I know this might be old but the regedit method saved me a bunch, can’t thank you enough
Had this problem for long time , did everything instructed and the problem resolved . Thank you
As with some of the others, your last suggestion worked for me. I felt intense joy when that last shut down was a true SHUT DOWN. Thanks for your incredible tip.
Thanks man. It worked. I had been struggling for a long time. God bless you. In the words of my grade 1 teacher, “you’re a star”
Hey buddy thanks for this fix! 2 years later and best solutions to actually fix the problem. Thank you sir!
I don’t need it yet but I know in the future I will do. Thank you for preventing yet another headache that I would have had.
You're welcome.
It's 2021, and the update won't let me shut my PC. It feels like Bill Gates is controlling my PC.
@@Britec09 sir it didn't wroked in my case if you can help plz reply urgently
wow, you are amazing! THANK YOU, it was driving me nuts! that regedit fixed it. You are a Hero!
Changing the one registry value from 0 to 1 did the trick for me... cheers for that. I would have never found that on my own.
Thanks Brian! The regedit fixed my Windows 10 PC - for a while - until the next Windows 10 update caused the problem to return. Then tried Troubleshoot Power and that has worked okay.
So hoping it stays okay and powers down after the next Windows 10 update!
THANK YOU MAN! Seems that my problem was the registry, so I changed it like you instructed. I wasn't getting automatically logged on like you did, but the PC would immediately restart after choosing 'Shut down'. Effectively making it same as restart. 1.05.20
Dude speech and straight to the solution it’s a rarity on here awesome vid bud
I just gave this the 1000th like. This just happened to me on my ThinkPad and it worked on the last step. Your video was linked to the help section i tried. I was elated when I clicked on the link and you popped up. Been a fan of your videos for a long time. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Wow man thank you so much!! The last step worked for me! My pc kept booting up right after I shut it down and your solution fixed it!!
Changing power settings and turning off the restart tick mark fixed my issue. Thank you for making this video!
Thanks for the video my desktop started doing this yesterday but on following you advice now it is shutting down fine again, thanks again.
Thanks! This solution worked great at the last step. Don't know how my Dell Inspiron got off course but changing the power button setting back to shut down worked.
worked like a charm. I followed all the solutions and then did a restart so not really sure which solution was effective. Thanks!!
I'd watched many videos and tried many methods but all in vain, And this amazing stuff saved me. Thanks a lot man.
Tried a few different website's solutions and got nowhere! Glad I found this video because the last one at the end of the video did the track for me. Power and Sleep settings
Last thing worked. This problem occurred out of nowhere. I spent the past two hours trying to figure the solution. Thank you
thank you for your help. the video helped me with an issue after i down loaded the new windows update 1903. i never had the problem before where my computer would turn back on when i wanted it to turn off.
That last option worked. I read a lot of tips but this video solved my problem. Thanks a bunch.
The last stepp fixed my issue. Thanks a lot !!! Have my like good Sir
Hi Again Brian, the first option want available, I tried all the others, the last one seemed to have cured it, none of the others had any effect...so far so good lol thanks from Fred in Essex.
The last hint, turning off fast startup worked for me. Thank YOU!
It is bit different in Windows 11, but I did settings as you instructed. And finally it worked. Thanks brother!!
Tried everything then I discovered this video. Great tips it worked for me thank you.

Wow thank you I have two network adapters and both had that second option on. This was so annoying I had to keep holding down the power button to shut it down lol now I can finally just do it threw the menu thank you so much man.
this fixed my problem thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏
Even after 4 yrs thank u so much i was so stressed.
earned a sub
Last trick worked. It worked!! Thanks a million.
Thank you good sir! Changing the registry to power down after shutdown worked for me... But I read somewhere (I think PC Mag or something) that if the PC boots down but actually is crashing on bootdown that the system automatically is restarting. Is this fix just masking a possible underlying issue? Thanks again!
thank you !!!
i just had this probleme after a new update from windows 10 that i just installed
after all these settings it still wasnt fixed so i just turned it off by hitting the switch on the power supply and that fixed it :p
Worked for me, fixed the problem
Thanks!
Thank you! This was helpful.
Tried everything, but never thought about Troubleshoot.
This one worked for me!

