Marc Daryl Mateo they don't. ER's are required by law to give people in need care, citizen or not, rich or poor. if Kimmel was an illegal Mexican with $0, his son would still have had surgery. The issue occurs if someone has lifelong problems that ARENT life or death, or are extremely hard to get like transplant surgery.

I believe you're mistaken. Hospitals are only required to give critical life saving treatment. No hospital or doctor is required to give ongoing care to a chronically ill patient, like Jimmy's son. Heart disease is a chronic illness.
We are still one of the richest nations on earth and we shouldn't have to worry if our kids can get a free lunch at school, get life saving surgery or get the education we need. Especially when the president is blowing money left and right on golf and his wife and son's Secret Service protection because they don't want to live in the White House.
He's already spent more money on golfing trips than the government was spending on Meals on Wheels. He had no problem cutting the funds to that.
It's very hard to see so many in need.

Well, we just save their life and then we spend whatever YEARS it takes to pay the bills. It isn't even an option. You just do the right thing and then deal with the consequences later. It's just the only option really. Happy for Jimmy it all worked out. What a horrific thing to go through right after having the best moment of your life with having a son to the absolute worst moment having to wonder if you'll lose your baby. It's pretty special seeing Jimmy have a real human moment and share that with millions.

to breeders (though I agree: their children should get care - not their fault they were forced into this world against their will) to religionists, to republican voters, to democrat voters.
There is no scientific proof that anti-science anti-math anti-logic people "suffer" from massive blood loss or oxygen not getting to their cells. Flatearthers, antivaxxars, moonlanding deniers, Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) denies, christians, muslims, Wall Street defenders, LOVE having their kidneys or livers or hearts fail.
Or getting blood clots in their legs or brains. This is just atoms moving around in different directions for them.

Hospital employees are angels on Earth. I know because I work in the Dietary Department of my local hospital; even though employees in Dietary, Housekeeping, and Maintenance are considered "behind the scenes" employees we are just as important as the doctors and nurses. Employees in Dietary have a responsibility to properly feed the staff, employees and visitors. Housekeepers have a responsibility to keep the patient rooms clean and sanitary and maintenance workers have a responsibility to make sure the electricity and plumbing are functioning properly.

Damián V could of done something more positive with your life besides being a lawyer. I'm joking. I was born with the same heart defect. Ran a half-marathon in 2015. Proudest day of my life. Sending you positive vibes my brother from another mother.

Imagine being the parents that couldn't afford the healthcare cost if their child was born with a heart defect ☹️ Everyone should have access to healthcare by being a citizen of this country.

Agreed. That's what I like the most here in Norway. The "free" healthcare that is being funded by our taxes. Making it worth paying quite a lot in taxes because of this.

In Norway healthcare is free until you're 18 - no matter how big the cause is. When passed 18 you have to pay for medical appointments, but when you pass 200$ spent on healthcare, the government covers the rest. Last year I had quite a few visits to the doctors office, ended up paying 220$ (2162 NOK), and they found out I had a very rare disease called "Lemierres Syndrome". I had to be fled in an ambulance airplane twice, had two CT scans, one MRI, two X-rays and eight ultrasound-checks, as well as three weeks spent in two different hospitals where I needed breathing assitance, pills and morphine. That would cost about 814 076,69 USD, but I payed zero.
I don't work, so I don't have health insurance, but in Norway you do not _need_ health insurance. Noone is _allowed_ to pay more than 200$ on doctors appointments. Me and my family are not very financially stable, so we would've gone bankrupt, but we didn't because healthcare is free here - no matter how much the cost is.
Yea, we do pay a lot of taxes. I think like 20% of our salaries are taken away because of taxes, but then again we have free childcare, we have 100% maternity leave for moms _and_ dads up to 12 months, we have free hospital visits, we have free school from 1st grade in primary, and you get free loans for college, without needing a deposit first.
If I make 2 billion USD every year in the future, I will GLADLY pay my 20% taxes. Because it means that _everyone_ in my country is safe, for sure - no matter if they're born in a poor or a rich family. I know that in the U.S. a lot of people don't pay their taxes, but in Norway everyone does. Noone will want to be friends with you if they find out that you don't pay taxes, it's the least socially acceptable thing you can do here.
USA is a great country with so many qualities, and I've dreamt of living there since I was six years old. It is INSANE to me that this is not a primary right for all Americans yet. This should seriously be the #1 priority with ANY candidate, for ALL the parties. We are all human, we all get sick, that's how life works - even in America.

Norwegian Koala That is how it is here in Italy too. Doesn't work as well as Norway (nothing does here) but still, a million times better than in the States. I am American but have lived here for many years, and one of the reasons I stay here is because I can't even conceive of living anymore in a country where health care is not considered a right. My daughter was born with a genetic disorder and has been and out of hospitals all her life, had multiple operations, and we never paid a cent. I would never be able to get her care in the States. It is disgraceful that every other civilized country has health care for all, everyone except the United States. I have heard many people say "Oh, but socialized medicine doesn't work, you have to wait in long lines, you don't get quality care, and blah blah." This from people who have never experienced it and don't know first hand, they only say what they have been made to believe. True, taxes here are outrageous (more , I believe than in Norway), and unlike in your lovely country, many people (the rich mostly) get away with tax evasion, but I would rather pay taxes that I know help people who are in my same kind of situation or worse, than enrich insurance companies. Unfortunately so many Americans are too close minded to even listen to such arguments. They seem to think their"rights" are being taken away. Bernie Sanders would like to change this, I hope it does change but as America is getting dumber rather than smarter, it seems unlikely.

And he has kids that all grown up like let them over. I understand that he’s remarried but does he really be raising teenagers young adults in his 60’s and 70’s. And that age I’d want grandchildren.

Wow! You had an amazing nurse. As a nurse and nurse practitioner, we are are the front line. We have something called “nurse’s intuition”, which guides us to find subtle abnormalities. For her to catch TOF (tetralogy of Fallot) so quickly is truly talented and highly skilled. We are sadly underpaid and overworked in comparison to the level of care we provide. I continued on to nurse practitioner so I could continue honing my skills. I have saved many lives, and I have to tell you, it’s the most amazingly fulfilling feeling. It makes those stressful days of “Where’s the Doctor? I want to see a doctor!”, drug seekers and the massive amounts of documentation and hoop jumping seem infinitely minuscule. We take our work everywhere as well, and can’t help but diagnose anyone we see out in public. I am so glad his TOF was found and surgically corrected so quickly!

You are so right! Some people catch it and some don't. My son Mikey was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCAS. About two hours after my c-section, I noticed he turned solid purple and got the nurse. Things blew up and got very scary, very fast.
