Lucy is amazing at age 10! You can see she is quite a talented singer.she has great stage presence. At 15 she has a beautiful low range and then went into A higher and fuller range Which is quite beautiful.
At this age 10 years, itshows she have the talent, the pure, plain perfect word's. The vibrato is beautiful vocalized. Now: The voice already have depth matured and the voice is more rounded. The Amazing vocals strenght control and beautiful tone quality, she have the perfect pitch and the best female vocalist in the world.
An excellent reaction on Lucy's voice when 10 years of age singing Run by Snow Patrol then singing the same song when she was 15 years of age, you could hear the difference and maturity of her voice , now Lucy is 19 years of age and she has one of the greatest voices of this generation, she is a very special young girl.
Whilst trolling through u-tube,& being a big Snow Patrol fan,I came across Lucy singing' Run' about 3 years ago,so took a listen, never looked back since that day as I discovered one of the finest vocalists on the planet!,beautiful young lady with a beautiful Soul, I bless the day I found her🥰. By the way,Snow Patrol are an Irish/Scottish band,'Run' is off their 1994 classic album 'Final Straw',& has been covered by a number of artists!.🙂
Modern wired microphones work wherever the mic is held on the handle or in a stand. Different mics are used for directional or ambient with the dB levels adjusted. As you say the mic looks like an SM58. You are correct what you said about cupping by covering the mic head, however some great rock star do that. Lucy wasn’t covering the microphone head with her hands. She had her hand close to the back of the head but didn’t cup the mic and the mic was correctly distanced for solo directional singing as she sang. Lucy knows how to use the mic and this is her technique, and she holds the mic the same singing perfectly live. I cannot say if that was the final or actual recording or not, but there is nothing to state it wasn’t. The recording will have been made there, if you want to call a back room a studio. Obviously there were different camera angles, so it has been edited. So maybe you are correct, we won’t know.
Thanks Chris!! It’s only taken me 7 months to respond! I can’t speak to what you said as I’ve used both older and newer mics. Anytime you cup a unidirectional mic it becomes Omni directional. It can be modern or not. There are many types of mics I agree, but the all abide by the laws of physics. Sounded dickish but I’m not trying to be However, I’ll be in my local mic store tomorrow so I’ll talk to them then. I’m absolutely willing to be wrong Thanks brother
@@Anothercoverlover62 Jeff you know a lot more about mics than I do. I’ve personally watched Lucy front row twice plus watched other recorded live performances where she similarly holds the mic. I’ve also watched Allie Sherlock sing live and cup the mic even more. Maybe I just didn’t notice a difference in quality, but sounded good to me. As for this recording it’s a video so isn’t live. Lucy is singing but we are listening to the final edited production. So quite possibly you are correct in your assumption.
AnotherCoverLover, Lucy, at age 15, has had the same vocal coach, Carolyn Hudson, for 8 years at this time of her 2nd 'Run' version! With Lucy's outstanding coaching, practice, and superb DNA assistance (talent), Lucy is the best solo performer I have ever heard and seen and, if I can get tickets to see her live at the premier of "Rosie", her upcoming musical, well this is looking to stack up as possibly the best musical to EVER debut! I mean, look at the performances from Lucy and Chris Broom's brilliant songwriting, wow, wow, wow!!!
I'm glad you put this up. The evolution of a future songbird superstar. The first time I saw the version at ten I was awed, smiling with tears in my eyes. I have been watching her for years now. The growth in her voice in just a phenom. In my opinion she is in a very small group of the best vocalists out there. She is still only 19, growing and maturing. She is going to someone very hard to best when she reaches full bloom. I hope to see it here. Thanks brother, a great day to you and yours.🤠
My observations-- At 10 yrs: good pitch and her vibrato showed through. She still had a youthful quality to her voice. Didn't quite have the lower range and depth at this point. At 15 yrs: More depth in her voice, it showed in the lows. Beautiful pitch control; even when jumping up an octave or two. Her voice on this one blends so well with backing track she could be another instrument. Plus, definitely more power beginning to show up. No wonder Hallelujah came across so well just a year later!
No losers on this comparison and Lucy wins outright. 🙂 Lucy’s version or 'Run' aged 15 is incredible and a song of it’s own, completely different to Snow Patrol’s original. All credit to Snow Patrol but if you compare those it would be no competition. Lucy singing Run turns your soul inside out, absolutely fabulous! She owns it!
Great comparison Glad you decided on this it shows how Lucy is progressing and now 19 years old she is the best female vocalist in the World. and is still so young.
Thank you Howard! A lot of people would I’m sure!! Her voice at 20 is still amazing! You won’t find this one but I’ve done other recent ones by her, and she’s amazing!!!
What a base to start from, at age 10 perfect pitch and clarity across a good range, but at 15 the breath control, maturity and depth improvement is so obvious. Her choices and the guidance of her coach is controlled and superb. No pushing - too many go too fast and burnout, not Lucy just always better, Will i am described her as perfect on the voice kids, she was, but has built on that year on year. Great reaction.
AnotherCoverLover, as evidenced by your cough and your somewhat stunned speech about 'heartreach', or whatever after the song ended, but you just got absorbed into her 15-yr old masterpiece performance.........OK, you figured out the obvious: Lucy will pull into her musical realm..........tap into your heart & soul..............and take you on a tranquil, serene journey into musical bliss! Yes, her power, but perfect vocals, are on display, even at 14 yrs of age, but its her ability to generate that emotional connection..........you feel what she feels......some call this the 'Lucy effect'.......I call it the 'magic' of Lucy Thomas
Brother next please react THE POWER OF LOVE ( Celine dion) cover by Vanny Vabiola. Vanny has an angelic voice, very beautiful melodic smooth and clear voice, so powerful

Northern Irish not Irish.
One is Irish whether from the South or the North,Gary Lightbody refers to himself as an Irish man!

Great work in this comparison. Thanks for doing this reaction. Lucy is a musical genius if such a thing exists.
Couldn't agree more!

Another great comparison and commentary❤
Great comparison. And to think, it was only a year later at 16 she recorded that astounding version of Hallelujah.
Thats a beautiful rendition of that song!!

One of my favorite Lucy songs, especially (obviously) the one sung at 15. Thanks for the comparison. She’s just awesome!
❤I Love Lucy!❤👍
As far as I know all of the indoor recordings with this handheld mike were done during COVID lockdown at home. She is fantastic.
