@@NotSimo Is it the only mod you have on? I kinda want to play as a Freelancer too but the game seems to dislike me having some other mods (it spawns all militia archers as nigh-invulnerable kids, for some reason).
In warband there is a mod of game of thrones, its fucking incredible and you can serve in an army. You have a lot of events being part of the group and you start to rank in the army. You can leave your lord in the night or flee in a loss battle and maintain your gear but you will see as a traitor, very inmersive.
@@cernunnos8344 you will need a nice pc because the mod is heavy, un my old pc i cant played xd i hope you enjoy the mod, its nice and the creators still update the mod
there's a lot of overhaul mod like that on warband that have the same feature, like The Last Days of the Third Age mod (The Lord of the Rings mod) where you can join Mordor, Rohan, Gondor, Isengard, etc. There's a 108 Heroes mod if you fancy warring state period in china. My favorite is Gekokujo - Daimyo Edition mod, set on Japan feudal era where you can become merchant, buying house, owning property & land then set a rent for it to give you nice extra income per month, can even have a business in town, or just go serve any daimyo (lord) & start from foot soldier work your rank up to samurai.
Starting as a regular soldier is always my first step when I start a Bannerlord campaign, I really prefer it to just create an army from nothing. Instead I slowly build my reputation as soldier, raise the ranks and be seen as a leader. When I reach the highest rank or become the general's bodyguard is when I consider parting ways and creating my own warband.
There is an updated version of the "Freelancer" mod that is called "Serve as soldier". It's actually a separate mod with different code and some differences in mechanics. It was created because the author of the freelancer mod announced that he will no longer be modding for Bannerlord. You might want to check that out if you ever want to play it in an updated version.
I was up til 3am watching your videos and found myself hopping on to watch some more, so you got my sun on this one bud, good content, love that you’re leaning into the story of the character and really getting into it. Keep up the hard work bud, it’s awesome
Pretty good introduction for a nice story, only thing that's lacking is what happened with his love that you showed, surely that's an important part of the story. You can for example say 0:25 his love was killed by the Khuzait so he swore revenge against them.
Dude, this was a good story as well as very hilarious. I like how you blend modern gamer talk with solid military jargon and enemy insults are just too funny. Best part was that castle siege where we saw the guy join the Khuzait space program. LMAO! XD I will watch this series. TY for making these funny videos but also putting a nice story element in there. I am genuinely invested in Darius' progression now. :) GG
Honestly I hope the freelancer mod gets integrated to vanilla, it adds tons of potential story opportunities and also you can stuff like if you join one of the unique clans and stay with them for a good while you get access to their troop tree for your own party.
It makes far more sense to gain renown as a soldier, ranking up and being granted lands, than the typical "nobody" that the soldiers of a Kingdom will follow in full uniform with no mind paid by the Nobles and Kings lol
@@Jixxor You can get captured and executed if you have enemies I think but I'm not aware of actually dying on the battlefield. Maybe there's a mod for that?
I definitely think the Permadeath odds should depend on whether your side Wins the battle, since they’ll be able to heal you if they do, and You’ll likely be fending for yourself if they don’t.
I always loved this mod in Warband, this was my main thing, join a kings army (or any noble) and march. I love making my way through ranks, getting better gear etc. This mod should be implemented to the full game of Bannerlord.
Can you imagine being Lucon where one day you see this weird citizen running at you while being charged at by roughly 10 hill bandits for him to then ask you for a job basically. THEN a few days later you forget about this guy and you're in the middle of the seasons first large battle when suddenly this little peasant dude with his pitchfork does a wild ass jump lunge attack taking a cavalier soldier out with one smack to the back of the head. M&B is just pure chaos and I love it, great first episode of the series can't wait for more!
This looks like a good series. You could do the Fable thing and give him a new scar (if able) every time he goes down until you figure out the perma death thing. Great work 😎❄️
Hi Simo, I'm glad you're finally back! I'm posting this comment like 3 minutes into the video and I wanted to say that I can think of two ways to implement permadeath (to be counted only from the 2nd episode and onwards): first method would be through "lives", in which you get a limited amount of safe knockouts before your next one gets you killed, so let's say you have 5 lives, that means you get knocked out 5 times and the 6th is permadeath; the other method would be through coin tosses, maybe not a literal coin but you alt-tab and show us you using a cointoss website for every knockout. Second one is a bit more tedious but gets things more tense right from episode 2, while the first method keeps you on your toes only later on as the episodes roll by. Best wishes btw
This series introduced me to your channel and wow can I say your dedication to telling the story of Darius is why I’m gonna be coming back! Love the channel and content, keep it up!
Not sure if anyone already pointed this out but the party on 9:40 is actually lord's army (clan osticos, probably arcor) who died on the battlefield and now they are going to reinforce some garrison
6:52 in terms of threat level, you're a Russian soldier at Stalingrad trying to find both bullets and a gun. 11:03 a scorpio was an early artillery piece, but it was a bit smaller than a full size ballista. Difficult to tell which it is from this far out. 15:25 yep, scorpio.
For Perma death. Everytime you get knocked out by a bladed weapon you should roll a die and depending on location you should have a specific number for if your character lives or dies. Example hit to head (knocks you out) with sword 2 or less your character does. Etc
whenever you "die" roll the dice, first it will be a 10% death chance the next 20% after that 30% and so-on-and-so-forth. adequate risk every time and a finite amount of luck.
That is a very interesting series idea. I haven't played the game in a year or so, but for permadeath I'd probably say that a strike system would work, where you have 3 lives and any time you get captured you lose one, 3rd capture is "death". Something along those lines. Could be a really interesting series which would naturally generate seasons. Hardest everything, be a soldier, follow rp rules and see how far you get. No "I'm the main character" stuff.
Good stuff man and when the content makes the creator have fun it grows on the viewers. Glad I found this channel. Cheers mate and may your 2022 be the best year yet

"Giving him a narly scar" proceeeds to show a picture of the dude's head being chopped off. 0:21

Don’t know how to implement permadeath? Implement it yourself. In the immortal words of Ivan Drago, “if he dies, he dies.”
