    If you don't like doing the division you can think that if they have the same degree on top & bottom you use a constant 'A' if the numerator has a degree 1 higher than the denominator use Ax+B as a constant before the partial fractions

    How do u know whether it’s an improper fraction? Would I always have to expand the denominator?

      The top is much larger than the bottom, this is how I understand it.

      The numerator's degree is either equal or larger than denominator's degree.

      If the Power of X at the Numerator is Bigger than the Power of x at the Denominator.Then you apply this Method he used.
