    :D People's behavior is a funny thing.
    If Tommy sings like Roy : " Oh my God, he's copyng Khan"
    If he does't sing like Roy: "This jerk can't handle Khan's parts Uuuuuuu!"
    Mr Karevik is great vocalist - you should check Seventh Wonder and then you'll understand what he can make behind the mic.
    I really hope he will return here with SW for concert :)

      Unfortunately not everyone will accept changes in lineups. I've seen kamelot with both roy and Tommy. Both are amazing singers. And I actually really appreciate that Tommy keeps the roy songs identical to how roy would have sung it but also adds his own spin to it. Because its like paying tribute but also showing that he's capable it making it sound great no matter what.
      Same situation when he did the song Bruce Dickson did in ayreon "into the black hole" Tommy sung the hell out of that song during the ayreon universe live show.

    I don't get why ppl keep posting about Tommy copying Roy. He's in the band because he CAN sing what Roy sang. He can handle Roy's range without butchering the songs. Thus the fact that he was the one hired!!! I think he's awesome!

    What a brilliant video, good quality too. Thanks to whoever posted this. It really warms my heart the way Tommy is embracing and making a big thing of Fabio onstage. Just shows what a nice guy he is. I cannot believe Tommy has joined Kamelot. I have been a fan of Seventh Wonder since the Mercy Falls album was released and it captivated me. Just as Kamelot always has! This was the step forward the band needed. Roy will always be an astonishing singer and never forgotten. This is the new era!

    Thanks for the nice words, dear MiMimkimura! I find this performance also really great and unique, because we could enjoy Tommy and Fabio on the same stage singing so emblematic song as "Karma". Hopefully this will happen again - it's fantastic!

    Tommy is good but nothing will ever be as good as Roy he was born with these songs.I guess Tommy can now many his own Kamelot songs now.Roy put alot of passion into his singing and it's what made him best.

    Right on! I didn't care for Fabio Lione with the group, he's not a bad singer but he doesn't seem to fit with Kamelot. Tommy can pull of Roy's material which is pretty impressive. I still prefer Roy on his material and partially because I'm used to how he does his vibratos and these vocal lines are so memorable, but the fact that he pulls it off acceptably says a lot. He sounded great on Silverthorn too
    He's also a good stage performer.

    Loved Kamelot in Portland last year when they played with Nightwish. Kamelot was as good if not better, they deserve WAY more fame than they have. They're equal to NW in my heart~ if not better. I was SO happy with Karevik then.

    I admit I wondered what would become of kamelot with a new singer, but I am not disappointed in the least. Tommy is a fantastic vocalist. I only wish the audio on this video was clearer; I can't imagine how amazing this experience must have been for you. Thanks for sharing it though. I have something similar on my channel when Jimmy Buffett made an unexpected appearance at Lulu's in Gulf Shores once :3

    I agree ... I think also that he slowly tries to make his own adaptions. No one is wishing for a Tarja/Anette thing, so I think it is very wise to come in slowly.
    And I think he is a perfect fitting replacement

    On stage I could see that Khan lived and breathed Kamelot. It was who he was and it came out in his delivery and stage presence. Karevik is a good singer but he's no Khan. He just doesn't look like he's singing for the right band. Khan almost made the music come alive. I don't get this from Karevik. There's more a front man than how he sounds on stage.

  • @xenocide983
    @xenocide983 12 лет назад +1

    Yeah my thoughts exactly, except that that "mimicing" even more prooves what an awesome singer he is. I had a chance to hear some parts of Kamelot's new upcoming album and you'll see how he sounds very, VERY, similar to Rhoy, especialy in lower vocal ranges, but then again I've been a fan of 7th Wonder for a long time, and when you listen him singing there it's literaly like listening to 2 different persons. I'll just say fans of Rhoy's voice will be pleased with new Kamelot's album :)

  • @lucymalak90
    @lucymalak90 10 лет назад +10

    DAMN!!! He's such a bad ass singer!
    My problem with Kamelot has nothing to do with his singing skills(Tommy's), my real problem is that he looks like a great singer doing his job amazingly, and Khan(well, the name says everthing) he really sounds and looks like a king fallen from grace.
    He really portrayed the feelings of a defeated king(in this song of course). But well, is something that I have to get over. Best wishes to Tommy, hopefully in a couple of years he'll be a fuckin' great performer, maybe he just needs time :D
    (I hope you catch the idea, english is not my mother tongue)

      The problem I have with Tommy is...he is acting and posing too much. Playing instead of being.
      Roy wasn't acting, he was.

