I wonder if anyone knows the "you set the tone" was passed down from Morganstern to Greene to Carter to Morris. Morganstern knew he passed it to Greene but its not like they all sit around and talk about a little saying.

Carter said it as a joke. Archie struggled as an intern and resident but gained confidence and eventually became an outstanding doctor. Carter looks proud of his former student.

One short scene with Carter and boom! The whole series got an instant upgrade.
Also with Gerry and the paramedic.

Like so many things in life, you don’t always realize how amazingly good something was until it’s gone.
You could really see Carter’s growth in this first scene with him back. His calm exposure are both from his experiences there and Benton’s influence on him.
Not just Benton. i'd argue a lot of the old cast had influence on him. Mark Greene as well to name one for example. Also his time in africa probably put a lot into perspective for him as well.

Lol! yeah, I guess just a little cheap hint to let us know the "doc who got that nurse pregnant and moved to Seattle" will be showing up in a next episode...

Dr. Ross and his antics in the hospital were probably legendary.
I'm sure if he said "No, I'm the one who got hoked on pills and went to rehab" they would have said, "Oh yeah. I heard of you."

It just goes to show you how much the staff of an ER changes in a few years. It took Carter a couple of minutes before he recognized someone and it was a paramedic who doesn't even technically work in the ER.
Which is when I stopped watching it. All of the originals were gone and the noobs sucked.
@@terryl.cooper You're missing the entire point of what I was trying to make. And there was plenty of great doctors after the first few seasons. It was still a much better show then any other medical drama.
@@terryl.cooperthat last season wasn't as bad. The stretch after Carter started toying with leaving and then did was absolutely brutal.
Doug and Carol story are one of the legendary stories of Country it seems. And Carter choose wrong day to comeback, valentine's Day.

I really liked Morris’s growth. He was the biggest idiot when he first came, but he grew into a good doctor

I liked him too. Not a jerk. He idolized Carter.
When he left and told Morris “You set the tone.” Archie’s reply was,”Huh?” He figured it out.
Gregg Pratt had become a great doctor too. That shock of losing him was heartbreaking.
John Carter, even though he was ‘in and out’ was our only constant. From “Day One” to “And In The End…”
And several of the nurses and EMT drivers.
There’ll never be another show like this.
I know and it made him so likeable and easy to root for.

It is a Jeep, but this one has glass windows, whereas his old one had plastic, zip-up windows.

Just goes to show you're not a true ER fan, his first Jeep in season 1 is blue, the second black one he has is lit on fire in season 5 after they search for a ER patient's father.

We all burst out laughing when Carter passed on that wisdom from Dr. Greene, but then Morris rose to the occasion and truly kept the mantra going!
He received the advice from Greene, who received it from the legend himself, Dr. David Morgenstern.

I didn't burst out laughing. My emotions were mixed: happy that Carter was continuing Green's legacy, but sad remembering Green's death.

I absolutely love the final stretch of Season 15. The nostalgia, the familiar faces and Peter Yorn’s “Crystal Village.” Ahh, yes!

I absolutely loved ER!! Carter’s progression for a novice to an experienced professional over the seasons had been wonderful.
Back in the day ER was definitely my best TV series of all time. Even today the cinematography in the trauma rooms is the greatest ever of all TV hospital dramas. Also the characters are strong and brilliant storylines. I loved it. 🙏🏾❤️🧑🏾⚕️👩🏼⚕️👨🏽⚕️👨🏻⚕️

That paramedic Zades... I remember in an earlier season that he said the he passed his MCats test and was gonna start med school, but they never mentioned it again
ER had a lot of plotlines that "died on the vine", going all the way back to S1 when they didn't know what to do with "Bob" (the foreign janitor who was a highly-skilled cardiovascular surgeon, who Carter was going to help with her residency test).
One thing that confused me is that how when applying they didn’t hear about carter and the stabbing
maybe they did hear about the stabbing but can't remember the name of him

Gates was a paramedic for 10 years before becoming a Doctor, so I never understood why he and Carter didn’t know each other as it seemed Gates had lived in Chicago a long time.

