    Great stuff Michael. I responded to the RUclips call for questions immediately but maybe you missed it. I do understand a lot about the neurological foundations of perfect pitch but it’s way too complicated to go into here. I’m a fluent Mandarin speaker and there are tonal intonations in Chinese which haven’t really helped me with music 😂 I’m hopeless at recognising notes but I can usually pick the key if there are vocals involved lol. Thanks for this it was really interesting and different.

      Yeah I saw your question after. I’m not sure why I couldn’t find it when I needed it!! Stupid RUclips!! :). 🙏
      It’s an interesting topic for sure.

    Yo! Enjoyed the interview, and just marvel at people who have perfect or relative pitch.
    I've spent this past week picking out the notes to an intro (Ren's "Troubles") and quite sure it would take a musician only a few moments to figure it out and play. The struggle is real for me, but gratifying when I finally figure out the right chords/notes. :)

      It’s great to exercise your ear!! Best of luck….I did a mini breakdown of the intro of Troubles if that helps you check your work or something.

      @@michaelgoyettemusic Thank you--that was more insightful, watching it again.
      Funny thing, is that your reaction to Troubles was what made me wake up the next day and try to figure it out. Problem was, I completely forgot about re-watching your vid, and went to Ren's page and looped that section while figuring it out.
      Sorry for getting long winded, but what you were saying about the "trademark" Ren chord structure of building from the 1st and 3rd octave/or 10th lit another light bulb in my mind of how to vision the notes/chords--something I just never connected before. Also, just love the vibrato he puts in there on the 10th (E on the 12th fret???) at the start... --Cheers, and thanks for your help.

      @@fret-less you mean different wood for different tones? I’m not super technical about how guitars work but I know ppl who are. 🤔

    • @fret-less
      @fret-less Месяц назад

      @@michaelgoyettemusic There's a big debate that surfaces every few years about whether the tone of a solid body electric guitar is affected by the wood its built from. I seems like PRS and Gibson would like us to believe that its fundamental. The other side says that tone comes from the pickups and the amp and the cabs. Paul Reed Smith caused a bit of controversy lately by saying some pretty wild things. It's an interesting one but there are very strong beliefs on both sides. ;)
