I’ve said this before, but I’ll say again. I wanna see Hoyoverse make a pair of playable characters that are a canonical straight couple to watch the annoying gay Twitter shippers cry and make a big deal out of it. Preferably releasing the wife/girlfriend of the relationship first, then drop she’s married a couple patches later when the husband/boyfriend is getting released, while keeping that detail secret until they actually both release. I know it will never happen, but one can dream of the salty river of tears Twitter will cry.

Lol, this reminded me of a situation I saw on FB years ago. It was a male idol’s BDay (Idk who he is) so a fan drew him and one of his female friends having a meal platonically. Before that, those two had been in a same TV series, had good chemistry and confirmed to be friends. The comments went like “he’s gay, how dare you drew him with a female?”, “he belongs to B-male idol”, etc. I was like “dude, why do you assume someone sexuality? Did he confirm that?”. It was so weird, specially months later, he confirmed to date another female celeb. Assuming a fiction character’s canon sexuality is unreasonable enough. Imagine assuming real pp’s sexuality and talking about it- this’s unsettling.
Even if she is a lesbian, no one bats an eye when people draw straight characters as gay.

HOWEVER when it is done vice versa it is seen as oppressive....even though it isn't canon either way so it doesn't even matter in the first place.

People need to start saying characters are canonically straight. If they're allowed to make baseless statements about sexuality, we should, too.
It wouldn't be baseless then. only a few characters show romatic attraction towards Either of the twins, a couple of males and a couple of females, everyone else treats them like friends. As for the rest they all show no romantic or sexual attraction to anyone else. What this means is that they most likely default to straight, since the vast majority of people in the world are straight.
It wouldn't matter in the long run. A perfect example is when the creator of the Pixar's Luca film confirmed that the two main boys are NOT gay. And he got a lot of flack for it. Creators can say their characters are straight and these crazy people would be like "Imma gonna pretend I didn't hear that and keep saying these characters are gay."

That could be so many instances but you might be thinking of Touhou, who's creator literally came out and said every character (the cast is almost 100% women) is straight. Or Card Captor Sakura, where the main character eventually ends up with a man but everyone still ships her with her best friend anyway despite being told repeatedly in the series that she doesn't feel that way for her. Or just every Magical Girl Series ever that has a canon straight pairing in it.

Anyone who says that ANYONE is canonically gay or lesbian in a Hoyoverse game is in for a hilarious surprise when they find out that China is culturally very against such things. The CCP's censor board has been frequently criticized for removing actual canonical gay content from media. It's very unlikely they would allow such a popular game with worldwide recognition to be openly permissive of it, and Lisa's flirtatious dialogue can easily be written off as "she's just joking to make people uncomfortable," regardless of orientation.
Not a single voiced character in the game ever actually says anything explicit about romance or attraction one way or the other (except Lisa, but see above). The only known relationships in the game are all hetero.
Also, just, LOL WUT at "Yae would never date a man IRL!" She's LITERALLY based on a kitsune, which are frequently depicted in Japanese folklore as "fox wives." Her character matches that archetype rather well - mischievous but considerate, playful yet wise, and above all competent and strong willed. They want her to be Ei's lover when they're probably even closer than that - the same way Rukia and Ichigo are.

I swear to god, the Yuri fandom in Mihoyo's games is a smudge, it's cancer. After years on Honkai I get why they get pissed off at Men allegedly avoiding Yuri and not even giving It a chance, and it's entirely because of them. Yeah that’s the main thing why I hate shipping. Shipping is just a preference,you just make headcanons yourself and see if others like it as well. I am a straight shipper but what makes me sick of shipping is how it gets toxic for no reason. Mainly the yuri shippers gatekeeping their ships no matter how toxic it is will get mad if I said something that displeases them. Also does it even make sense that 99% of Honkai characters are all females? It’s like the game is bound to have yuri ships in it and even as a guy it’s just making me cringe. That’s what I hate about shipping stuff really.

And It not cuz it's afraid, there's plenty of openly Yuri games out there, so it's not like It would be needed to censor/erase it cuz it's a game. But the shippers 100% think honkai is their stuff and they can do what they want with It. Even in games where there's a good 50-50 Man/Woman, they will try to force Yuri. FGO is a good example. Try to say, for example, to a Yuri fan that you ship Sigfried and Jeanne, or Saber and Emiya instead of Saber and Mordred or Morgan. They'll eat you alive.

Social media let you curate who you see and who sees you, and because of that, they're only ever exposed to groups that agree with their viewpoints. When it comes to shipping characters, I don’t consider any character to have a canon sexuality unless it’s confirmed in the canon media. It’s okay to headcanon a character as lgbt+, but people have to remember that these are HEADcanons. Not everyone is going to agree with them nor follow them. And that’s alright, you have your headcanons and people have theirs. But I cross the line when someone tries to force their headcanons onto others and claim that it’s canon.
Yes, it becomes a problem when they go after and attack someone because they have a different opinion to them. I for one don't care that people ship two totally straight characters like Bakugo and Deku together but I do get annoyed when they then go and get mad that a canonically gay or lesbian character has been made straight. I just start thinking, "ahhh... so you're a hypocrite... I see, I see".
That's my biggest problem with shipping. I don't really do it cause I don't like it, but ultimately I just let people have their fun. Just don't come at me trying to convince me that your ship is canon when it's clearly not unless I see otherwise. Hell someone tried to make me out to be a shipper.

The power of the artist is that they can draw anything and anyone however they want, with only their capabilities being the restraint.
Funny enough, Hoyo is smart enough to never confirm any love relationships between characters or even their sexuality, they intentionally do it for obvious reasons (unless such love relationship is relevant to the story like Cecilia and Siegfried from Honkai Impact and possibly Klee's parents when they get there). Therefore, no ship/assumed sexuality is or will ever be cannon, no matter what people on twatter say.
