Man, this is THE BEST video I’ve seen for ball python beginners. Such great tips: water bowl move for humidity, how to tall if they’re hungry, how to thaw out prey, and I NEVER heard of anyone leaving prey in thanks. Almost have to confidence to make a set up. Now I just have to convince my wife 😉
I just rescued a python named Zeus and this video was a HUGE help for me. He's my first snake, but not my first reptile. I've got a bit of work to do with him to get him back into better health and I'm sure you've got more videos that will help with that. Thank you for taking the time to make videos like this for us. We appreciate the information and all your tips and tricks. I'm a bit nervous with feeding him because he's only ever had live food and I would much rather him eat the frozen thawed rodents but he was just fed 4 days ago so I've a while before I can test his reaction to the frozen mouse I have for him. Btw, I live in Kentucky, US and we call them Ball Pythons. =)
I called my royal python Cleo after I heard the story about cleopatra having royal pythons and wearing them as bracelets. I found your channel only yesterday while looking for information about the Doncaster reptile show and I’m glad to say I’ll be there, hoping to possibly see you there, loving your videos so far!
We had a corn snake up until a few years ago and sadly had to let him go to someone else. Next year I am considering getting another viv set up and love ball pythons. I’m considering a five foot long viv, heat mat source at one end with a temperature probe on it, with a glass protector so that the snake doesn’t get burned, a large ceramic dog bowl for bathing and drinking, a large hide over the hot side, maybe a pipe or some fake wood for him or her to hide under if they want to, going to use an external temperature control similar to what we had with our corn, bedding wise I’m looking at stepping away from Aspen and may go down the coconut route 🤔 going to add a few fake plants and a few small branches for the snake to climb up at a low level so it’s safe if they fall. I would probably place an internal stick on thermometer and hydrometer to keep an eye on the environmental situation. I am going to watch more videos to gain an understanding of ball pythons. I believe they are docile, will curl into a ball if scared and for the first few weeks I would leave the snake to adjust to there environment before feeding and handling. I’ll pick up a book to do research, when we have the snake I’ll keep a notebook handy of temps, humidity feeding schedule etc. I’ll also keep a canvas bag to place the snake into keep an eye on weight. If I get a small one I’ll start off on pinkies then move gradually up onto rats. I’m going to do my research of where to buy a snake and get one from a reputable breeder. Your videos will provide very valuable information and guidance.
Very helpful video made it easy for someone to understand how care for royal python .ball python . Thanks pal it help me out when I get my snake as took while off keeping Snakes and now want try again 👍
I use gloves when I'm feeding my corn shake so she knows when I'm farthing about in her viv rearranging stuff etc it isn't feeding time so she just sticks her nose out of the hide to see what I'm doing then goes back in again. She doesn't like being handled so I tend not to do it but she is a good temperament.she is called sherbet because she looks like that sherbet you used to be able to buy by the quarter when you were kids, a pinky orange colour with a cool yellow stripe down the her sides and a pure white under belly. I feed her between 7-10 days, I wait until she goes into hunting mode too. She becomes more active than usual. Helpful video Richard x
My Royal Python is called Pris... after Darryl Hannah’s replicant character in Blade Runner. She’s my rescue and she is adorable and friendly and she loves climbing and exploring. She’s a bit of a Diva and she’s strong headed. I just adore her. She’s my emotional support Snake.
The ball Python I'm getting has lived in a racking system her whole life she is young still and the Breeder I'm getting her from says she is a bit hissy and very tense when you hold her so she's working with her to tame her for me because this is my first snake so fingers crossed lol that all goes well!
Here in Canada we call them ball pythons, but I actually like royal better. My first 2 are called Kahn and Kaiser (after German football players). Once I got female I abandoned the idea to build my dream football team and went with Olivia and Piper. I have my late husband’s balls too, they are Monty, Blazen, Flames and Chronic. My 5 adopted rescue boas already had names: Mr. Wigglesworth, Kali, Holly, Freddy and Cyrus. The most recent addition is a Jungle Carpet python called Pikachu cos of the yellow and black colors
My female ball python is named Achillea, the scientific name for Yarrow. It's a flower with a common yellow variety, and my BP is a bright yellow pastel. It's named after Achilles because he supposedly used yarrow to heal wounds on the battlefield. Since it's the name of a flower, they made it female, Achillea. So it's both the name of a yellow flower, and the female version of Achilles. Perfect for a yellow female Python imo.
Watching this because I'm planning on getting a Royal Python once I've moved to somewhere larger, and I want to do as much research as possible and know everything I possibly can about how to keep them happy and healthy before I do, so thanks for doing such an informative video! I'm going to be calling mine Indiana - I thought the irony would be funny seeing as Indiana Jones is terrified of snakes, and I love those movies.
Great advice. Had mine for a couple of years now. One thing I would tell new people is not to worry about moving up in prey size. I think a lot of new.owners assume as their snake grows their food has to. Mine stopped eating for a.month and as.soon as I dropped back to small weaners she has been like clockwork ever since.
My royal is called Zeus, because he is pastel enchi so the yellow represents that lightning and the black represents the dark clouds, it took me about a month to come up with this 😂
my 2 royals are from the same clutch, just normals. morticia and wednesday are there names, 2 years old now and they have always been housed together in a 50gal exo terra bio active works very well for these snakes, mine survived 18 months before i let it dry out for to long and all the plants, spring tails, isopods, and red worms died off unfortunately 😭 live feeding is my choice, so natural enrichment here in the US
Royal python" I've bought myself 2 baby Royal pythons is it best to keep them away from each other at the moment there 4 months old, whats the best size vivarium I've bought a 4 ft already but what should be the best
my royal is named princess she is a albino enchi spider just over 10 months old she never turned down meal poops drinks and shedding as she should, i'm now getting a corn snake in a few day
I feed Pris medium rats. She’s around 3-4 1/2 years old. She eats one once every 7-10 days. I sometimes stagger the days and times just to get some variety.. in nature they wouldn’t eat at a set time or day. So I try and replicate that.
Been watching the Americans for 2 weeks honestly what a fuck around 🤦🏻♂️ someone English gets straight to the point! At last someone who’s not over communicating things 😊
I have a ball python his name is prince. I got him as a hatchling last July. And I do the same thing when it comes feeding. I waiting for him to come out hunting. And he has never refused a meal. He's my first snake and my sister thinks I'm insane lol
@@NORTHERNEXOTICS absolutely! I know your supposed to do the same with tarantulas but alot of people don't and then they end up with over fed animals. I couldn't even tell u the day I fed him last, like what day of the week it was, I just feed him when I see him out hunting.

You have a large platform here to teach new keepers how to correctly care for snakes and you tell them to use a heat mat! Why not make a video showing the correct and safest way rather than calling that an "advanced" way of keeping?! By making this you have allowed new keepers to not heat their reptiles correctly and created an excuse for them to do so.
Hello I'm doing my research for a python now but I've been told by several care guides to use a heat mat. R they not correct and what would be a better option.
