Maybe the ID of a trainer is the number of the pocket dimension his Pokemon go to when he gets them in a pokeball. If that's true, the dimension inside the pokeball suddently changes. So that's the explanation of why in-game traded Pokemon evolve by dimensional mutation. It seems possible, am i right?
you just made me realise, when a graveler evolves he suddenly only has 2 arms, and machoke gets 2 arms more. This does mean that they get mutated by dimension traveling

This theory would also explain why it appears none of the characters ever age. Every time Ash and his friends explore a new region, they are actually all being explored at the same time by several Ash's on different planets/dimensions. Even if this may not explain how Ash retains memories of his previous journeys, it’s still entirely possible.
Ironicly, I thought that if they did use the Link Cable to warp the Meteorite, That same one would go to the spinoff Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red/Blue Rescue team world, where the world was threaten by Natural Disasters because of a Meteorite on a course for the planet, large enough to destroy all the Pokemon there. What if because of your actions of using the Cable. The Pokeones above weren't pleased with your choice, and when you sleep and wake up, they turned you into a Pokemon in that world to make up for your wrong choice?
Well, the meteor thing is... Actually pretty believable, but the part about being turned into a Pokemon for a wrong choice is able to be disproved simply by playing the game. Gardevoir says in-game that the reason you were turned into a Pokemon was because you fit the qualifications of being a hero and saving their world.
Marionette But what if another Pokemon had been? Remember, in the game Gengar was Gardevoir's trainer whom she died to save. He's cursed to be reborn as a Pokemon as punishment, but I don't think (or recall) that this exact punishment was ever stated... perhaps his punishment was to watch a world be destroyed knowing that he was responsible?

What's funny is that your theory has been completely proven true with the new Ultra Moon and Sun games. xD SPOILERS Ultra Wormholes connect different realities and through them some new pokemon, (and in the Ultra versions a different species of humanity) come through. And through the Ultra Wormholes, your game connects with ALL different editions (Ruby, Sapphire, Black, etc). From there, Giovanni comes through wanting to rule over all dimensions. He teams up with the villains from every game, villains who have all won in their respective realities. For example, the villain from Sapphire created a world of only sea, Ruby's created a world of only earth, etc. The HERO, you, was never born in those dimensions and thus they all won. So, yeah: you're completely right. :D
To add to this there are Pokemon that dimension hop anyway... Giratina in the reverse world. Dialga and palkia in their dimensions as well as arceus himself.

It's actually really cool to think about. Tomorrow in school, if I choose to not do my homework tonight, the teacher won't be very happy, and then I will remember that, and I will feel a bit bad, and I will maybe do the homework the next day instead of the plans I actually had, and do the plans I actually had another day, and so on. This theory is definitely correct. In Pokèmon Sun and Moon, you can use a worm hole to travel to another dimension. If you have Sun, you travel to the world of Pokėmon Moon, and for Moon you go to Sun!
Not quite. The Pokemon exclusive to the other game still can't be caught if you pass through the wormhole. I suppose that's because it would negate the need to trade with people. It still puts your theory into question though especially since the wormhole changes the in game time with respect to real world time so the two worlds are effectively the same without the real world to compare it to.
There is only one problem with that. Zangoose and Seviper. If this theory was to 100% correct only one of these would exist in their given dimension. But their pokedex entries mention in every game that they have a feud against each other that can be observed in wildlife. So either Zangoose and Seviper are very big excaptions from this theory or the theory (or at least that part of it) isnt quite right.

Also Adam Carlson his theory is the implied lore while it could be a universe of Sun where the time of day is differnet, everything is closed, and Cosmog goes undiscovered. And for Maank, trainers in each game have the opposing exclusive so in theory they could display hostile natures towards each other after being bred or in the daycare. That way even if "wild" is specified it could be a released Seviper/Zangoose that originally existed in universe through an NPC trainer, and the dex could be updated in universe (Not an IRL update like how entries change go to game but a canon edit before the game starts (also I don't want to imply you don't understand what I mean I just want to cover all bases.)) so that the rivalry is mentioned.

