    I just resurrected my Nikon F70 from 1995 and have this issue with the back of it. Hand sanitizer is something I haven't tried but, will now .. thank you. I've tested isopropyl alcohol (50% - maybe a higher alcohol content would work better) and nail polish remover (acetone free) on small spots and of the two the nail polish remover is much more effective that the alcohol. But, I'm going to try the hand sanitizer as well. Cheers!

    Did this exact thing with regular hand sanitizer, gloves , toothbrush & fabric on a very old canon 300D which had been sitting in a camera bag for over a decade, extremely sticky and hands would come away black . Didn't even need the toothbrush, was extremely useful to have gloves on & very easy to clean the camera , the sanitizer worked like a charm ! Thanks so much for this video .

    Mr C, It looks great. I'm glad you made this video. I have a D70s that had a sticky back. I used 99% Isopropyl alcohol to remove the stickiness. It took about 4 applications. I then restored the sheen by using Armor-All wipes. Ten years later, the camera still looks and feels like new.

    Bro - just use Isopropyl alcohol 70%. The kind you get from the drug store and any sort of delivery device. I've used cotton swabs to do this in plastic that's covered by other rubber. You don't need to scrub. The alcohol cleans it all away nice and simple.

    • @mr.cmr.c3855
      @mr.cmr.c3855  15 дней назад

      I've used sanitizer many times before and it leaves a white chalky film that's hard to remove. The sticky residue is like rubber cement and needs the sanitizer so it stays wet longer to dissolve it. Many camera backs & bodies are textured so brush works much better.

    Using hand sanitiser is handy tip excuse the pun. I used rubbing acholal on a Nikon F90x (N90x) and a Minolta Dynax 7 and it worked well but but your method would probably be less harsh on the finish. Thanks for sharing your tips.

    I hope you're doing fine, because your hand doesn't look good. Good tip, i've tried it with a old t-shirt, and 90% isopropyl alcohol, nothing helped. It was sticky as hell, extremely annoying, and my fingers have been sticky as hell, too. It is because the adheasive out of this plastic is vaporizing, which causes that chemical reaction and therefore sticky effect.

Had no old Shirt to use it for. Figured also out, different hand sanatizer does have different effect, the one from my coworker is less fluid, worked best, whileas the one i've bought into a drugstore, is fluid like water, doesn't have the same, great effect.
