JJ will make plays that Kirk could only dream about. Accurate passes on the run, left or right, scrambling for big 1st downs. Don't think he's quite ready yet, though.

I believe the Vikings didn’t give up much for JJM because they knew no one else was going to pick him that early, NOT because he wasn’t worth it. And they read the room right until Atlanta surprised everyone at #8 and took the QB the Raiders wanted. The Vikings had to jump up then because now there weren’t enough QB’s for the three remaining teams that were after one.

Hi Matthew, i have a small ask of you. Love your show, but can you please have the "Viking Pennant" in your background be visible on your screen? In previous shows, it always showed, but the new mic position is completely blocking it.

I would think anything short of Darnold dragging this team to an NFC Championship game would not warrant brass franchise tagging him

If he played well enough to inflate his trade value I could see the logic in tagging him. Maybe, really have to look at the numbers.

Regarding the comparison to Cousins, I see similarities in their willingness to stick/step up in the pocket, take a hit and put the ball on the money. J.J.’s athletic toolbox is something that Cousins cannot relate to. If McCarthy can catch on to the system, he’s going to be very good. And if that happens, the NFL falls in love with him. This kid is a leader that seemingly has great character.

Closer to Rattler than Maye?? Silly take. It's objectively untrue. Including Williams in that "ideal scenario" is also silly. It's pretty obvious their targets were (in order): Maye, McCarthy, Penix. Maye was a longshot to begin with and completely dependent on the Pats playing along; so one could more logically argue that their primary target was McCarthy.

If I am the Wilfs I have controlled that Kwesi and OConnell have a plan to bring JJ up to speed that is world class and up to highest standards. For instance I would ask what OConnell will be doing differently than Carolina did with Their QB last year. I would ask for updates on the progress of the plan and establish a communication plan based on his development. As long as the plan is on track and being executed I have patience with the decision on when to actually start. If I see the organization not executing their plan to develop JJ I start cracking whips.

I’d love to run yr 1 fully with Darnold !!! Good or bad. Let mcarthy sit entire yr and memorize every intricatecy of that offense. Then come out swinging 2024.
If Sam loses games we have a huge cap …. And I high pick again.