I've been held captive by the recent pokemon craze and I just wanted retread the glory that is MattPatt's glorious pokemon videos. I feel that I must point out though, that they're most likely not called pocket monsters because they use pocket dimensions in their pokemon capturing tech, but according to Pokemon Legends, they're called pocket monsters because they have the ability to change their size naturally, a property pokeballs takes advantage of rather than something inherent in the schematics of the technological device itself.

Actually the game literally tells you that your theory is true. Most don't pay attention but when you talk to the opposite leader of your game in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire They say "Hmm perhaps there Is another dimension where I would have been the one to awaken Kyogre/Groudon and you would face me."
By deleting data you simply make an universe where you did that and an universe where you didn`t. And no, we don`t live in different universes. Everyone on this Earth in this timeline lives in this universe.

Gumball As I already said, you missed the point of his comment. What he is saying is everyone's copy of every Pokemon game is, by the theory in the video, a separate universe within the Pokemon multiverse. In deleting a save file, you are "erasing" that universe and starting a "new" one.

The Pokemon games currently have two timelines 1: RBGY GSC RSE DPP BW B2W2 This is the normal timeline. 2: FRLG HGSS ORAS XY SM This one has the weapon fired, the meteor that hits earth which causes Mega Evolution, Primal Reversion, and Z-Moves
Mico Nuq the remakes up to HGSS were just remakes. the actual timeline is Y and RSE (they happen at the same time, and yellow because pikachu is the canon starter) 3 years later HGSS and DPPt (same time) some time later BW 2 years later B2W2 and some kind of kalos without mega evolution the new timeline is some kind of megaverse yellow (originally thought to be Pokemon Origins, but pikachu is still in SM) and ORAS 3 years later megaverse johto and sinnoh (possible remakes) some time later megaverse unova 2 years later megaverse unova 2 and XY all of it ending with SM one of the game developers confirmed this timeline of games happening at the same time on twitter, and there are other references too, like the lake of rage on tv in DP, for example. Also the o power guy is created in ORAS and later shows up in XY. also meaning in SM wally should be the same age as red and blue

I just finished the Pokémon Sun Looker Postgame, and I'm happy to say that it took a little under two years, this theory is 100% CONFIRMED!!! WOOHOO MATPAT YOU DID IT MY GUY!!! Evidence in Sun? The small novel of dialogue between Looker and Nanu about Anabel near the end of the postgame. Looker says that a decade before the events of the game, Looker and Nanu found a girl on a beach. She had been doused in energy from an Ultra Wormhole, which suggests that she was from another world. When she awoke, she could only tell them four things: Her name was Anabel She was from the Hoenn region She "protected some kind of tower there" (verbatim from Looker) She was a powerful Trainer. This isn't a coincidence; Anabel first appeared as one of the Frontier Brains in Emerald. In the Battle Tower, which doesn't exist in ORAS. Let's recap: Anabel, a trainer from Hoenn in Emerald, a Frontier Brain at the Battle Tower, which doesn't exist in ORAS, washed up on a beach as an almost-amnesiac from an Ultra Wormhole, (which lead to other worlds) from the universe without megas to the one with them. Boom. Theory confirmed. And if by some lack of cognitive function you STILL don't believe this, take your mascot legendary to the Altar of the Sunne in Sun or Altar of the Moone in Moon and you'll find a rift in reality. Go up to it. Hit A. What text box come up? Does it say "Solgaleo/Lunala can transport you twelve hours ahead. Will let let it?" Think about it further. You can take a pokemon from one version of Ruby and Sapphire where the death machine didn't go off, to another version of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire where the death machine did go off.
Only once, you went from 1 dimension to the other when crossing from Black 2 to X, but the rest of the time you were transferring them through different parrarel universes.

For example: *spoilers* If you beat Alpha Sapphire for the 3DS, there is an "afterstory" about Zillia (I think her name is) where she destroys a device to save Hoenn from the meteor that's about to hit. She mentions about a wormhole device about another version of Hoenn but a Hoenn without the Mega Evolution (Sapphire GBA) and without the Great Pokemon War 3,000 years ago (Pokemon X and Y) So yeah MatPat nailed it...

