This was probably their peak as a band. They had a new record which they new was special, but still hadn't been released, they were in the same bill as Sonic Youth (heroes of them), and they were playing at their tightest, still caring, still not having "made it", still playing as if their lifes depended on it.
Did they really think it was something special? From what I heard, the record label thought it was gunna be a flop (maybe that was exaggerated but you know what I mean), and the band members said in some interview that Nevermind sounded kind of one dimensional and their next album (which would turn out to be In Utero) would be more diverse. I personally think Nevermind is the best rock album I've ever heard but yeah, lol.
Just watched movie about him "montage of heck". Damn good. I am proud that I love his songs from childhood. Kurt is an idol, a legend, but such a simple guy... That's why we respect him. Ps fuck Axl Pps Courtney didn't kill him, drugs did, she just didn't lead him to drop that shit. Rip my friend Kurt Cobain forever. Nirvana, bitches
This was almost 6-weeks before Nevermind hit the record stores...and you can tell Kurt loves playing SLTS still because he really gets into it. He knows its a great song.
Kate x oh and also his girlfriend wrote that he smells like a deodorant called teen spirit and kurt being kurt he thought it was some cool rebellious phrase and hen poof in 1992 he clocked that it was a deodorant and felt ashamed and embarrassed to play it. And teen spirit made nirvana a mainstream band but they wanted to stay underground and everyone started hating nirvana because they thought that nirvana were a bunch of sellouts. Oh and smells like teen spirit attracted jocks and bullies and kurt hates the types of people who liked it
They really changed the worlds music scene. Teen spirit is one of the best songs i have ever heard with my ears. I was listening to it 5 yrs ago and i still do now with the same inspiration. Its the best damn song ever!
@BeatlesMusicRocks I lived in Reading 89-90. Went to the festival all three days. Moved away so never went 91. For 92, 93 and 94 i went each time on the Sunday with a day ticket BUT 92 when they headlined we left early cos it was freezing and mud up to your ankles...so i never did see a Nirvana Reading performance. But i did see Nirvana in London at the Astoria in 90 where i stood right at the front leaning against the stage with Kurt directly in front of me...you could not get closer LOL
Working at the Nissan dealership, trying to sell a car...probably got off work and went to a bar, got some blow, got hammered all night...but I had the cassette single in my car! Eventually, when I went back to college, I got to see them LIVE; at William & Mary Hall (The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA) on 11/07/93. I was 22 years old.
That's what a lot of people thought, but Kurt said in an interview that he named her after the singer of a band he liked. I believe it was the Vasolines. ("Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam")
It's probably because Nevermind hadn't been released and no one knew the songs from it. It was early afternoon and the crowd was pretty lethargic to start as they were pretty unknown. I know, I was one of them. Everyone was blown away (their t shirts from the stand at the side had all sold out before they even ended their set!)I feel blessed I was there, Nevermind came out on my birthday I caught most of their UK tour in September and October. Great daze, good memories.
@Jojos25 Nirvana,mudhoney, lunachicks, babes in toyland, buffalo tom, sonic youth, pavement etc. MY favourite from that festival was shonen knife singing the cycling song!
Daves Sentences were so incomplete, but if he said that to me Id be like "Know exactly mean what I the you think jumping junipers jupiter whoo whoo godda bodda beee la boo boo ray yippy dong doy doy dong diggity!"
@jaydrums101 well every ten years some new amazing band comes along. the strokes came out in 2001. I hope u didnt miss that. never too late. grab the first two albums, their genius. beirut is a great band too

OMG SO A.W.E.S.O.M NIRVANA NOW , TOMORROW AND FOR EVERYTIME !

nirvana, you're my vitamins.
It's a guitar sound effect usually triggered with a pedal. Makes it sound more metallic and crisp.

Just before the release of Nevermind. Really nice performance.
@MarkMadness81 thanx :)
There's a flanger used on the studio version of Drain You, I don't know if you can really hear it in this clip.
thats the best video on youtube
haha what was dave trying to say :D
wow! that was 17 years ago....
They Are Both On Nevermind
@feeblechrist126 yeah i was talking about mainstream i don't pay attention to underground much since it doesn't really matter
rust never sleeps
Have you ever seen a performance of this where you can see the floor? You can clearly see two pedals, a distortion pedal, and a flanger.
@mmtna yeah thats right Nirvana 4 ever
Genial
Damn you were lucky to be that close
Kurt only has one child. A daughter named Francis Bean Cobain. And, no, she doesn't make music, she's a teen model (she's currently 15).
Wow.
@Nirvaaanaa
Best comments that i've read in all my life on Nirvana.... ; )
