Only because I REALLY miss Khan and I admit I am on a rebellion to have him back but new guy is definitely winning me over slowly.. I'll forever love Roy but I can't deny this bands music. And Alissa shocked me.. This is so amazing considering the symbolism of this song.
I had seen Kamelot October 6 in San Diego when they were opening up for Nightwish, and although I did not want to find out who the new singer was or anything about him (to be surprised), I was definitely not disappointed with him. Karevik had done an amazing job and, in my opinion, was the right choice in replacing Khan. I love The Agonist and seeing Alissa there was great as well.
Yeah, Khan just burnt out; he had the voice that suited his name to begin with. Ironically, both the name Roy and Khan mean 'King' in some description (so 'King King', or, if you wanted to be really obnoxious or compare him to Gilgamesh, 'King of Kings'), the man knew when it was time to pass the throne of Kamelots front man to a suitable heir. A very suitable heir, it must be said. Pretty much every Kamelot front man has a voice you'd punch a puppy for, though xD

I saw them a week after this concert, opening for Nightwish in Chicago... and they totally stole the show. Granted, Anette was 2 weeks from quitting, and Nightwish was way off their groove. But whatever way you take it, Kamelot puts on a great show!
Kamelot always sounded awesome live! Especially with Khan...and I think that he has better voice than Karevik... Kamelot will not be the same anymore...Thats in my opinion..

I've heard Lullabies for Dormant Minds and she doesn't do any black metal vocals at all. Hell she doesn't even do death metal vocals. She uses those same weak, thin vocals that a truly unfortunate majority of metalcore and deathcore vocalists use. It lacks the power and aggression needed to match the music as a whole and just doesn't work at all. And when she's filling the part of a black metal musician in this song you can definitely compare them.

The new vocalist does a good job. I mean sure I preferred Khan but this guy has done well to fill the very large gap that Khan left behind. But Alissa sucks for this song. Her screaming is weak and thin and absolutely lacking the intensity needed. She's eye candy on stage and nothing more. Shagrath kicks her ass vocally in every respect. You don't get the singer for a kids metalcore band to fill the vocal parts of a black metal vocalist because it will never work.
its just the same case as ACDC, two similar singers to keep the most important thing, the particular sound of the band ...if you dont like it you can always listen Popwish
Yeah, I've stopped following them, but will always love the stuff from Roy's time. Bon and Brian are two similar voices, but two very different people. This guy is just mimicking Roy Khan's persona and it makes me like him even less.
Alissa stage presence is top level,she just owns that stage.Karevik did a good job as back up vocalist.