I can definitely get behind this theory because it explains why Gary, Blue, Ash, and Red are 4 completely different people even though they both play the same roles in-game and in the anime. Matpat you forgot the other post game events like the legendaries. If you've heard of Hoopa it can literally rip a hole in hyperspace and transport things through that hole like the legendary pokemon, but if Hoopa has this power why doesn't he have the power to traverse dimensions.

Okay... I'm gonna fix this once and for all. A dimension is a directional axis along a plane, such as the X and Y co-ordinates on a map. It's a form of *measurement*, NOT a "parallel universe". The correct term for parallel universe is... *Parallel universe*. It doesn't need a synonym. Yes, it is possible there are more dimensions than we have so far observed, and those other dimensions could be a way into different spacial regions. This does not mean dimensions are, themselves, places. You can't "go to" a dimension, or be inside one. We are not IN the third dimension, anymore than we are "in" the dimension of centimetres. We are simply measurable along three dimensional axis. (Four if you want to get non-Euclidean). Any different environments that travel along a new dimension could grant us, if such a thing were even possible, would NOT be the same thing as going to a parallel universe. (And while we're on the topic... different timelines and parallel universes - not the same thing. And I'm not even going to touch the Schroedinger's cat you butchered...) And as for the Many Worlds theory, that's about quantum decoherence, not new agey bullshit about choices making entire universes spring out of the Ether. No, they say that in mystery dungeon Humans are myths and things of legends, and that the human that turns into the pokemon (you) always somehow fall from the human world into the pokemon world. They're mentioned but they aren't in the same sort of dimension. Like in Super Mystery Dungeon, they specifically say that Mew had taken you to the pokemon world from the human world on at LEAST two different occations, but you're unable to remember until maybe at the end (haven't played til the epilogue yet)

My Ninjask, which was transferred from Ruby version, to Diamond version, to Black version 2, and finally to Omega Ruby, had its journey described like this: "Seems to have traveled through both space and time to reach you from the Hoenn region." In ORAS you already ARE in the Hoenn region, and what's with space and time? This further supports your theory, as do the stat changes that some Pokemon got (Raichu, Alakazam, and Pidgeot to provide some examples).

Obviously these transferred Pokemon traveled *across* space and time at a speed higher than normal, placing them in a new dimension, if "standing around" is indeed actual time travel. Otherwise, transferring from Ruby and Sapphire would be the equivalent of trading with Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, would it not?
I can't believe this is correct. In the newest installment of the game, Ultra sun and Ultra moon, this theory is confirmed. It takes place in an alternate universe than the previous installment, Sun and Moon. Also, in the game, you can use the legendary pokemon Solgaleo or Lunala in order to travel through ultra space and you can travel to other dimensions to catch pokemon from other regions, including legendary pokemon. This is further proven when the post game, the rainbow rocket episode, is completed. Each villain is from a universe where they captured their own respective legendary pokemon and achieved their goal, for example, Lysandre activating the ultimate weapon, Maxie creating a planet with out oceans etc.

It actually proves there are almost infinite realities that are almost the exact same as the one you play in, but small events change that reality in massive, and in some cases, horrific, ways. Not only that, but certain groups (such as the Devon Corp and a group from SM/USUM) have the technology to go between these realities and alternate universes.

First, legends ARE possible to cathch in the anime. Cynthia had a Rayquaza. Now you could be right about the legendary being so little of blah blah blah but according to other theories, legendaries were appointed by Arceus to protect their territory. Manaphy prince of the sea, Dialga time, Palkia space, and so on and so on. So there are two ways this could work: 1, you are wrong and Legendaries were just creations of arceus. 2. You are correct explaining why there are for example more than one Mew and that's why they are granted the honor to guard a territory.

Trade evolutions happen through in-game trades as well, so that's unlikely.
Maybe the ID of a trainer is the number of the pocket dimension his Pokemon go to when he gets them in a pokeball.
If that's true, the dimension inside the pokeball suddently changes. So that's the explanation of why in-game traded Pokemon evolve by dimensional mutation. It seems possible, am i right?

