The keyboard JC is using is a one-of-one keyboard called a choralizer which will choralize JC’s voice (from mic input) to as many keys as he can hold down while matching his tone/tambre. Jacob collaborated with MIT Media dept. to bring this keyboard into existence.
By the way, JC said in an interview this song is actually in 14/4, not in 7/4 as you commented…. the arrangement of this song from JC’s first album was done by Jacob and Michael League.
i only hope i can one day be one of the privileged individuals who get to see these songs recorded…. that’s a bucket list worthy experience.

Wow, that's amazing. I definitely need to catch him live sometime so I can see it in action. And it would be a cool experience to be in the studio audience. You never know, you might get that opportunity!

If you could use a time machine and buy a ticket to sit in on that recording session. . . What would you pay?

interesting that this gives you lots of ideas. I think a good fictional book sets up a world which you can have your own mini adventures in as you read (or pause reading to let your imagination journey around in the characters and the world), and I guess good music does similar for musicians. Have never thought of it that way before though.

Ya, there's always something that you can pull from in music. Just as some stories in literature may remind you of others, music does the same. And with Jazz music creativity and improvisation is heavily invited!
