A no brainer. Keep our picks, take Penix at 11 and the best player for needs at 23.
I like Penix but he doesn't have the ceiling Maye does. Who cares about another defensive dude when you have a generational qb.
I'm with ya man. A stud DI/Edge body is equally a priority. Penix could be as good as we've ever had at QB, and we need bodies everywhere. This team isn't really close with holes to fill. Fill those holes, and let's try and win during the Penix rookie contract. Maye may have a greater ceiling, but how long will it take to develop, and will he have a supporting roster behind him by the time he's ready. No matter, it's going to be fun to watch. We KNOW KAM & KOC are set this evening to be in a career-defining moment. Buckle up, and strap in !!
Settling for Penix at 11 is a much better option than trading up a lot of assets for McCarthy at 5.

Not sure how Mackey and Doogie don't understand what Judd is saying.
He's saying don't try calling the bluff between picks 6 and 11 and the other two are saying oh, but they can't outbid us.... That's not the point! If you're calling the bluff, you aren't putting in an offer and you're leaving the door wide open for the Broncos and Raiders to make a deal.
Lmao they get what he's saying, Judd is the one who isn't listening. Mackey laid out that the vikings will be in the know of who is trying to jump ahead because the recipient will let the vikings know because of their draft capital. None of those teams behind us have our draft capital to outbid us for a spot.

@@biglicker4473 And the "bluff" is not believing that they really do need to up their offer when they're told another team is on the phone. The Titans for example have no reason to really be honest about how much the Broncos or Raiders are putting on the table. They're going to want to push the Vikings to up their offer, even if it's better than the offer the other teams are making.

@yungcringegamer One critical play in the MNF win over the Niners was forcing McCaffery to fumble and then recovering it and another was when Addison ripped the ball away from Mooney Ward and turned another Cousins INT into a TD.
Those were both very unlikely and the Vikings needed both.

I think you have to think about who Diana’s source is and why this report about KAM would come out this week. She was obviously getting info from the Cousins camp during his free agency quest, painting the Vikings as “losing” Kirk because their offer wasn’t good enough. I call total BS on her latest report as just a way for another team to put pressure on KAM to up his trade offer during the draft week. I think Judd is waaay to quick to call out dissension within the Viking front office and hasn’t logically thought this through … I believe KAM, KOC, and the Wilf’s are all on the same page with how this off season has played out and how they will proceed during the draft. Don’t buy ANY “insider” information in the final week as it’s all just some team’s propaganda.

I think the organization has done a pretty good job of playing poker given the vulnerable spot we're in. Everybody knows we need a QB but we've clouded the issue enough to at least leave most guessing how we'll make it happen.
I’d like to believe the Vikings aren’t dumb enough to move up for McCarthy but these are the same guys who drafted Cine, Booth, Ingram et al.

Free agency changes as teams always drop starters after getting replacements in the draft maybe the Vikings can get a starting level guard then.
This is why when its clear an apparent you dont have a super bowl team and your quarterback goes down with an ACL. You dont trade for a veteran quarter back.

The Giants aren't going to move up for Maye. He is already on their roster but he goes by the name Daniel Jones
Wow wrong dude. Maye coming into the league is Jones immediately but then after a year he's Josh Allen who I think anyone would take.
Vikings may already have there QB on the team , the possibly improved play of Darnold and or hall? They still have other needs also nose tackle and shutdown corner and a bad ass interior guard or center would also be really nice!

Say whatever you want about tanking but watching Dobbs for those two games was really fun, I wouldn’t trade that away. Kevin got the chance to show what he could do as a coach. I’d rather risk high draft picks and watch my team compete than “tank” (which is practically impossible btw)

I bet Washington has soured on Daniels, so they might be fine letting the Vikings give them Maye for the King's ransom. Otherwise he goes to the Pats, period. Pats have no interest in trading back unless Maye is off the board. And BTW--JJ is not plan B. KOC has been keyed on Maye for months if not years.

The Vikings should convince the Falcons to swap picks and call off the NFL over tampering, next year they probably lose their 1st or second round pick moving down three spots and still getting one of the first defensive players in the draft is a win vs losing their first next year which sounds likely.