Every time Ash and his friends explore a new region, they are actually all being explored at the same time by several Ash's on different planets/dimensions.
Even if this may not explain how Ash retains memories of his previous journeys, it’s still entirely possible.
Ironicly, I thought that if they did use the Link Cable to warp the Meteorite, That same one would go to the spinoff Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red/Blue Rescue team world, where the world was threaten by Natural Disasters because of a Meteorite on a course for the planet, large enough to destroy all the Pokemon there.

Well, the meteor thing is... Actually pretty believable, but the part about being turned into a Pokemon for a wrong choice is able to be disproved simply by playing the game. Gardevoir says in-game that the reason you were turned into a Pokemon was because you fit the qualifications of being a hero and saving their world.

What's funny is that your theory has been completely proven true with the new Ultra Moon and Sun games. xD
SPOILERS
Ultra Wormholes connect different realities and through them some new pokemon, (and in the Ultra versions a different species of humanity) come through. And through the Ultra Wormholes, your game connects with ALL different editions (Ruby, Sapphire, Black, etc). From there, Giovanni comes through wanting to rule over all dimensions. He teams up with the villains from every game, villains who have all won in their respective realities. For example, the villain from Sapphire created a world of only sea, Ruby's created a world of only earth, etc. The HERO, you, was never born in those dimensions and thus they all won.
So, yeah: you're completely right. :D
Or, you know, someone never finished their game making it possible? :3
To add to this there are Pokemon that dimension hop anyway... Giratina in the reverse world. Dialga and palkia in their dimensions as well as arceus himself.

It's actually really cool to think about. This theory is definitely correct. In Pokèmon Sun and Moon, you can use a worm hole to travel to another dimension. If you have Sun, you travel to the world of Pokėmon Moon, and for Moon you go to Sun!
Not quite. The Pokemon exclusive to the other game still can't be caught if you pass through the wormhole. I suppose that's because it would negate the need to trade with people. It still puts your theory into question though especially since the wormhole changes the in game time with respect to real world time so the two worlds are effectively the same without the real world to compare it to.
There is only one problem with that. Zangoose and Seviper. If this theory was to 100% correct only one of these would exist in their given dimension. But their pokedex entries mention in every game that they have a feud against each other that can be observed in wildlife.
So either Zangoose and Seviper are very big excaptions from this theory or the theory (or at least that part of it) isnt quite right.

You're clearly nothing but a Sinnoh fan boy who wanted to artificially insert gen 4 into this video despite the theory being based on mega evolutions and more specifically gen 3. You also used evidence from a completely different canon, so it's basically invalid. Also everyone else in this comment line brought up a genuine response to the OP's comment while you mentioned your own idea which could be it's own thread. Also Adam Carlson his theory is the implied lore while it could be a universe of Sun where the time of day is differnet, everything is closed, and Cosmog goes undiscovered. And for Maank, trainers in each game have the opposing exclusive so in theory they could display hostile natures towards each other after being bred or in the daycare. That way even if "wild" is specified it could be a released Seviper/Zangoose that originally existed in universe through an NPC trainer, and the dex could be updated in universe (Not an IRL update like how entries change go to game but a canon edit before the game starts (also I don't want to imply you don't understand what I mean I just want to cover all bases.)) so that the rivalry is mentioned.

I just finished the Pokémon Sun Looker Postgame, and I'm happy to say that it took a little under two years, this theory is 100% CONFIRMED!!! WOOHOO MATPAT YOU DID IT MY GUY!!!

Think about it further. You can take a pokemon from one version of Ruby and Sapphire where the death machine didn't go off, to another version of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire where the death machine did go off.
Only once, you went from 1 dimension to the other when crossing from Black 2 to X, but the rest of the time you were transferring them through different parrarel universes.
This makes my Amphoros and my Typhlosion Time Lords comming from Heartgold all the way to Alpha Sapphire (skipping Black 1)

You know the theory really is more on the true side when ultra sun and moon came out, with all the villains coming from different dimensions and timelines during the rainbow rocket events, it really all does make sense in a way that each game reallynis its own dimension with slightly different outcomes or plot points

