that practice. Deeming it cruel. So now they just braid up the tails, even when doing any type of harness work at all. They've done the same for ALL Draught (draft) breeds. Best Regards from a Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 🇨🇦🇺🇲
@Apollo The Shire & Santiago Michalek It's not only the Shire, but Belgians, Percherons, Clydesdales and even Haflingers. All draft breeds have banned the practice of docking the tail. The only time you will find a docked tail in any draft horse is in the Amish draft horses. They still dock their tails as foals. As soon as they are born, a band is placed around their tail, and it stays there until the tail and band fall off. They essentially, cut off the blood supply until that part of the tail dies and falls away on its own. And because the foal is still young and with mom, she keeps it clean, so no infection ever happens. That's the only place you'll ever find a docked tail now. Never from a renowned or recognized breeder. Best Regards, Jenn. 💖
No, it’s illegal to dock tails in the UK, they are either shaved, hair trimmed or braided. This is done so their long tails don’t get caught in the rigging. Can be very dangerous and injure or kill the horse or driver. Thanks for watching 🙂
@@CharleneSmith-d7w draft horses are traditionally used for pulling work, that involves a lot of rigging and tack, those are things that could get tangled with a horse’s tail. That could injure the horse or spook him sending him dangerous running with a wagon behind like a wrecking ball. It’s for the safety of the horse and the safety of the drivers.

The Shire horse is in good shape for a loooong time into the future! What a magnificent animal.

Babies do go through most unfortunate shapes before the grow up dont they
They sort of look like giant awkward puppies until they are done growing. Thanks for watching!

These horses are so beautiful and its ashame thats why they have to put up with the loud mic and the dumb costumes 😮..
but..it's a shame, they cut the tails off!!