  • @DatBoyHex
    @DatBoyHex 11 лет назад

    That's what Kamelot wanted. They wanted someone with a unique voice and their own style but the ability to fall back to how Khan was like to keep it the style very much alike. As well for him to be able to see the old songs without making it too different for when they must go live.

  • @RammmFan

    much condolences to oldschool fans of Kamelot... we nightwish old fans understand your pain of losing legendary Khan... many of us, even after 14 years which passed since we lost our legendary Tarja from Nightwish... pain isn't going away, even if we pretend that we are over it...

  • @LogicalParadox16
    @LogicalParadox16  12 лет назад

    You have right, I've noticed the same (may be like almost all the other Kamfans), but I don't think this is a bad thing, because in my opinion this is just a try to maintain Kamelot's conception and it doesn't look too artificial. Tommy has his own style of singing, his voice is unique, so he will bring something different to Kamelot. On the other hand let's give him more time to adapt. Soon we will have better overview thanks to their first common album.

  • @Hauntingful
    @Hauntingful 12 лет назад +3

    I love how Tommy tries to engage the crowd, it's a breath of fresh air compared to Roy. Although I loved Roy's dramatic and emotional performances, he didn't really interact with either fans or band members.

  • @Yvonne_2473
    @Yvonne_2473 12 лет назад

    Maybe estrelaroha is one of those who wanted the sound of Kamelot to change completely now. I know people who wanted to have a female singer or a male singer with a much harsher voice to mix it up. I'm glad they picked someone with a similar style. With Tommy the old songs stay the same - why change something that is so good?

  • @TheArtickus
    @TheArtickus 12 лет назад

    it will be for some time at the start it has to be so. So he get's in the style of band and then doing on his own. The most thing I like in him is he sings different technique and a nice placed voice and timbre he sound like but not so gentle as Khan the power parts sound heavier) Best trully best choice. And I respect Khan for what he done. The bes time to go, to leave a legacy to be unbeaten.

  • @bebop900
    @bebop900 12 лет назад

    Tommy is an amazing singer no doubt, and I doubt you could find a more worthy replacement for Khan. But he just doesn't have the kind of gravitas that Khan had, so it's strange hearing him sing a song made for Khan's voice. I can't wait to hear how their new music fits with Tommy's voice though!

    i do like Tommy very much, he's a really worthy replacement for Khan, but i get the idea he tries to mimic Khan. The same attitude, the same movements, same expressions...
    i appreciate it that maybe he tries to make the change a bit more transparent this way or something.. but i prefer it if he stays himself.
    Then again, i never saw this Tommy guy perform anywhere else so maybe his own attitude just looks a lot like Khans?

    Funny, because I know at least dozen of singers with similar stage presence as Khan. Khan is/was not unique. Why would I need to be related to him just because I defend him from idiotic comments like this? Would you rather have him just stand there doing nothing? Yes, how WONDERFUL. Learn proper grammar and to not blindly insult someone, then your opinions might be taken seriously.

    Fabio Lione is a way better singer and performer than Tommy Karevik. In the moment when he hit the stage nobody didn't notice that Karevik was still there. But even Lione could not replace Khan. I am sure they had better options than Karevik though. Must have been a personal thing or a business decision (young guy, looks good, blah).

  • @Frankcorel
    @Frankcorel 12 лет назад

    I disagree with you. Tommy tries to emulate Khan in every ways. The interpretation, the timbre of the voice. If his voice is "unique", I do not I have heard yet. Not in Kamelot.Tommy is a man not a child. Children try to imitate others, men must have a personality of its own. What Tommy is doing is not keeping the style of Kamelot, but the style of Khan. Kamelot then became the Khan. Khan morphed the band to his own face. There was a time when metal fans repudiated false attitudes....

    There is many better singers that can also play on stage and do very well on kamelot, i can name you 2: pellek, and the singer of innossense (greek melodic metal band).
    However Im not all that against karevik, he is not a bad singer and doesnt have bad presence on stage, however I would have chosen one of the above for instance instead of him.

    ...Posers attitudes. It is disappointing as the minds of current generations have changed. Thomas Youngblood did not have the courage that Michael Weikath had. Thomas just chose a doll, and shaped the image of Khan in it.Khan in the beginning, when he joined Kamelot showed their own personality, its own style, which he developed during his lifetime. Khan did not need to imitate the guy before. Changed the face of Kamelot, and the band became known through the world.