That episode was very moving to me titled 21 Guns. Neela silently grieves for Gallant at the funeral but jumps right back into work as hospital has a shootout
I've been asking for that one too.
21 Guns is one of the best episodes of the series, and it and its companion episode Bloodline were easily the best episodes during the Season 12-14 stretch
It could be the clip with the shootout in the waiting room. Its a recent video I think.
I think love Carter but the show was never the same after mark left and my interest really waned after season 9. The only reason I kept watching was for Alex Kingston

I've always wondered: Why does Carter look so sad/serious when he's looking at the hospital?
(I know it's Valentine's Day so the stabbing etc may have been on his mind, but it's the place he use to love and had such a close connection with... you'd think the nostalgia would make him happy or at least smile.)
He’s sick, and I guess without this first shot of him looking terribly sad, you could think all’s perfect for him. We’re probably supposed to spend the episode wondering what’s wrong with him (if you hadn’t read spoilers) until the last scene where it’s finally revealed. Just my two cents...
So much of his soul has been sucked out between the hospital, Kem and his illness it's no wonder at all. In reality he probably would not have gone back to that place.

Trivial comment alert: anyone who's been around these ER video threads probably knows I adore JC to the moon and back, but I can't believe that after 15 years, through various relationships and at least three continents, he still listens to bland iHeart radio rock. Branch out, sweetheart. It was excusable in 1995. (This is literally my only complaint)

Old habits die hard
Mark, John, Susan, Doug, Peter, Carol, these were the main characters of ER.. When the main cast started to crumble away, they should have ended the entire show in my opinion, it then lost all of it's beauty and power. I'm currently rewatching on Prime, but once I'll get to that point, I think I'm gonna end it. I can't tell you guys who big of a part of my life this show was when I was 18-20 years old, really and truly this is the best show ever made in the entire history Television.
Best years. I remember being in college and going to class on Friday. One class Friends would be the topic and ER another. Plus no social media to ruin it.

Carter returned on Valentine’s Day the same holiday that he was stabbed and Lucy died.
Carter was the best part of the show.
Is it just me that kind of didn't like John Stamos on ER? Like I didn't watch until like 4 years ago but I never really liked him.

ER was a good show, but I liked the series he did after this a lot more. Anyone who wants to see a great alien invasion series that is a lot more realistic than usual will love watching Falling Skies. Noah Wyle stars and is executive producer. Unfortunately instead of playing a doctor he played a history teacher who becomes a soldier. It ran for 5 seasons and was allowed to end when the story was over, so there was none of that ending on a cliffhanger bullshit. Although I must admit the ending was pretty weak and low-effort compared to the rest of the show.
I respectfully disagree. the first two seasons where solid. It all becomes really weird and goes down hill from there. S4 and S5 where horrible. Also the show was never even remotely realistic. All women have fabulous shampo commercial hair. Mom and I joked about that a lot while watching the show. I would not recommend this show to people as a whole. S1 and S2 are still worth it though. S1 especialy. Though in the end people should just research what the show is about and decide for themselves if it's their thing. Me personaly couldnt stand how the protagonist and his sons all became some kind of gary stu type characters while the women where terrible and the other male characters irrelevant except for 2 of them (Pope, who gets ruined in s5, and a guy who's name I forgot but starts as a hard ass but then joins then protag fam ass kissing fan club). ER is MUCH better. Also the librarians which has him in it from time to time (and main in the movies) is much more fun.
@@amberanime When I say realistic I mean compared to the usual alien invasion stuff. At least here they were constantly dealing with finding enough food, finding new places to live; they started covering the hoods of the vehicles to help hide their infrared signature, etc. They even spent time on the trauma the children developed from living like that. Again, far from perfect, but above average. As for the women, well what can I say. They definitely cast some gorgeous ones. The doctor, her med student, and the half alien were all just stunning. The g/f turned alien and Mira Sorvino looked pretty good too. The few people who have actually watched it after I told them I thought it was good liked it too.
It's too bad you didn't like it as much as I did, but hopefully you liked it enough that you don't wish you could get the time back spent watching it. ;-)
