We also mentioned having clean clutch pads is important: That tutorial is here: • How to Clean the Clutc...
We heard you on the long-ish intro and "not 'Lost in Space' again!" comments. Jetsons okay? :)
Nice! Would love to see how to clean and re-lubricate the worm and ring gears too sometime, especially how to reassemble and recalibrate clearances for good guiding.
Thank you for these videos, they are fun and informative, and certainly love seeing the support done by Losmandy.
Thanks Sean - we enjoy making them for you too
Good video. What solvent and grease does Losmandy use?
I have a 20 year old G11 that I'm about to disassemble and clean. Thanks for this video Scott. 8)))
Thanks, Scott. My mount is only a year old but I guess it’s time for me to order this kit and give it a cleaning!
Omg.... you are a genius
Just recently did this exact service with my G11 for the first time. Prior to pulling it apart, cleaning and re-greasing, the clutch knobs worked well. Now the RA clutch knob tightens all the way but doesn't actually lock the axis in place. Have taken the nylon clutch disc out and ensured it is clean and dry. What else could be causing this? The wrong grease? I used a silicon based lubricant.
I may have missed it but often should this be done?
Hi Nick - it really depends on your environment, but every 1-2 years is a nice idea
Well you don’t want to wait 11 years like I did ( 8 years in storage)! What a grody-grungy greasy mess I just cleaned off my G11. Thanks guys for the video and the cleaning kit.
Hello, can i use the losmandy G11 with an ascom driver and APT? Then i can retire my Orion Atlas EQ-G
Yes, all Losmandy mounts with Gemini have an excellent ASCOM software and soft controller in the Gemini Telescope.net. you can find it from the ascom website under telescope drivers here ascom-standards.org/Downloads/ScopeDrivers.htm
