I have preserved some very strange things in the past, mixed media experiments etc. and I have found that even before I got interested in soft pastels the spray fixative used works really good! It can darken your artwork just a bit. I have also used “mod podge” in the past and you can use the matt or glossy just make sure your original art is dry before you apply the sealer and it will last and last and last!
"Painting With" video ideas (some of which may or may not have already been added to Kasey's personal list): -Pepto Bismol -Mud -Children's liquid medicines (the kinds with added colouring) -Condiments, together or separately (ketchup, mustard, mayo, hot sauce, etc.) -Wasabi -Broth and/or stocks -Nut butter -Juice -Liquid soap
Hi Kasey I love your videos. Your art is so cute and your voice is super soothing to listen to! You inspired me to start painting with watercolors and tho I don't have experience and still make those "rookie mistakes", your videos help me a lot! Thank you so much hope you're having a great time in Japan!
You should look into natural dyes derived from plants and trying to use it as a watercolor. For example if you boil avocado pits and skins you get a beautiful pink and if you boil onion skins you get a lovely mustard yellow.
You should paint with juice next! Or some of the crazy Japanese sodas! Or ice cream! OOH! Create art only using foods/drinks from those weird vending machines
Painting with suggestions: Jam Hot Sauce Butter (more of an intaglio than painting) Beets (both red and golden) Vegetables in general Soft cheeses (the mold would be interesting😈) Curry Alcohol ( a mix of champagne, brandy, absinthe, wine, etc.)
Hey, i would love to see a piece made with as many colors as you can find! Maybe red tea or beet juice, wheat grass juice, turmeric water, balsamic vinegar? Maybe try red cabbage juice, it turns blue but you can get a great gradient by using lemon juice (it goes from blue/purple to bright pink on contact, like that blue flower tea)
I loved your video! It got me thinking about other things you could use. My mind went to spices. I know turmeric is used to enhance food colors, I'm sure color could be extracted from other spices that are not typically used. Cilantro seems it might work.
Hey Kasey if you want to preserve your piece, covering it in clear varnish is a way to do it. Varnish can come in a spray and it's clear and RUclipsrs like Moriah Elizabeth use it to protect their artwork. You can look it up if you want to know more of the effects.
I love any Japanese noodles! Udon especially! This is awesome! I love your channel, and I love Japan (hoping I can go there in April, Coronavirus might prevent the trip!)
would some kind of sealant keep the chocolate and soy sauce from rotting? there are some plastic vacuum sealers for paper/pictures maybe that would work?
3:50 Laugh all you want, but that’s literally what happened during my first (and last) day at work in a sushi restaurant. Yup, felt a lot like a cartoon character.
Next time you should try to draw with OlL, i know its not the best to be melt with water... But you could use different kinds of oil, such as olive, sunflower... Love ur art♥️♥️♥️
I think that soy sauce painting will keep very well. Never experienced just normal pure soy sauce molding in any way. You can keep soy sauce in a open container at room temp for years, and it will be fine just slowly evaporate. So dried soy sauce stains, should keep even better than that. Most of the sugars should have fermented away, and the high salt content kills most things. Dried soy sauce will probably be fine forever. Pigment shouldn't change with oxidation either. How lightfast it is however or how much the smell will rub off/how strong and for how long that I have no clue.
“..I just felt like it [soy sauce] was going to be the most disgusting ~painting with~ video.” 🤔 s-so painting with *your own blood* wasn’t the worst one??! 🩸💉
So when you decide to use organic or liquids meant for consumption is there a posibility of it getting bad once fully dried or do these kinds of drawings start to reek after sometime so you have to trow em out🤔
When I was in Japan, DAISO had some self-laminating supplies (essentially big clear thick stickers) and I used that to laminate a bunch of stuff... you could give that a try!!
You could try painting with lemon juice and reveal the secret painting over a flame. Would that be fun or too hard to paint something you can't properly see till the end?
Hi Kasey im not sure if you will see this, but you are an amazing artist and my biggest inspiration you helped me out with my worst times and you are very funny and just a great person in general! Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Try drawing with different kinds of fruit. Blue Berries Strawberries, Mangos, Oranges, Lemons, Limes, Raspberries are probably the best choices I think.
Mmm, sushi...😍 Nigiri is my thing. Anything in Tempura batter is a hit too. 😊 I wonder if the salt content had anything to do with tones not bleeding into eachother? I wonder if diluting watercolour with salt water has the same effect. 🤔 Next time, paint on rice paper so you can eat it! 😁
Just be careful with the amount of medium you have in your brush. And get a brush that can give you the thickness you want. Practice will make your hand more steady
Hey Kasey! Did you know that there actually is such thing as a Banana Shrimp? So, your dude slipping on the shrimp makes sense after all! Lots of love from the North East of the UK!!♡♡x
Kasey, you should try painting with eggs! You can make legit paint with eggyoked, water, vinegar and pigments. It wont mold eighter, because the vinegar is preventing it
Idk if you’re still in japan but if you can do a painting with chocolate kitkat eddition? Since kitkats come in so many colors there? you could melt off the chocolate and use it as paint?
commercial soy sauce stays good practically forever even in an open container at room temp (or warmer we keep a gallon in our kitchen, which has no A/C, year round) so it shouldn't mold
Please do a Sationary/Art Store tour ❤️ I bet a lot of us really wanna se how the stores are there in Japan! I'll be traveling soon to Tokyo and want to be prepared (and prepare my wallet as well lol)
Has anyone suggested wasabi yet? You could also paint with wasabi. I couldn't because I put everything in my mouth all the time, especially my watercolour, so I'd just be really burned all the way through
Indeed @@curlyemmm1232 but I meant it when I said everything. I have a smol baby and before I use any new product on her I first put it in my mouth - if it burns, numbs or some other negative reaction I either don't use it on her or stay away from her face with it. I also smell everything I touch but that's synesthesia

how on earth is she able to do the tiny details with that fat brush?
answer: PURE TALENT
Please laminate them! Theyre great pictures and I imagine if you laminate them, they'll at least last longer than if you dont
You must not know how paper works.
@@xCheeseHead95x ik how paper works, its more how the soy sauce works, thanks for that unnecessary comment tho

Kasey’s reasoning for everything: “Cause why not?”
Hey Kasey what sketching tool do you use in procreate?
Hows it going with the sicknesses in japan? I hope your ok and your holding though!

Cast it in resin to preserve it it’ll give a nice finish and the soy won’t potentially rot or mold

this is really random but how do you keep your lineart so thin with a brush 😱😱 do you have any tips for having a steady and thin line?
Just be careful with the amount of medium you have in your brush. And get a brush that can give you the thickness you want. Practice will make your hand more steady

KASEY! I know it's late but would it be possible to boil vegetables and use the pigment from them to pain with?!
maybe try to put a clear glaze on top of the drawing? it will make him shiny but i think it will preserve him for a while!! :D
Maybe get an clear acrylic spray? Like the kind used for DnD minatures and spray it over the whole page.
“sushi server slipping on shrimp”
wow, try to say that 5 times fast!
Kasey...calm down...
(This is just a dumb ironic joke, please keep up this fun exciting series! We love it! :3)
