@@zaynredwood I think that's fair, but it was also an idea that had been discussed for a long time within realm. It's not exactly a novel concept by any means, but I don't think that holds it back from being a great change if done well.
Haven’t played realm since I graduated college and went into a job at a bank. This video made me want to time manage better so I can get back into this game when it releases
Dont know how to feel about this change tbh, if you make too many events like this, they will turn into avatar of the forgotten king, which most people ignore because no good loot + takes too long + too much brain power usage
That's a fair point, but there's a chance very difficult events like these could give exalts. Remains to be seen, but if drop rates are better than event whites then it might not feel like playing the lottery which would be nice.
@@tortareka The Realm Rework is also going to rework how realms are cleared with the Realm Score system, so although clearing event bosses is still technically the most efficient way to clear realms, it's not required. My only fear is tweaking the actual numbers since a large point requirement would just bring it back to making realms a drag to clear, while making it too small would give little to no time to clear in the realm.
ROTMG is a masterpiece for his category and it rly deserves a rework to make it great again! I hope other old school players r gonna make an attempt on it just like I will. See y'all there
Seems like a great idea, since with the new realm events they also get the opportunity to add more new dungeons, which will probably be exalt dungeons. I'm honestly looking forward to it since I'd rather have more exalt options than having to spam one single dungeon 75 times
I think the most important thing that the devs should focus on is balancing as of now. Fundamental changes like realm score and convenient long-needed features like beacons are already pretty good, bugs and placeholders aside. Alongside polishing, DECA really needs to make sure that these new biomes are actually fitting for their difficulty levels, and while I'm still somewhat cautious, I'm also excited at the prospect of actually having to think when farming enemies in those harder biomes. Chill farming is still an option, but you now can't just sit afk and let a bunch of ent gods come to you before sucking them dry on a necro. I wasn't there much for this session and I didn't even know that there were event bosses, but I'm really looking forward to this update. From my personal experience, the fundamental gameplay changes are mostly solid, and from what I've seen here, the new biomes will be a lot more alive and engaging than before.
You should probably expect things to be pretty unbalanced at release. Adding so much stuff is basically guaranteeing unbalance, just have to hope they will fix it afterward which they probably will try at least.
Ngl with my year like break with RotMG, this gets me really excited and hopefull for the future of the game. Can't wait to make a new ppe and try it out
Triton (one of the main designers on the project) specifically said that this was the goal for this session. Rather than come out with a near finished testing and have a wall of complaints, each session’s flaws are pointed out and can be addressed as they go.
I don't think the core gameplay loop should so heavily include risking your character, over time the game is catering more and more to endgame players, which is fine for endgame content, but I don't think the realm should have that same risk.
My hope, and from what it felt like, this will be better for newer players and endgame players. Endgame will be accessible within the realm, but it will also be viable to grind mid level areas for a while.

We need an 'Eternal Rleam'. A realm portal that never closes so no o1->03. This would be a huge help to stop discord runs as you don't have to sit in a que for 10 minutes. Discords will still exist but at least you can freely run dungeons again. Events that don't drop dungeons could be kept inside normal realms and have events that drop dungeons inside eternal realms. This clears up Quest space and have more of their respective events appear inside the different realms type. Downside to this, deca looses money on keys but that's my hope to get rid of discords and bring in new players.
I’m advocating for biome based np scaling so hp scaling only is only affected by players within a biome. That’s a later topic as far as the roadmap for this goes.
Often times it feels like toward the end game the bullet number and difficulty is increased same as damage but there isn’t an in between phase where bullet number and speed and variation is increased but damage isn’t, do you feel biomes may help with this?
Yeah for sure, the first boss I showed off really feels like it fits in that category, you’re not gonna die because of a bunch of high damage shots, but rather it’ll whittle you down slowly overtime like the Moonlight Village, I’ll talk to some of the designers, but afaik they do plan on having different biomes have a different feel as far as playstyle.
Don't get me wrong the idea of additional biomes is cool but the execution seems like theyre just making a large cluster bomb of content. You can add details to biomes without adding a billion sprites on the screen in my opinion. Its one of the reasons I like the minimalistic appeal of older realm.
hmm it looks like a different game now, i'm not sure i like that for me rotmg is a game where i can login daily, do few events then leave and come back later the week if they make me not able to do content i like and is gating behind 8/8 constantly, then i wont have time to play anymore, that sucks splitting the game is not good, u want everyone playing together, you want the community feel connected, fragmenting a casual game = dead in the long run before we all worked together to close a realm and go to o3 or we all gathered in helping take down Avatar, even if i didn't do the dungeon, it was fun doing the hard content on my NPE
RotMG kinda *needs* to be a different game, otherwise it's going to continue to slowly but surely fade away and then truly die. I'm pretty sure the whole realm rework is going to unite players of different skill types together in the actual realm. There's literally biome levels for each main leg of the journey: getting to level 20, grinding to 8/8, and farming event bosses for endgame dungeons. Events aren't going away/being made harder and if anything, there more of them and they're becoming more engaging than just big boss surrounded with hundreds of smaller enemies. And despite power level guiding players of certain skill levels to certain quest monsters, veterans who are starting on a fresher character can still teleport to the higher end biomes. The only way I could see them actually fragmenting the playerbase within the Realm would be to lock higher difficulty content behind higher power levels, and a big part of playing in the Realm, at least to me, is being able to go anywhere, even if you probably shouldn't be in the God Lands at level 1 on a Wizard with T0 gear.
I think the sprite forest looks incredible tbh, Ik I didn’t have a lot of great video covering it, but if most of them end up in a similar state then I think they will be fine.
