My team is already extremely versed in UE5. If the SDK is restricted, we should be able to unlock full development fairly easily. If we can port games from Unity to UE5, we can make open world co-op a thing. My Anomaly Conversion focuses on milsim realism, with heavy RTS aspects (fully custom Warfare, not the standard Warfare overhaul) so i also plan on doing the same thing with Stalker 2. Milsim survival, with hints of RTS. I want players to be able to work together, or join different factions and fight for resources, territory, strategic locations, and bases... Might take us a year or two, but we'll have enough multiplayer modes to make sure everyone has a place to call home ❤️

Uncle got me into Arma Cold War and diablo 2 modding at that age, i went on to Unreal Tournament, Arma 2, Fallout 3/NV, DayZ SA/Arma3, Chernobylite, and now, Stalker Anomaly. I've worked on multiple unreal projects with various teams over the last 10 years, so i feel confident in my ability to jump back into Unreal modding and hit the road running. If i cant figure something out, I know people that can. My goal with S2 will primarily be milsim survival, but given the multiplayer confirmation... I can't help but want to dive into that and provide the playerbase with the modes they want.
stalker coop is a dream that every stalker dreamt of in their sleep at least once. its not about the game being scary. just imagine playing this mod with your friend. your friend does a deal with some bandits, getting trapped. and you get the quest to save him. stuff like this could be put all over the game. just the thought of sitting together at a campfire.... hope a coop mod will come soom
Honestly with the framework of multiplayer there's going to be so many mods. I really think this game is going to blow wide open with the modded community.
My team is already planning on starting a co-op overhaul as soon as the SDK and multiplayer releases. We will increase difficulty and life in the zone to compensate for the extra player. Game dialog can be rewritten slightly to make the second player feel like more than just a side kick.. either way, Skif will be main, and he will have a less important friend. Main Issue will be cutscenes
I'm also curious what multiplayer will be like because if its a generic shooter that is kind of boring but if its like Tarkov or something where NPCs and monsters are involved it could be really good. It could also be like planetside where you choose a faction like Duty, Freedom etc and then you fight for control of areas of the map.

I know we are all tired of extraction shooters BUT a stalker extraction mode would be fire in my opinion. Tarkov but more atmospheric. Tasks from the traders in game, while artifacts would be the profit motivation just like for stalkers. I think it would tie in single player and multiplayer very nicely.
This is a great point. Considering Tarkov devs took MASSIVE inspiration from the Stalker series, it would fit well and could be implemented pretty easily, I'd imagine.
I'm the first to hate on studios forcing popular game modes onto their games but man, i really think an extraction gamemode would work so well in stalker 2
PvP play was well implemented in Stalker Call of Pripyat. There were 3 modes - Deathmatch, team against another team and Artifact Hunt. I spent about 200 hours in the PvP game in 2009-10, my favorite map was Fire Station
honestly rather than traditional TDM PvP mode, Rust/DayZ type of survival mode in the Zone would be so interesting. you can be a nobody, assigned into one of the factions and try to simulate the Zone with other players
ALL they need to do is allow coop in the same world. Allow people to join their friends on a map, up to 3 people would be fine, and allow them to progress through the story together. I mean the map is large enough, the world is dense enough and the enemies are hard enough that it would NOT take very much extra work AT ALL. In fact, it MIGHT even make the gameplay HARDER for the player if they then had to SHARE resources between 2 or 3 people.
STALKER co-op makes all the sense in the world to be honest. Sure, not for story content that's supposed to be scary/tense- but for repeatable, free roam side missions? It would add a lot.
I think letting mod makers make the Co-Op mode will be good enough, as long as GSC Game World can have the mod tools have access to the multiplayer code. Then mod makers can work with the game and make a "story" that fits the open world with small group of stalkers doing what stalkers do. Hopefully mod makers are able to do what they were with the first games, and build upon each others work.
It's very easy only the host can adjust things in the game the second player just gets the update from what player one did, now you don't have to worry about getting two players controlling one world, which means less code it would be more a exploration feature for the second player however you can still enjoy the world together. I really vote for Coop games it can bring you a other level of joy and since the game support mods, we got a chance to create a multiplayer feature for this game
I just hope they bring co op to xbox. They could make it so you have to beat the base game before accessing it too so you get the full experience before jumping into multi-player. Id love to play with friends.
stalker coop would be the ultimate stalker, sure it would be less scary, but way more memorable, a lot more replayabilty and fun... there been so many times where in coop the game just became a lot more fun
There’s a lot they could do with multiplayer to make it stand out from the crowd. Instead of bog-standard basic stuff like Team Deathmatch, maybe go for a PvPvE extraction game mode. Something to compete in the Tarkov vein, but with STALKER’s world. Anomalies, mutants, NPCs, and other players to contend with over missions, loot, and artifacts. I think that would be really cool and it’s a lot more fitting for this type of game than simple and boring COD style multiplayer modes. This would be great streaming content too. As for the co-op thing, I don’t think it would be so bad. The STALKER experience would still be there, only you play the game absent the story mode with generic characters. Could also be great for streaming content. Streaming, of course, is free publicity for the game.
So long as the multiplayer component is at least part of the game code, im sure modders will come together to create a fantastic coop experience. I do feel like a coop mod in the vein of an open ended anomaly like game world would work best.
The only thing I remember about the OG STALKER multiplayer was only being able to find one busted server consistently, and it was somewhere in South America so I'd just get murdered by dudes skipping all over the map
I am glad it's PvP mode. People will mod other multiplayer modes in. Be cool to have self hosted servers too. Allow for some fun plugins and conversions.
Stalker as a setting is ripe for an extraction shooter. Ik people say its oversaturated but depending on how they do it it could be neat between the anomalies, factions, and possibly not even encouraging pvp just merely having it as an option
I think the psy helmet could act as a means to "balance" certain missions. If the calibrated psy helm could only be given to the single player host, but allow the partial calibrated helms for online friends, the devs could allow friends to head to the psy locked zones, but would very likely die if they tried to rush a mission similar to the Scortcher.
People here expecting a survival mode like DayZ/extraction shooter like Tarkov lol It'll be just deatchmatch, domination and Capture the artefact, multiplayer is not really a main focus in stalker games Its just a fun extra mode, their full focus is on the singleplayer.

