For your variegated frydek with a bent petiole you can use a plastic straw and cut it to size (about an inch)and then cut it lengthwise so you can open it to wrap it and use some tape to hold it in place as a brace. It works and helped our bent dragon scale and now he's standing on his own. 😁

Hi Melissa, thanks for all your great videos. Question: I've been using a liquid organic fertilizer and was thinking of switching to Osmocote. Can you give me some tips. I have over 100 plants and am quite seasoned grower but I've never used a slow release. I wanted to switch because the smell of the organic is annoying lol and because I have so many plants want to use something a bit more easy. Can I start now eventhough it's slowly getting close to the end of the growing season? Can I use all all plants such as philly's to Calatheas? I do use Distilled water on my calatheas. Thanks for your help.

    • @plantsbymelissa

I don't clean my leaves a whole lot but I will shower them occasionally! I use beneficial mites so in-between them I'll clean some dust off. I mostly use water and sometimes I add a little castille soap in there but that can harm them so I have to be cautious lol. As long as your leaves can dry and they have airflow I don't really worry about a fungal spread happening :)

    Hi!

I am really trying to focus on the plants I currently have but seeing some of your anthurium and others have been really making me want to get one in 2023. Any tips and suggestions on easier anthurium? I’ve heard they are thirsty plants 😅

I think out of the ones I have most are very similar care or have been easy except for the queen anthurium, definitely a pickier one. The clarinervium I really love with the leaf shape. The crystal and forgetii have been about the same too. My hybrid one is definitely easy going. They are thirsty plants especially when you have a new growth coming in. I water mine twice a week :)

How often do you water/spray your moss poles?

    • @plantsbymelissa

I water them twice a week, one of the waterings stops before it reaches the soil and the other all the way through :)
