For those of you considering the Slimpar 38's, DON'T DO IT!!! I bought some of the 38's and the 64's. I ended up returning the 38's because the yoke on the fixture is not long enough to run your cords out the back. Sure you could get an angled AC cord for 'power in' but then you would also need an angled IEC for power linking. You would also need angled DMX cables in and out making this fixture a NO GO in my books. The 64 however is great! I am happy to say that I now own 18 of the Slimpar 64's.
I'm completely new to lighting and would like to get a similar light system as you used in this video for my band to use in live performances. Would it be possible to have the lights react to a beat but produce only one color, such as red, rather than cycle through all the colors? Would it be possible to program that on the light itself without using the DMC controller?
Hi Bobby! How do you find the 38 compares with the 64 in terms of brightness in an uplighting situation? The 64 is rated at over double the output of the 38 and I was wondering how far up a wall you figure each is good for. I'm buying the 38's but feel I may need a couple 64's for a particular venue that I work at frequently. This venue has two very high pillars in it's vaulted area, then drops to a lower height down the wings. I was thinking that I would need the 64's for those two columns.
Any way to get it to switch between 2 colours only, either on sound active or not? What sort of dmx controller would i need because as far as i can see the obey 3 won't be able to do this?
Why would you bother getting a tiny desk when you could get a USB to DMX converter and run a digital desk from a laptop or desk top and have all 512 DMX channels? When you buy expensive stuff you should make sure you have room to grow or expand with out having to spend more money than you need to.
I'm new to lighting and looked all over RUclips to find out D 1 is the correct setting.
Thank You!! great video!
This actually helped! Thanks.
yes you can just make sure that the dmx address on all fixtures are set to 1
