If Jay or his staff read this- please do a JLG on Jay's 56 Chev El Morocco. Also a full episode on the Y2K Jet bike, Blastolene tank roadster, LCC rocket, and/or the pre-WW2 LeMans cars would be awesome. Jay has so many incredible cars and bikes, but these in particular have little online info on them, and I think a lot of people, like myself, would love Mr Leno's unique insight on these cars. Thanks
Are they on youtube? I can't find anything from JLG on the tank roadster (although I've clips from other shows, like MyClassicCarTV, on it). And the 2 minute clip on the Y2Kbike is cool, but I'd love to see a full episode on such an unusual bike.
Rally cars are a natural for Porsche, after Porsche built a lot of the German military vehicles in the Second World War and Porsche doesn't waste their expertise. Nice build by Patrick Long and the money went to a great cause. Thank you Jay, Patrick and Eli for this great video. The way things are going in North America, with the lack of road maintenance, all cars will have to built like this.
Thank you Jay, and production! These are all so good and incredibly interesting. The rarity of the machines mean nothing if you don't show off why they're worth keeping.
crusherbmx Matt Farah recently drove a rally inspired 911 similar to this. I think it was for Drive but it may have been on The Smoking Tire. Either way it's a lot like this car except a burgundy color.
I'm gonna say something unpopular but true. Trailing arm Porsches do not make good rally cars. Trailing arms have absolutely terrible bump steer. And this is a very bad thing for a rear engine rear drive car trying to go over jumps. Change the rear suspension design and all is well tho.
"I had it tucked in my hangar for about a year" ok, so props to this guy for truly following his passion - God knows he can afford pretty much anything..
These are a bit too valuable now for me to be comfortable modding them, but it looks good. I wouldn't have been able to mod this like that, but glad you did
Congrats Patrick Long and getting some great recognition for this car!! It's gorgeous and functional, you can have both lol. 🇺🇸🏁🇩🇪 See you at Luftgekühlt!
That was brilliant, old cars have so much more style mostly than new ones, old 911 for example, that is what a 911 is supposed to look like, not the silly lights laying down for aero. Top vid, loved the hill climb :O)
This is by far my most favorite modified Porsche 911 I've ever seen! A practical vehicle that's fun-to-drive and the fun doesn't end if the pavement ends! :D 2:18 "...and not worry about shifting." "It's just so easy. Just get a divorce. Keep the manual shift car." LOL! Exactly the right answer, Jay! Also, I had no idea Patrick Long had such an awesome, original idea for an air-cooled Porsche 911.
Another Porsche this, Porsche that, Porsche, Porsche white, red, silver, blue, black, Pors... Nice favorite, if only I can afford to drive car. Thank you showing this Porsche.
Jay me and my friend used to make rally cars out of old Toyota Celica's back in our early 20's in the 1980's. We beat them to death on the logging roads here in Washington state. Loads of fun buy a car for $500 and run the hell out of it until it broke and do it all over again. Damn I need to go get another one
i think jay should do a video on some of the current affordable everyday cars, i would love his take on those cars, like the new mazda 6, accord, civics, ford fiesta etc and the new civic type r !!
ive raced in the desert most of my life( California, Mexico and Nevada). We used a Porsche engine and transmission in our off road car for years.. They are bullet proof!! We could achieve about 18 inches of travel out of a Porsche trans axle. now days its a bit more exotic but some people are still competitive with the Porsche set up MORE OFF ROAD PLEASE. I'll bet Mr Leno. could get the Terrible Herbst to show one of there cars
the 911 is like a ultimate automotive blank canvas.... so many amazing variants done by these guys...i think the unloved 996 will have new life with all these projects once these 964's and 993's start getting too expensive..
"If you think a car is rare, go to LA, you'll see two" - boy, ain't that the truth. I was in Malibu yesterday and saw two Ferrari 330 GT'C's in the same parking lot (there were only 660 of these things made)
Really cool build!! I love the idea of thrashing a Porsche off-road, always thought the rally Porsches were neat. I'd love a car like this on the dirt back roads of Michigan.
I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I couldn't find any other way to contact Jay Leno's Garage. There are a lot of interesting cars in the world and probably all of them deserve te be featured on this channel, but personally I have one request. If possible, it would be great if you guys could do a film on the Dodge Challenger that the late Brock Yates had built by Cotton Owens for some of the Cannonball coast-to-coast races in the 70's. Not only is this a great car with an interesting history, but you can also tell us more about Mr. Yates and those obscure races he organised. It's my understanding that his family still own the Challenger. Maybe you can work something out with them? Anyway... Love the channel. Probably my favourite on RUclips!
