@scout Tactical Yes the bottom pouch will carry the military modular sleep system. I had this pack since 2009 and carried it in Iraq. You do have to max the compression of the bags.
I am in the army and I use this pack, the Modular sleeping system can fit in the lower compartment with no issue, I am also able to fit the EBNS in with it.
I have been wanting one but the $500 price tag was a little more than I could afford. They are running a sale for $279 and I could resist no longer so I ordered one today.
One more thing, we also have a reversible pack cover that has snow camo on the other side. I love my 7850. I was wondering if we could start some petitions to change our shit back to cubic inches like we should have.i think our market is large enough for them to listen to us. Great review,I keep my Henry on one side my bow saw and fishing rod on the other.
Hey, Sir. I own this pack, also. I'm real happy to see your review on it because I love it as well. It's ridiculously huge, but it carries well. I share your excitement on this pack, and I find it to be one of the best designed packs out there. To add one thing about this pack: On the shoulder straps, there's two female buckles. One on each side. They're designed to snap into that removable lid and hold it on your chest, while you're on the move, so that you can access the stuff inside. How cool is that?
RedDragon, I didn't erase anything, I just moved the prepper type videos to the new Scout Prepper RUclips channel and Facebook page. Everything is still going strong. You can't put links in the comments per RUclips, so just click on the scout prepper channel from the "featured channels" on the right in youtube, and check out the prepper facebook page by clicking on the link on the scout tactical facebook. Check out the new channel and facebook page and let me know what you think. -Scout
wow.. i want this... nono.. im going to get this.. but uscav dont chip international, unless $2500 is your minimum order.. I'm from Norway.. any tips on how to get this a little under listprice like you? good review I must say!! thank you :)
Just a quick question. How much cubic inches Is the fanny pack by itself? I ask because I am running a J79 Skycrane 2 " I also have the spike camp duffle which adds another 2900 cubic inches " Making it run around near 7500 total. But the removable fanny pack that comes with the J79 seems much smaller. I was thinking of just putting the fanny pack from a kelty eagle on mine instead to bump up the volume even if I get a 100 or more cubic inches I would be happy.
Also I think If Kelty and eberlestock some how made a hybrid between our two bags that would be the best bag ever created. I like the internal sleeping bag storage or your kelty eagle and the mesh divider with the mesh organizational pockets on the inside of you kelty eagle. that is a couple things I wish my skycrane had. Dont get me wrong I also love all the features of the skycrane and I would rather have my skycrane. but just those two things one your bag plus the fanny pack would make a killer bag if they where some how combined. dont you agree haahaa?
I'm not 100% sure on the size of the fanny pack itself, but it appears that the 2 removable side pouches and the fanny pack combined all add about 1400 cubic inches. My estimate would be 500 for each side pouch, and 400 for the fanny pack.

I'm 5'9" and the pack fits me great. I used it to hike over 100 miles with the scouts in New Mexico and this baby is amazing. A+ review from myself.
You definitely have some great miles on your pack. What a cool adventure that must have been. Thanks for the positive feedback!

I like the idea of having a sleeping bag and tent in my bug out bag, most BoBs miss that essential items ;)
Got one, 6/7/16, $363...love it!
Great review on a AWESOME bag!!!

HOW deep is that pack from top to bottom in inches for storage. Figuring out the longest air rifle I could fit in there.
I did like how he said...since we have the room do we have to fill it? no that is our disease as gear heads lol.

Not the biggest pack, the biggest ive found is the eberlestock battleship
