I remember Hanafuda cards when I lived in Hawaii. The adults in the house I lived in would play paiute with their friends on weekends until the wee hours of the morning.
When I was little, the adults would always get together to play cards. None of the other kids were interested, but I always wanted to play. My grandpa would always let me take his spot to play a few games. (It was penny poker)
Sounds fine. Trumps, hearts, gin rummy, hanafuda were popular, even cribbage during high school. The thing about the card games of pre-electronic games, which these generations might not appreciate was that it was low-tech, interactive with a live person(s) and required quick assessment, luck, quick sight/movement and strategy. A change of players brought variety of those factors into each game. Truthfully, if you really had to choose between playing with live people versus individually playing own phone, which would you rather find enjoyable? It's like being on the basketball court with your basketball, you shoot baskets by self or play a pickup game.
Started teaching our boys card games! We play a very slow Pipito, and I give my 9 yr old chance to beat me in Speed. Also some card tricks. Go Fish and Memory with my 5 yr old. Good fun. They all love to play Magic and YuGioh with their cousins, but best to teach them the old school games on playing cards too! Mahalo for your videos🤙🏼
The game you're calling "BS" we called "I Doubt It" in my family, but basically the same. If you didn't win you could say the winner was "the biggest liar", since deception was almost required to win.
In public middle school, my science teacher started a lunchtime card playing club where we learned how to play 'Bridge'...it was great! When living on the mainland, I learned another type of 'card game' Dominos'. Which in my view was very much like a card game. Thanks for taking us down Memory Lane...I had forgotten about many of those card games...time to 'go fish'!
Card games...wow! So long ago! LOL! We used to play spades. It was like trumps but you keep score, and of course, it can go on forever. I don't think many kids today know how to play such games aside from black jack or poker.
Wow!!! I forget how to play Trumps. As small kids, we also played Paiute (Payoot?). All I remember is it was kinda like poker. But you really brought back memories. Mahalo 🫶🏻🤙🏼
Chris, I've never heard of those card games you mentioned. As a young kid from California, we played "old maid". The only other card game we played in high school was "strip poker". Correction, I meant poker. Take care! Oh, later in life, we friends played Gin Rummy,
Trumps and Rich Man Poor Man were the big two. Speed when when we were younger. And Pipito in HS. Kemp’s was hard cause you had to confer between games to create the tell and the other team would try to eaves drop.
Hi Chris, thank you for the vlog! Brings back a lot of good fun memories! Yes, Trumps! That was the game for sure in high school. Friend of mine came over about a month ago from Hawaii, they introduced a card game I never heard of before, but it turns out it's been around for a long time. It was called golf. Maybe if you have time, you can try to look it up. Was good fun.
Yes to all these games! Played team trumps the most, but my favorite was Kemps! I had a lot of McKinley friends play Killer (a variation of rich man poor man)
I'm old enough to remember when airlines gave out free decks.

We used to play hanafuda too. Lots of good times.
@@HelloFromHawaii Hanafuda with the grandmas!

Sounds like fun. Never grew up playing cards with the adults. Mostly my cousins.

Great that you started teaching them. I learned how to play at school. I used to play Magic in middle school. Good times 😁
Trump, Hearts, and we played a lot of Mah Jong too.
🤙

A card games club would have been great when I was younger. We could have learned new games and held tournaments. So many good times playing cards.

We used to play rummy and keep score. That or hanafuda 😆

Don't forget Hanafuda! 🙂 or Karuta in Japan ( though that encompases a lot of card games).
Fun video! I remember Hanafuda a lot back in small kid time and rich man poor man too…good times

I haven't heard of golf, but I'll check it out.
wow what a trip down memory lane lol. I forgot about all the card games we played, in my opinion, much better than staring at a screen!
The best was Speed
Flip 2 cards and one at a time put in order
Yes to all these games! Played team trumps the most, but my favorite was Kemps!

I'm trying to remember that game. Not sure if we played it amongst my friends.
🎉
Wait! No Paiute!? Aue! 🤦🏻♂️
We played that too, but tried to keep the list short.
Cool 🧡🙏🏼
