  • Hey guys! Agent 9088 bought this lovely Lancia and had it shipped all the way from Italy! I couldn't wait to see it, so I asked him to send us some video so we could take a look at this fantastic and very rare machine! Then: Alex brought over some of his vintage saws and cut away a bunch of the overgrown parts-car-parking lot, so we can start moving some of the cars I parked in there a decade ago!

Hey nobody intends to become "that guy" with trees growing through the cars.... it just happens lol.
An old man I knew years back kept sheep. He also bought and sold farm equipment. Everything....tillage to manure to harvest equipment. Lots of metal, sharp pokie things that don't let you mow too close. Every spring he had a bunch of lambs and they would get in all around all that stuff and it looked mowed (trimmed even) all the time. He'd call em vicious bastards and all that fun stuff, but he always said as the sheep go on their own they're a losing proposition. But as a maintenance crew they pay big dividends. He had 3-4 acres of iron that changed all the time, never mowed it, and could always walk to or retrieve anything anytime. Ankle deep grass never happened until late fall after the herd cull.

hey scott thanks for the vids! did i hear right some yard cleanup? dose this mean some organizing and general tidy up to go with it?? as a fellow collector of anything possibly useful in the future i understand the pain of downsizing . i would go through the inventory decide what is parts what is restorable and what is only yard art... sell the yard art minus a prime example or 2 ...pare the restorable down to 2 decades of work lol and thin the parts down to the remaining restorable... it should generate some revenue to invest in the collection . and yup the hedgerow has snuck up on ya on the bright side its firewood. bong tea and video 8D

I helped start the local Fiat and Lancia club here in Houston. I have only seen one Fulvia in the real world, and that was 22 years ago. Scorpions, Betas, and Beta Zagatos are all over the place. The Auto Archaeologist had a Fulvia on his channel sitting in a junk yard that looked very restorable.

I think Tom summed it up for most chain saws, "She smokes like a bitch." And....Al is a work machine. The yard is taking on a less wooded personality. We don't have Birch trees (or Aspin or whatever those were that Al was cutting), around here. We have scrub Oak and Hickory and chigger infested head high weeds. Along the MO River there are scrub Willow and Cotton Wood. Good stuff as always... Cheers from KCMO

That Lancia is absolutely gorgeous. The sound out of it is heavenly. No safety bumpers on it at all. They were only good when you had to park. When the bumpers hit , you were good. Those bumpers were also good in the winter time around town. When it snowed, all the kids used to hang out at the stop signs and hold on to the rear bumper. Then when you pulled away they would slide on the snow for a while until they let go. Fun times they were. You have to love Al. He lights up with that smoky chainsaw going. He should hire himself out for mosquito control with that thing. I love the way he cut all that timber into nice piles. In aircraft mechanic school we had an old twin Beechcraft with radial engines. They were great to start up. They would blow a gallon of oil out on cold start up. There were no mosquitoes in the whole area at all. Even more fun times. Thanks for the video, it was great to see the Lancia and Al being Al.

I've never been much for European cars except the 60 something V12 Jag but this Lancia is one i would add to the like list. It's a good looking car and even the engine is kinda nifty. I was surprised when he said it's front wheel drive, the stance makes it look rear wheel drive. I used one of them Homelite saws that Al was using, it's a good ole saw, powerful for it's size, way more power than my late model one. The late model always starts on the first pull though so it's my go to saw for small stuff.

Recall that on Italian cars of that era, the second wand for the lights controls the parking lights as well as low and high beam. Lift it up and the parking lights come on, switching off the headlights. Learned my lesson the first time I did that at night in my Fiat 131. Instant darkness!

Scott, that 1972 Fury coupe is rather stylish. I recall it was one of the first, if not the very first, cars on your property. Over a decade ago, there were a couple videos featuring it. 1972 was the model year that best embodied the spirit of the fuselage styling. You might want to do something with it. If it no longer runs, all you need is a good old 318 and you'll have plenty of power. You can even install the hideaway headlight set up from the wagon on it if you like that look (though it looks quite cool with exposed headlights too). Me likes!

Hey Scott! Excellent work splicing our random terrible footage into something coherent and (hopefully) entertaining. Making us look good.
I should have put a disclaimer in that I'm no expert and no doubt got a few details wrong. So many comments about rust! Yes the Betas were infamous, but AFAIK these and other earlier Lancias were no worse than their contemporaries. Good luck finding a 1970 911 that didn't rust out if it was in a less-than-ideal environment. Luckily, the PNW is a pretty ideal environment so it should last longer than a few months here. Will be replacing past-due tires, hoses, etc. over the winter, and hopefully will get the car out your way for some first-hand experience. Cheers - 9088.

    • @coldwarmotors
      @coldwarmotors  2 года назад +2

Hey 9088! Thanks again for taking the time to put that together for us! Thanks also to Milo for shooting it all; you guys are the best! Yeah, I agree that picking on Lancias for rust is kind of missing the point when almost all cars of that era, when exposed to heavy salt, turned to dust. That said, I don't think I've ever seen an original one as good as what you've found!
Please to make the trip to HQ anytime; I'd be very happy for a chance to go around the block in such a jewel of a car...Cheers guys, and thanks again!

Avid Coldwarmotors fan, been a massive Lancia fan as long as my time began. Really nice to see this, always had a Lancia or a few of some sort since I was 18 working or mostly not working. Thanks guys. If a Lancia is my casket when I leave the conscious world I will be happy.

I have to admire a guy that can do revivals out of his own stash. I respect the way you have set up your own little outside art gallery and cycle in the classic tires and caps. Even though they may never hit the road, they are dressed for the part, and still breathing. Cheers brother.

The Fulvia is cool, and nobody should lose street cred if they haven’t seen one. I only saw and worked on a couple of Lancias as a mechanic at Ital Motors in Edmonton as a much younger man. It must have been extremely rare in these parts. That weird cotter pin hose clamp did travel all the way from Italy down to the Russian built Lada though. I meticulously removed, saved, and reinstalled those on my Signet when I worked on hoses just because I’m a little weird. 🙂

I never saw a Lancia till now either, that engine looks like it was dueling with Citroen. Amazing the stuff hiding in that bush, you can now pretend it's a new discovery on another yard and make a deal with yourself to buy it all.

That Lancia looks like brand new. Always good to add extra two stroke oil to ward off the black flies. Looks like there's enough firewood to keep the shop warm for your winter projects. Trees are a renewable resource but, apparently, Alex uncovered some non-renewable resources after the smoke and trees were cleared.

Al is a wildcat. I see stitches when he grabs a saw! Shops going to look good soon.
Maybe some old school used car lot "string lights" would be appropriate when done.
    Cheers 🇨🇦

Tks for the ride in the Lancia. I owned a white 1.6S in Italy in the '80's and had a great time.