This happens in windows 7 too
The final option solved it for me! Thank you!
I don’t know which one fixed it because I tried them all but it’s fixed! Thank you!!! You’re amazing!!!
Hello Brian! I was going through your instructions one by one, and nothing worked (and was feeling like ups... I've got a unique case) right until final option (power & sleep) that resolved an issue. And I was like uff )) Thanks for that! Subscribed.
Yeah same here.
Great Advice Bri, But the video ends a bit abruptly, I had this shutdown problem yesterday after the third restart it resolved its self, if it happens again I will check the settings you mention. Thanks for the info.
Yeah I missed the ending of the video lol must be getting old or the beer was kicking in lol
Thanks dude now I can finally sleep
You're telling me
OMG thank you for this video!! In 2021 still works it just fixed my problem using the last option, my power button was set to sleep instead of shut down lol if ur having this problem i vouch for you to follow this video 😎👌
the reg edit change seems to work for me on a asus q504u windows 10. i checked this registry setting on another machine and it too was set the same way, yet it doesnt have this power problem, cuirous. thanks for the video. i wish more USA youtubers created content like you guys, referring to the lack of edm music, some dumb into animation and speaking clearly!!

Indeed, it worked for me too!
Thanks britec09. i tried every step separately and checked. when that step is not worked i gone to other step. Finally disable the " TURN ON FAST STARTUP" is worked perfect. Registry and other settings are not worked. If any one is suffering with this problem first try with " " TURN ON FAST STARTUP". Once again thanks my dear friend. I happily subscribed your channel.

You saved me . It’s 2020 and still working for the latest version
Thanks ! I know I'm really late, but this helped !
THANKS!!!! The first step solved my issue 🤗
Much appreciated for your helpful video!
Thanks Brian. This problem appeared out of nowhere yesterday. The last suggestion (changing shutdown to really shutting down the laptop and eliminating fast startup) did the trick.
I don't know why the issue happened, during yesterday I turned off Windows updates until 12th October (the day after the next "patch" Tuesday) - so maybe that threw a spanner in the works. I've now returned updates to automatic.....
Glad I could help grant
That last option worked for me man appreciate deserves a follow
Muchas gracias. Hace meses que me tenía como loco este problema y el método del regedit lo resolvió!
The first step worked! Thank you! :D

Thanks, I did all of them at the same time and after I restart and try to shutdown the pc, it works.

The last setting works best, in fact for rugged and stubborn PC adopt it. I will even advise you to go to it straight instead of toying with those formers. Thanks for video it works best.

Thank you so much! Cheers mate
Thanks Britec09 for your helpful video , but it didn't solved my issue. one thing i noted is under "Hardware and sound -->power option-->system settings --> i removed tick mark / selection from Turn on fast startup (recommended) and then when tried to shutdown my restarted and i checked again and seen the tick mark that i removed earlier has been selected again" (not sure why)
Registry setting that you recommended was unchanged. Can you help me with my issue.
Thank you. I have had a problem with my desktop for a number of years. It shuts down but the internal fans keep spinning. My answer has been to disconnect the power supply once the monitor turns off. Following your regedit command ...winlogon/powerdownaftershutdown was set to 0. I reset it to 1 and my machine is turning off properly. Thanks again, s.
You're welcome.
Apologies... It did turn off after I changed it. On rebooting a second time just to check -after I sent you the above, it turned back to its old way. Back to pulling out the power cable. Thank you anyway. All the best. s.
Sounds like a Motherboard issue or PSU issue or some sort of cabling issue. Very hard to tell without looking at the computer but that's where I would start. Its a process of elimination.
Strangely when I use a linux OS from a Bootable USB it shuts down as it should. It is an old motherboard so I will cope. Best wishes, s.
Last one helped me thanks a lot!!!
Thanks. The register edit worked for me.
Thanks mate, appreciate that 🍻 🍻 🍻