My condolences bro. And yep. It's THE "if you got it you're f*cked" cancer i think. Others at least give you a small fighting chance. Keep your head up!
Jay didn't post a video this Monday, so I decided to browse for an episode that I haven't watched. I noticed that the red line on the bottom on this video was only 1/5 across. Then I realized I tried to watch this three other times. I just can't get past Jay's two non-car-guy guests. The car is a bit ridiculous, but nothing compared to its "creator" and "owner" (who might be completely decent individuals). I tried to watch. Really I did. Ultimately I clicked near the end 19:17, to hear the Deusenberg horn so I could start my week.
I have a 240Z, if I can ever afford another it will be an African Safari Z, they did well in Africa with those too you know! There have been several 240Zs in the Peking-Paris recently and I want to try! 41 people thumbs down this??? They aren't petrolheads and shouldn't be watching then. * Oh and my aunt died of pancreatic cancer, it's the worst, don't even know you have it til it's way too late. SO thanks for anything that can be done for that.
I didn't. Got some heat when I didn't even tell her about it. Just bought the car (Cayenne), parked it in front of the house and she didn't even notice when she came home. But she could tell by my face and said "WHAT did you do!?" as she walked in while my niece was cracking up. I never looked back, that was a great decision and the best car I've owned. Occasionally I hear (three years later) "well you bought an expensive car without telling me"... I just ignore it :-).
@@sunsetrider45 my friend, that's exactly what you are supposed to do. would she even have a porsche cayenne in her life if it wasn't for you? these women are reactionary haha you gave her nothing to react to and look at you now. I'm glad you are happy in your life man. have a listen to the black Phillip show with Patrice O'Neal for some legit women insight and lots of laughs.
Leno driving with a straight face. Owner: This is one of the cars you can't stop smiling when you're driving it. Leno: (Puts a smile on his face) Yeah.
Jay was going a little too fast on that hill and you can tell the guy did not want to tell Jay to slow down. “That was a pretty serious hill there” hahahaha You want to go a little slower I think up and down that hill. Great 911
I wish rally was more mainstream here in America. . it's just about the most incredible motorsport .. I love it, we have events here but it's still a relatively small footprint compared to other stuff.
I've never done much in the way of routine maintenance on that year Porsche 911, but... Do the skid plates interfere with oil changes? Would the oil draining clear the plates? If worse comes to worse, naturally the plates are removable
"Just get a divorce, keep the manual shifter."
Another great quote from Jay.
That's like getting told "it's me or the dog"
An easy decision to make.
Words that will never leave my lips: "I had it tucked away in my hangar"...
We need more people like these guys. Pancreatic cancer took my pops out in two months, several years ago. Thanks Jay.
Thanks
He did the tank car 6 years ago, and the jet bike 3 years ago.
Rebar77 He never did a proper video on the jet bike. Hardly any info.
Are they on youtube? I can't find anything from JLG on the tank roadster (although I've clips from other shows, like MyClassicCarTV, on it). And the 2 minute clip on the Y2Kbike is cool, but I'd love to see a full episode on such an unusual bike.
My bad guys, it was the Classic Car and super short view of bike. I didn't look close enough, doh!
Some info has also been deleted from the Net without explanation as well.
I loved the cringed look on the owner's face as Jay decides to bottom the skid plate out several times.
Yeah I loved watching his "rally" car barely capable of puttering through the dirt.
Imagining a boulder slice the floor board lol
Despite the "long" 4 month build.. that thing does NOT look at home in the dirt.
Factory paint, stock engine and mostly bolt-on parts.
Four months doesn't seem that tight of a schedule for that.
Three car guys right there. Lots of unforced smiles and genuine passion for the hobby.
That it helped a worthy cause is icing on the cake.
As always, very enjoyable, fun, interesting and informative! I think the delivery and filming is just superb. Thanks for this.
Thank you Jay, and production! These are all so good and incredibly interesting. The rarity of the machines mean nothing if you don't show off why they're worth keeping.
jay leno constantly looks like my dad trying to read things from their smart phone.
@9:18 "I bid on it with my family" = my parents bought it for me.
Trust fund baby...
J Smith so? dont you want to buy things for your kids?
