Might be a stretch, but I think the “watch it” in the background of Pharrell’s ‘Double Life’ is a shout out to Yasiin Bey’s (Mos Def) ‘Speed Law’. The way Drake attacked him for his honest response to a question in an interview, the “shopping” comment, was over the top and incredibly disrespectful. Mos Def has always been very conscious in his music, of course he’s going to be turned off by music that’s just meant to be heard and not really listened to bc it lacks a message. Trying to get to a man by going after the women he cares about is foul- and that is Drake’s MO, he’s got the emotional maturity of a 12 year old boy.
