Props for giving props for El-P ✌ Loved his music even before Run The Jewels and back in the day talked about him to my tattooer/friend and he introdused me to Company Flow. He is great, glad that he finally popped off when he was about to quit because his stuff wasn't clicking with people. His solo albums are really great but more for niche audience than Run The Jewels.

EL-P beats never fail tho even if the lyrics aren't cutting as deep. His style was/is a bit Aesop Rocky in terms of how he writes and it is fun to uncover the lyrics but it isn't for many, I was kinda suprised when Aesop even popped a bit.

Mac is underrated, but nobody was terrified of mac. Mac didn't drop bars, he made good songs though, this is why someone like mac never lived in shady's shadow, because he forged his own lane, he was goofy ,emotional, etc, but bars? Nobody was scared of him. Look at his billboard chart, all his hits were from 2012, he had one hit in 2013 with Ari and his final hit was 2018 after he died. Most people forgot about my man, that's why nobody mentioned him in discussions of 'the best' and why many today still don't yet they call him a 'legend'. Its all fake. That's what failed musicians like Yelawolf do. Attack fellow musicians who have had more success. Try and categorize everything by micro-genre and claim some sort of ownership/higher knowledge of what is and isn't, to validate their existence while the fanboy soldiers follow suit on social media.
I first got into rap and hip hop around age 11 with Cannibal Ox and El-P. Never liked hip hop until I found DefJux records. Real cool to hear him speak about El-P as an early influence too.