A dimension is a directional axis along a plane, such as the X and Y co-ordinates on a map. It's a form of *measurement*, NOT a "parallel universe". The correct term for parallel universe is... *Parallel universe*. It doesn't need a synonym. Yes, it is possible there are more dimensions than we have so far observed, and those other dimensions could be a way into different spacial regions. This does not mean dimensions are, themselves, places. You can't "go to" a dimension, or be inside one. We are not IN the third dimension, anymore than we are "in" the dimension of centimetres. We are simply measurable along three dimensional axis. (Four if you want to get non-Euclidean).
Any different environments that travel along a new dimension could grant us, if such a thing were even possible, would NOT be the same thing as going to a parallel universe. (And while we're on the topic... different timelines and parallel universes - not the same thing. And I'm not even going to touch the Schroedinger's cat you butchered...) And as for the Many Worlds theory, that's about quantum decoherence, not new agey bullshit about choices making entire universes spring out of the Ether. But there's only so much pseudoscience I can tackle in one sitting. :P

Actual text from the game: "Seems to have traveled *ACROSS* both space and time *IN ORDER* to reach you from the Hoenn/Sinnoh/Johto/Unova/Kanto region or a distant land (Orre)." Obviously these transferred Pokemon traveled *across* space and time at a speed higher than normal, placing them in a new dimension, if "standing around" is indeed actual time travel. Otherwise, transferring from Ruby and Sapphire would be the equivalent of trading with Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, would it not?

Me watching this in 2021: God, this intro gives me nostalgia.
I can't believe this is correct. In the newest installment of the game, Ultra sun and Ultra moon, this theory is confirmed. It takes place in an alternate universe than the previous installment, Sun and Moon. Also, in the game, you can use the legendary pokemon Solgaleo or Lunala in order to travel through ultra space and you can travel to other dimensions to catch pokemon from other regions, including legendary pokemon. This is further proven when the post game, the rainbow rocket episode, is completed. Each villain is from a universe where they captured their own respective legendary pokemon and achieved their goal, for example, Lysandre activating the ultimate weapon, Maxie creating a planet with out oceans etc.
i was already confirmed by zinnia. she literally says that this is the case.....
ultra sun/moon is just the final proof that makes people who still dont believe it the flat earth theorists of pokemon

So, this theory basically confirms Sinnoh remakes since we now know there is an alternate version of Sinnoh where mega evolution exists, different than the one portrayed in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. By further extension, we could assume there would eventually be remakes for Unova, for the same reason. Also, could you please do an episode on the Pokemon timeline? Because now that there are alternate realities of Pokemon, which ones fall in which sequencial timelines?

I was thinking whenever the new hand held system comes out, because we got FRLG, on the Gamevoy Advance, HGSS, on the DS, and ORAS, on the 3DS. So it could still be gen 7, if that is on the new nintendo system

It actually proves there are almost infinite realities that are almost the exact same as the one you play in, but small events change that reality in massive, and in some cases, horrific, ways. Not only that, but certain groups (such as the Devon Corp and a group from SM/USUM) have the technology to go between these realities and alternate universes.

Is there a possibility, that 3k years ago almost all Pokemon died?
- What if there were completely different Pokemon ages ago, but they died on battlefields after constantly entering Life/Death state in Poke-balls.
- Maybe Pokemon we know now are just evolved versions from older and better versions?
- Maybe legendary Pokemon are rare, and don't want to get caught because they survived 3000 years, and that's why there is so little of them, and why they dislike trainers. Mew, Lugia, etc. They all are one of the kind, because they saw death of their species getting in and out of Poke-balls, and that's why capturing them is near impossible (impossible in anime).

First, legends ARE possible to cathch in the anime. Cynthia had a Rayquaza. Now you could be right about the legendary being so little of blah blah blah but according to other theories, legendaries were appointed by Arceus to protect their territory. Manaphy prince of the sea, Dialga time, Palkia space, and so on and so on. So there are two ways this could work: 1, you are wrong and Legendaries were just creations of arceus. 2. You are correct explaining why there are for example more than one Mew and that's why they are granted the honor to guard a territory.
