    This spot is just before the Poatsh open mines and close to the ending scene in Thelma And Louise, where they drive off the cliff into the Colorado River. I first drove into Moab in 1987. I had this epiphany that Moab would become the Aspen Colo of the South West. It was soon overrun with mountain bikes, by 1989 and 4wd had been there in 1000's from many years. So although I go to Utah every year I sort of stay away from Moab. Just too many people. Even Blanding and Hanksville are getting all prissy with hotels and such. For free camping find rd 211 and go into beef basin. behind the needles. long dirt roads.

    Thanks for sharing so an old Easterner can see the west! And, I also like the soothing background music. I've stopped many videos because of nerve racking music! Good job.

    I wondered when you installed this new mufler. I did not want to say anything bad about it so I kept quit. To me, the extra noise does not justify any extra power. I like my stock muffler as it brings me where ever I want. By the way, it is nice to see so much greenery in your area. Snow has just finish melting here today. Looking for my first ride this weekend.

    Thank you for this video! I was arguing with someone recently that national parks and stuff shouldn't only be for the rich while charging $20 bucks for entry and they acted like I was crazy for thinking that was expensive. I was like 'sorry life costs thing and 20 more dollars spent on a trip is a lot."

      @enigmaticnomadics  8 лет назад +1

      +than217 Indeed the parks can use the revenue, but we all feel the pinch when we hand over that fee! ~James

      +Enigmatic Nomadics I will definitely be using this spot next time I go. I parked nearby last time at the Shafer Campground in Canyonlands and it cost a lot. It's just a few miles away on the Potash Road.

      It's $25 now. If you are 62 or older you can get a federal parks lifetime pass and go in for free. We did take our dog with us in Arches and Canyonlands parks. Had to keep the generator and AC running when we left her in the RV. We let her out for walks away from the main trail heads. Great video.

    Bit of advise, I used to have one of those Astro vans--inspect the rubber hoses that connect to the transmission oil cooler. When the $0.23 rubber line gets old and breaks, it pumps all the fluid out and by the time u realize something wrong, u find out what a $2000 transmission costs!!

      I do not share the 'keep it a secret. Service-to-self before service-to-others' mind set you are implying kong3. Take a look at Reddit, freecanpsites.net, campendium, youtube, instagram, facebook, twitter, all brimming with info on free camping and resources in Moab and the like. Take a good solid look at social media. Were not in Kansas OR 1984 ANYMORE. Selfishness is a perfect mess of it's own. Now get off my lawn.

    I'm headed out to Moab this March with a buddy and we plan to camp free and on some beautiful land away from other 'traditional' campers. Looks like you found the perfect spot. What's the best way to get to the coordinates you provided without a smartphone? I've been looking at GPS on amazon but I'm pretty new to this so any help/advice you can give would be appreciated! Great video!

      Jamie, after giving it some thought, I went ahead and got a thetford porta-potty... I figured it would be a good idea to have some options. Now I can have a mens AND ladies room! :) Maybe even have a urinal! Turn my cargo trailer into a rolling number 1 and number 2 processing vehicle! :)

    So did i hear NO PETS in the park? If so how did you manage to keep your pups down and cool that day?

    • @enigmaticnomadics
      @enigmaticnomadics  9 лет назад +2

      Larry Davs Larry pets are not permitted on the trail. NOT the park itself. I did a video that showed our method and showed the before and after temps in the van right on the video, which was 83 degrees with circulated air. Our van is FAR from stock in MANY ways that account for animals, but some righteous crusaders just see "Moab" "Dogs in vans" and don't compute recognizing the exact temperatures and methods we use, so I took the video down. I have learned that reason and logic aren't always recognized and this isn't a battle I care to put energy into.

      Dr Dan....baloney! In the 50's you could camp anywhere and then...the few ruined it for the many. Trash, crap and vandalism. There are twice as many people on the planet now and everyone cannot camp anywhere they want. It has nothing to do with your least favorite politician so stop blaming others for your lot in life. Get out there and lobby for more free camping. Whine less...do more.