Scupacium of course he does, he just doesn't want them to end up like this guy or you. SNOWFLAKE
Who gives a $hit! Awesome car and seems like a good kid! Awesome episode
I think Jay said his name is ellie caulkin, there's an opera house in Co. named after an ellie caulkin, maybe his father or grandfather.
That is a Porshe I would use here in Canada in the winter ! Would be fun in the snow too.
Great video. Thank you
"Obviously, I raised the body 9 inches." Said no Porsche owner ever.....until now.
And hopefully more people try it now.
BuzZzKiller Ive actually seen two other lifted rally porsches, they're all awesome
crusherbmx Matt Farah recently drove a rally inspired 911 similar to this. I think it was for Drive but it may have been on The Smoking Tire. Either way it's a lot like this car except a burgundy color.

Trailing arms have absolutely terrible bump steer. And this is a very bad thing for a rear engine rear drive car trying to go over jumps.
Change the rear suspension design and all is well tho.
Braid USA also has one that they rallycross.
"I had it tucked in my hangar for about a year"
ok, so props to this guy for truly following his passion - God knows he can afford pretty much anything..
Racing drivers are not poor
These are a bit too valuable now for me to be comfortable modding them, but it looks good. I wouldn't have been able to mod this like that, but glad you did
18:00 The tire clearance was not adequate and the front driver side tire damaged the fender when Jay bounced it over those rocks and ruts.
It only hits if you're over 150 lbs, looked easy to fix.
Stored in his hangar. He had to put that out there
yup noticed that as well... eye roll
Yeah, I wrote the guy off at that point. Very humble
"If you think a car is rare, go to L.A., you'll see 2" - spot on, love it.
Ha ha... Jay getting giddy in the offroad section. I don't think I've ever seen you get giddy in previous videos. Impressed yes, but not giddy. :)
Love the "Rally" look!!! Great build!!!!!
Porsche Safari is a dream for any Porsche enthusiast! Great car!
When Jay Leno started giggling I lost it! He was genuinely enjoying himself.
That is fantastic
Jay doing donuts! now that you don't see everyday.
Congrats Patrick Long and getting some great recognition for this car!! It's gorgeous and functional, you can have both lol. 🇺🇸🏁🇩🇪 See you at Luftgekühlt!
17:10
LOL
12:59 a guy chasing his dog
huh hehoo hooo
The 17:43 is hilarious too, a little quiet hehoo.
Good ear!
Long seems to be an awesome guy
Jay you rock, thanks so much for your car show. I think I've seen more of these than Tonight Show episodes :)
Basically the coolest Porsche Ever!
That was brilliant, old cars have so much more style mostly than new ones, old 911 for example, that is what a 911 is supposed to look like, not the silly lights laying down for aero. Top vid, loved the hill climb :O)
alot of new cars are vulgar to the point of insanity .
You learn something new every day
This is by far my most favorite modified Porsche 911 I've ever seen! A practical vehicle that's fun-to-drive and the fun doesn't end if the pavement ends! :D

Yes. So much yes. Now all it needs is a Rothmanns or Martini livery.
Another Porsche this, Porsche that, Porsche, Porsche white, red, silver, blue, black, Pors... Nice favorite, if only I can afford to drive car. Thank you showing this Porsche.
LOL... Jay takes this dudes 911 off-roading... "This thing has 10 inches... [bang, crash]... of clearance".
Forced smile from the owner... hahaha
Jay me and my friend used to make rally cars out of old Toyota Celica's back in our early 20's in the 1980's. We beat them to death on the logging roads here in Washington state. This is giving me ideas about what to do with my '84 300SD dust-collector.
thanks jay for another great car review!
He tried so hard to make small talk, very interesting car, good job Jay trying to keep us entertained.
Cool idea. I used to think VW Baja bugs were a joke until I rode in one. To make a Porsche version seems like a pretty cool twist to that concept.
ive raced in the desert most of my life( California, Mexico and Nevada). We used a Porsche engine and transmission in our off road car for years.. They are bullet proof!! Looked so much better as it was before the transformation.
Greg Agnew there's a long history of safari 911. Read a book
Jay is giddy! Wow this car touched a nerve!
I LOVE IT! And the "kid on a BMX bike" is a perfect analogy...or adult on a BMX....
One of the best episodes. Keep em coming Jay. Love the Garage!