KOC has a detailed QB ranking for Vikings best fit draft targets tonight - I assure you. His QB rankings are not the same QB rankings as what reporters throw together and sell as news & analysis LOL. The NFL draft is also poker. I'm Glad Judd is not in charge of bidding or negotiating tonight. Forcing Vikings to stick to the nonsense reporter rankings of Vikings QB fits is panic & nonsense. KOC is Head coach & Offensive Coordinator. KOC & his scouts will weigh the value of QBs & top 20 non QB players and pick them in the 1st round tonight. So if some people scream JJ was QB3 and we picked Pennix a QB5 instead? It just means the Head Coach & GM are shrewdly making their own decisions on these picks. CYA & Panic decision making is how you get fired. Trust the process. Know that this is at least a 2 year rebuild process.
Penix is the most fun to watch.

NE certainly think the Vikings hope is to get Maye. In the last week everyone keeps reporting how much NE like Maye at 3. Looks like an obvious way to use the media to tell Vikings that if they want Maye they have to pay through the nose or they will take him themselves. Here’s hoping Kwesi doesn’t get fleeced by a team and gives away the farm to move up. NE has a crap team and they need picks. Give them a fair deal (this years two firsts) or tell them to pound sand.
I say MAKE those teams between 3 and 6, take a quarterback. They'll either over pay or the quarterbacks will slide down. If after the 6th round ends and Maye and McCarthy are taken, move up to 7 with Tennessee for some later picks, and take Penix.
What happened to trading with AZ and getting either Maye or McCarthy for sure?

Omg these last 6 months man... its finally all going to be over. No more arguing about kirk. No more "divided fan base". No more speculating about who we're gonna draft or who we should draft... we're gonna finally make a move. Even if it fails, I'll still be happy that our front office tried to go for it. I'm so tired of having "good to really good" at qb. I'm excited at the opportunity to try and get someone great, who could potentially be top 5 in the NFL or an Mvp candidate.
I would like to take a top 4 QB option at #11,but,... Giants, Denver and Oakland are the reasons why you can expect a QB to be there. I think there's a few trades into the top 15.

If NE hangs up on Kwesi then AZ should be called. Then SD if AZ doesn't want to work with us. They have to get on of the Top 4 because they moved up to 23 for this purpose!
I feel like Judd would prefer to trade 1st round picks for a player than to get that same player at 11. Process, I tell you!!
Judd assumes that the Pats will actually accept a "sane" offer, which is 3 first round picks. This is A LOT to give up. They may say give us a 4th 1st rounder, because they really want to draft Maye, and at that point you walk away from the deal. Maye isn't an Elway, Luck, or even Caleb Williams type prospect. He's got issues, and while I like him with KOC he's not without some pretty serious flaws. It's a very high stakes poker game, and the Vikings have to weigh the possibility of "inaction" vs. getting worked over on a deal.
The notion that if the Vikings don't trade up to get a bench warmer QB and lose their draft future for the next two years is so absurd that you guys can't be taken seriously on any sport's opinions.
Is Kwesi able to get the pieces for KOC... Because if he does, there is a good chance these two will be with the team until i die.... Hopefully some Lombardi trophies will be sprinkled in there.

Trade up or not, you pick the wrong QB and your ass is fired anyway. There will be an effort made to get the QB they think is the best choice.

Denver loves McCarthy no way he falls all the way to 11, Tennessee might not want to trade but the Falcons would probably be okay with trading because they could still get one of the top defensive players.
All the news is that the Patriots are staying put and picking Maye. The Giants are rumored to not like McCarthy. He could slide all the way to 11. The cajones are having the courage to not trade up and let us get McCarthy real cheap.
The cost to get to three at minimum is 11,23 and 2025 1st. The niners already set that price in the Trey Lance trade. It's going to take more than that.

What if KOC, the man who thinks EVERYTHING begins with ACCURACY when it comes to QB, doesn't like Maye or JJ? What if he likes Penix? Too many people are ASSUMING that KOC likes these guys. Maybe be thought earlier in the process that he MIGHT have a chance at Caleb or Daniels. Now that there's NO chance at either, should he just move up for guys he doesn't think are worth it? This might be strictly a KOC decision.

Unless you're going for Williams, Daniels or Maye, the Vikings need to stand pat. McCarthy will fall to them at eleven, so unless they're committed to drafting one of the top three QBs, standing pat is the way to go.
If Kwesi is determined to keep pick 23 despite KOCs input...he may be gone.

I said it before--the Vikings will get shut out of the top 4 QB's and will be picking in the spots they have and wind up with Penix or Nix. I buy the Giants moving up to 3 or 4. Dropping a couple spots is a lot more palatable than dropping out of the top 10.
