- Publishing 2 papers in HIGH IMPACT JOURNALS OR publishing 10 papers in LOW QUALITY predatory indexed journals? Which one does give you a higher chance to get an #academic #job? In our previous video, we prepared a nonsense #manuscript by putting together random sentences from random #journals. We submitted it to a #predatory #journal and the paper was accepted for #publication. In that video we claimed that #publishing in predatory journals would destroy your future career. Now in this video we intend to test if such publication would really jeopardize your career.
Really intresting result. I think maybe it best to have at least few article in top tier journals to illustrate you have a capability of conducting high-quality research and then you can just focus on quantity. Establishing balance is always the best strategy.
Yeah. I believe in a balanced approach.
In Bangladesh, the circular for public university just state the number of papers; neither quality journal nor predatory journal.
The recruitment panel focuses on:
1. The university from which the candidate pursued his bachelor, master's and PhD
2. Results of the previous degree
3. The political party he supports
4. The way he talks...
Some of the recruitment panels even don't know too much about research. Very unfortunate.
However, the situation has has changed in few top tier private universitites.
We hope the days will come, we will recruit the academic based on his quality research rather on others..