After having watched this video, I'll be grinning for the rest of the day. Awesomesauce!
that's a seriously cool car. love the off road rallies and would love to see more cars like this.
OMG. Jay can giggle. Cool car. Great idea for a Fun daily driver.
"If you think a car is rare, go to LA, you'll see two" - boy, ain't that the truth. I was in Malibu yesterday and saw two Ferrari 330 GT'C's in the same parking lot (there were only 660 of these things made)
Man it's built like a tank. Nice one Jay, thanks.
21cdartmouthian ...you mean built like a Panzer.
Cool car! I can understand why rally cars are so addicting.
jay has a great spirit
11:52 - You get to see all 9 inches? Wow!
Really cool build!! I love the idea of thrashing a Porsche off-road, always thought the rally Porsches were neat. I'd love a car like this on the dirt back roads of Michigan.
G Man I thought the same thing
Nice car , Mr Lenos had a good time 😂
nice idea, great build. I took in an anemic 1985 subaru turbo engine.. forgotten history.
Mr jay, you make my work day a lot easier with these great vids, thankyou sir!!!
I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I couldn't find any other way to contact Jay Leno's Garage.

Most of the cars that Jay features are cars I would love to drive but not own. This is a car I'd like to own.
All I can say is FUN!👍😊👍😊👍😊
Sweet Car. Cool Dudes. Thanks Jay. When are we going to see a behind the scenes of your whole crew, camera guy, sound, etc.
Sweet looking Porsche.
Man, thank you for donating for pancreatic cancer, my mother died 10 months ago from it and it is one of the least known about but most deadly cancer
My condolences bro. And yep. It's THE "if you got it you're f*cked" cancer i think. Others at least give you a small fighting chance. Keep your head up!
Ceazar Carr
I’m sorry for your loss.

COOL 1985 Rally Porsche 911 Carrera - Jay Leno's Garage

I love the "empty can" sound that Porsche's make.
lol 13:00 that guy chasing a dog 😂
The dude says "Luftgekühlt". I am so impressed! Bangkok-Johnny, again.
Makes me sick when someone lets their wife tell them what car to own....
I didn't. Got some heat when I didn't even tell her about it. Just bought the car (Cayenne), parked it in front of the house and she didn't even notice when she came home. That is a dream! Next do it with a 1989 964 with the AWD and do this type of treatment !
Wow, that's nice, ruff and ready...
Jay....you need one of these!
thumbs up and a like just for a happy jay laugh :)
thanks jay! keep having fun!
17:09
good episode for Monday evening..hahaha thnx lots....
Leno driving with a straight face.
Owner: This is one of the cars you can't stop smiling when you're driving it.
Leno: (Puts a smile on his face) Yeah.
My '62 V-dub went off road like that too. :))
I love it, finally a rally car!
Jay was going a little too fast on that hill and you can tell the guy did not want to tell Jay to slow down. “That was a pretty serious hill there” hahahaha
You want to go a little slower I think up and down that hill. Great 911
I wish rally was more mainstream here in America. . it's just about the most incredible motorsport .. I love it, we have events here but it's still a relatively small footprint compared to other stuff.
Guy seems pretty knowledgeable . very workmanlike build .
This was about the last thing I expected, even in these times. Thrashing a 911 up a rutted dirt road. Mikey likey!
Off road Porsche, pretty cool.
I kinda wanna see Jay test or shows a Trabant or a Lada in his show, that would be interesting
Loco Rocco go 2 car crash vid in Russia.
Nice skid pan and plates Jay 🌟 #protection 😊
I'm sure the owner was thinking "I know you're Jay Leno and everything but go easy on my offroard Porsche" --- oh Welcome to Jackass!
Another very good vid! Thanks Jay! To the complainers; watch another channel!
13:00 just a guy chasing a what seems to be a baby tiger across the road, California love
Awesome car and passionate owner. Far more mature than most at that age. Great video.
I love this car!!!
I've never done much in the way of routine maintenance on that year Porsche 911, but...
Do the skid plates interfere with oil changes? Would the oil draining clear the plates? If worse comes to worse, naturally the plates are removable
I like this car! A sports car with an enhanced suspension and a tire aspect ratio tall enough to handle the crappy roads where I live... :)
It's Un-Believable!! U sooo Funny J, Cheer's
At 10:49 - bent license plate confirms: legit.
Fire Roads here I come.... I want one.
That is awesome!
a guy chases his... not so bright dog across 6 lanes in 13:00
