@@claqyagami6914pro tip. As soon as you get a new bike, schedule the first service the same day and just force yourself to put on the miles. When I got my street triple I scheduled it for the week after and I put on the 600 miles in 5 days (and I work full time). I left just enough miles to make it from my house to the dealer to be at exactly 600

I'll add one additional term, apparently just for those in Utah - "bullet bike." It's really just a catch all term for sport bikes, but I've heard it from almost every Utah native since moving here, except of course the people who actually ride sport bikes. I assume it's a result of sensitive mormon tongues not wanting to use the word "crotch" in their derogatory nicknames for fast motorcycles. But there ya go - that's something you learned today.

I started riding back in the early 90's. We didn't have the term "squids" but we did have squids; I was one. The old heads of the day referred to us as squirrelly kids. Is that where "squids" came from? I have no idea
Navy towns had squids in the 90’s. Whenever a sport bike flew by people would say, stupid squid or something more derogatory.

The first time I heard it must have been in around 2006
Started riding in my 30s 2005 ish. Almost too old to ride now. Just lost a riding buddy cruising @ 140 mph when a passenger car pulled out, left hand turn. Found my buddy 45 mins later still alive, but he passed away in hospital.

I don't know what the origin of Squid is, but it's not an acronym. The origin of a word is never an acronym. People love believing that the origin of a word is an acronym and it is literally never true. Like the old myth that Adidas stands for All Day I Dream About Sports. Zener diode. A rectifier for old school generates. Hit a pothole, bottom seat. Totally electrically dead. Because you cracked the Zener diode. Always rode with two! spares.
Whitworth. The bolt system used in Britain. Not metric not SAE.
Springer. Front end from just after WW II. Drop in mod on a Norton frame.
Dee-dee. Vietnam era slang. Leave exceptionally fast. Let’s dee-dee!
Sprocket games. Decreasing front sprocket and/or increasing the rear. Object: faster off the line than stock. Most racers know this.
Clipons. low short bars on a cafe racer. Similar to some sportbikes but without a riser
Mods vs. Rockers. Mods on vespas, high fashion. Rockers fast twins. The original cafe racer guys.
Beezer -> BSA.
Norton’s snorted.
Trumpet -> Triumph
anything below 500cc was toy, 850 was a big engine. Except for cruisers which were slower.
Candy Apple. A type of rich, often metal flaked paint. Popularized by Tom Wolfe’s Candy Apple Metal-flake Baby. My tank was Apricot.
