I ve seen it in many oldschool videos, they did something in the past that produced better quality sound, even in recordings from camers mics. I believe it was a combination of non scooped effects (eg more "organic" distortions that do not destroy the mids), non scooped and tighter amps than nowadays ridiculous multistage ones that amputate mid freqs and promote only bass and treble and, last but not least, probably more skillful people on the console itselves if the recoding is direct. All those instruments and technology of today have made things so sterile, the harmonics and overall instrument identity are missing.
The funny thing about 3:30 is that on the 'Heretic' drum check, Pete Sandoval does the exact same thing to their producer.. "Pete, let me hear your kick drum, please"
I've seen them in Italy 4 times ... no one will reach this perfection and power ... dave vincent has the best voice in the scene. pete ... jeje, pete sandoval. trey comes directly from hell ...
Morbid Angel are one of them bands that live on a different Vibration.. I'm soo glad they got sent here, too our vibration. Now we can also listen to the universe's schitzo, tormented mind.

Saw them live in 89 when Tony from Vital Remains paid them to play a show in Providence RI with them. Awesome fucking show! Saw newer Morbid a couple years ago and it wasn't the same. Satyricon and Suffication blew them off the stage. oh well. Great video! Maze of Torment was a favorite.
All things considered, you have to understand that it's very hard for any one band to be as big NOW as Morbid were THEN. (< my grammar's horrible, lol) It hardly matters that there are acts out there now that have more stage presence or that Morbid isn't the 'ONE' anymore. Morbid's generation MADE them.

It's kinda cool that fans are just coming onto the stage, and leaping off, and Morbid Angel is just like, "Whatever". XD I guess when you're as crazy of a band as them, security is unnecessary.
Trey has really, really improved since this video. He's a god now, but he wasn't that great back then... luckily he improved and became the death metal god he is today :D

I remember a deicide show-legion tour and a dude tried to get on stage and 1 of the hoffman.s kicked him right in the face nobody tried to get on stage after that
