Will always be a huge babolat fan even though I’ve recently switched to Wilson, their rackets are the best for beginners and intermediate players and are always extremely reliable and durable. Have owned an Aeropro drive for 12 years, still plays like a dream.
the pure aero or aero pro drive is a legendary racquet because it literally changed the game. Although I use a Yonex Vcore, the vcore was also presumably influenced by pure aero's aerodynamic frame, as are many other racquets that are “spin oriented”
Once again, phenomenal job on this episode TW! Chris taking a backseat and immersing himself into Babolat's essence did it again. Super insightful entry. Learned a few things I didn't know about the company.
Izzy I played with a 2018 Pure Drive with lead tape and a full bed of stiff poly for about two years and have never had any arm issues 🥳 then again, I’m young
I'm 22 and I've played with 2 Pure Drive 2015 since 2015 and I used to play competitive tennis for my University here in Colombia and until today I've never had elbow issues. I used to play with Poly and 57 lbs string tension but I switched to RPM Blast 54 lbs string tension.
what a great doc everything was amazing, but Christ with Bjoern Borg wowz; also for me the player that made me a babolat guy was Andy Roddick which sadly wasn't mentioned;
Chris, Is that a Estusa Pro Vantec Power Beam carbon graphite racquet pictured with you? Chris, What is the head size of that Estusa Vantec PB? You mentioned Borg's high tension for his vs gut. What tension did he string his racquet?
It is the Power Beam Pro, the heaviest of the Power Beams and has a very low RA (stiffness). I cannot remember the exact tension Borg used, but it was high (kevlar/natural gut hybrid) and the frames were breaking all of the time due to the stress -- I would not recommend trying it since these are hard to find racquets these days! Cheers, Chris, TW
I guess babolat forgot who put them on the map with their racquets. I seem to remeber that Andy Roddick made babolat racquets popular that's why he was the only person to get a signature racquet, but once he retired they couldn't take his name off the racquet any quicker.
It would make them look bad lol. They also skipped over how Roddick popularized the pure drive in America. This is purely a promotional piece for babolat.
@@adriantroickic8477 You mean he would beat 99% of the players with a wood racket. Nadal's technique only works for babolat frying pans. Let's se if he could do it using sampras pro staff 85...
At the time of the introduction of the Pure Drive, there were already "power" racquets and "control" racquets. Yet, the Pure Drive managed to capture the public's attention as tweener sized user friendly power racquet with a large sweet spot which related to C. Moya and Raffa Nadal. Ball impact and foot work are keys to the game one key babolot high ranking guy relates to us. And, interestingly enough another high end Babolot manager says, strings are 50% of the performance of a racquet. So, essentially, the Babolot racquet is a minority factor in performance if you keenly discern what these Babolot folks are telling the public. 🧐😯🤦👍 👌 💔❤️🩹🤜🤛💯 Very enlightening content for many people!
@@PPoyares One can argue, Nadal is the epitome of racquet technology and string technology rolled into one. Yes, it is highly doubtful that Nadal could achieve the same results with a 85 or 90 sq inch stick. The much smaller head size and comparative tiny sweet spot and much more closed string pattern would be a nightmare for Nadal. It would be interesting if there were leagues based one head size and string patterns. That would be incredibly interesting 🤔. There would be racquet head size and string pattern specialists. Crazy thought huh!
What a shame they didn't mention andy roddick in the story. Andy was one of the first if not the first one to have his name on the babolat rackets. Pure drive roddick. He was the frontrunner of pure drive for so many years.
And, I really want to how many cats it takes to make one VS gut string.🤷♂️ Especially since it takes 2 cows to make one racquet string. Wow! Chris, did not even attempt to entertain the number of cats to make a vs gut string. That facial expression 😍 😆 👌 is priceless and it felt like the animal rights people were in the room. So, he was just mum😮.
If there was a cow shortage and Babolot invented gut made from a variety of dead animals. Wouldn't that be the first real multifiber gut??? Just saying 😌
What about the Pure Drive Roddick??? Yonex: Made in Japan by passionate adults, that love tennis. Babolat: Made in China by children, that never heard of tennis. End of story.
Amazing camera shots used. Professionally done. Chris' reaction to the cat gut joke haha.
Also a big credit for Rafael Nadal for giving contribution to Babolat's success
Whoever made this video, bravo. It was very nicely produced and directed.
Seriously good production quality.

i switched to yonex but i did learn on a babolat.

every company has copied the Pure Drive..look at the specs
Kudos to your and your production team, enjoying these brandography series, you can tell alot of effort and fun went into it!

Just bought a pure drive for the first time 2 weeks ago, and I love the racket!
Cool. Let us know how your elbow feels after a few months

Great production, and very informative. Thanks Chris.
Can't believe they didn't even mention Roddick winning the US Open with the Pure Drive. Give credit where credit is due.
Seriously, I got a Pure Drive because Andy had one 👌🏼
Seriously, guy with the biggest serve ever doesn't make their list of influential players? Pretty sure he was also the reason I got a Pure Drive.
What blasphemy!
What a mistake to forget Roddick for the Pure Drive popularity. Wow!
what about Li Na and KIm?
And Roddick was wearing Babolat shoes too
Thanks a lot Tennis Warehouse team; that was an eye opening Brandography.
Eric Babolat CEO : "50% of the performance of a racquet is the string and 50% is the frame". Sadly, 99% of players don't know that.
I'm a Club level player and I deeply felt that.
Everybody think that the racquet is the 100%

I love this brandography of babolat! Could you please make the same kind of production about the brand head?
Congratulations to your success babolat, you deserve it
oh wow..so Cinematic... is this the tennis version of 'Watchtower of Turkey' film??? love the transitions! wow...
Great episode! Looking forward to the next one!
Great video! Had no idea how to pronounce their name, but now I know everything about them!
Great video. Congrats TW Team.
Great piece. Chris May have found a second calling.
What is the blue racket he was using - babolat soft drive not pure drive
Moya used a Soft Drive paintjobbed to look like a Pure Drive.
Cinematography is amazing very well done... also, that Chris guy - what a dreamboatI could watch him talk about cow gut all day errrday!
@Kana Sherry Ribultan,
ERRRRDAY!
lol...he is giving me silver DADDY vibes
So, Pete Sampras was using Babolat string which was why he has the two stripes instead of a 'w'.. Is it..?
Zul Hairi Samsudin you are correct. But he had two stripes and the W logo above the stripes.

Love the cat extermination joke!! LOL...Oh My
Well produced.
Damn they made a model specially for Rafa
So awesome
What freebies did you get Chris?? Hahahaaa!!!
Funny how the role of Pro Kennex hardly ever enters the story of the Babolat Pure Drive!!! 😆😆😆

I still use a couple of PK Destiny's

I came here to mention this. Seems significant doesn't it?

What was the pro Kennex role? Did they make the pure drive for Babolot in the beginning?
1994 I was born at that year of 29th December, so who's anyone born at that year same as me? and born the pure drive 1st gen racket.
Nadal only plays amazingly because he uses a Babolat frame. I guess that's what Babolat was trying to say here.