As a S.T.A.L.K.E.R you would be forced to always begin and survive by yourself in the lore of the world. But this is the thing, I don't think they will strictly 'stop' or 'restrict' that type of gameplay..... But I think it will force you to have to, quite literally, take a chance in attempting to team up with another player via PvP. In a truly ORGANIC way... we all will have to rely on our gut, on seeing if maybe, just maybe another player out there might not pull the trigger before you call out across the battlefield for a truce, and maybe even a temporary partnership. Amd just like that, two lonely S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'S have formed a random encounter, no green names above their heads, just a mutual, verbal agreement, within the lonely dark world, that is the zone. Who knows how long it could last, and how long it may take before either one of your lives are cut short, and only one of you will have the tale left to tell, at a safe zone fire, among other PvP stalkers, who have had similiar, or maybe not so similiar experiences. I truly, and genuinely believe, that this sort of thesis could work so well, to the point, it just encapsulates the Zone and Surviving elements, of the game so well, that it could just be that little cherry on top. 🍒 Let me know what you think, because I honestly think this could be the only way it can work for multiplayer, in the way that they've specified, and in a way that accommodates the very nature of S.T.A.L.K.E.R to perfection. (That is if they incorporate a Free Roam mode or a server based like DayZ where everybody is just doing their own Online progression mode, that could have its entirely own experience different to Single player with A.I)

Co-op would be cool but it would also be so much easier also less intense and scary. Its not STALKER if you just revive your buddy and don't get your ass handed to you a few times. It would also give you a much larger amount of loot to be gained with two backpacks.
If you see what Stalcraft X does. One it allows co-op. two, when you do a quest mode you go in solo to get that solo feeling you described. This it doesn’t work the experience you spoke about.
I really hope its not tdm or free for all as that would just be pointless. No one wants that anymore. If they released an extraction mode however, I could see it being the most played game on consoles. The environment and gunplay is perfect for an extraction game mode.

HOWEVER: the game is on unreal, which is very likely to be much much easier to mod so we'll likely see a coop mod or somethin akin to this perhaps

Saying that they don't want to add co-op because its supposed to be a solo experience is literally a cop out. You make the game you don't tell me how I am allowed to enjoy it. I can tell you right now there is a massive amount of people who were going to get the game that are now definitely not. I play games to have fun with friends not to seclude myself from people more. The game looked fun and I was very interested until they said no co-op from us ever, if one comes it will be a mod. I am not a fan of companies making players fix their shit decisions. No money from me.
People might hate me for this but what about just open world muiltiplayer similar to dayz just many people in the zone that could team up or kill anyone who they come in contact with I think that would be dope
It will probably be as shit as the Multi for the original trilogy, waiting for Modders to hop on COOP. There is alot of COOP mods being developed for the Original trilogy like STALKER BELARUS, Ray Of Hope and xrMPE , waiting for those to be polished in the coming years.
Yeah, I doubt a stalker co op campaign would've worked with so much gone into developing a singleplayer experience. It's not as easy as just "allow another 1-3 players to just join your game", they'd have to rethink the entire gameplay loop to account for resource sharing, game difficulty and balancing it for solo/co-op play depending on player count. It'd have to be yet another reason to scrap the current build and start over with yet another 5 years of development with the game not coming out.
The exact game that should be an extraction shooter.. the modders will go nuts with this and i cant wait to see them unleash all their creativty with new tools!

The good news, is that it will have multiplayer net code added and created officialy, making a co-op mod much more of a reality to acheive by modders

HOWEVER: the game is on unreal, which is very likely to be much much easier to mod so we'll likely see a coop mod or somethin akin to this perhaps
@fortieznoshortiez yeah hopefully since Epic already show us that Unreal Engine games could be modded to be different games, they use Fortnite as example.
So we only could hope modders make Stalker 2 to be interesting game like Stalker Anomaly
i hope they make like raid a base with boss battle or special mechanic type not just normal pvp, but underground ranking stalker tourney vs other stalker or mutant is good too

Saying that they don't want to add co-op because its supposed to be a solo experience is literally a cop out. You make the game you don't tell me how I am allowed to enjoy it. I can tell you right now there is a massive amount of people who were going to get the game that are now definitely not. I play games to have fun with friends not to seclude myself from people more. The game looked fun and I was very interested until they said no co-op from us ever, if one comes it will be a mod. I am not a fan of companies making players fix their shit decisions. No money from me.
Stalker had PVP which worked but it was jank bc the gunplay of old stalker was jank so with this game it seems like it could be dope
People might hate me for this but what about just open world muiltiplayer similar to dayz just many people in the zone that could team up or kill anyone who they come in contact with I think that would be dope

It will probably be as shit as the Multi for the original trilogy, waiting for Modders to hop on COOP. There is alot of COOP mods being developed for the Original trilogy like STALKER BELARUS, Ray Of Hope and xrMPE , waiting for those to be polished in the coming years.

Yeah, I doubt a stalker co op campaign would've worked with so much gone into developing a singleplayer experience. It's not as easy as just "allow another 1-3 players to just join your game", they'd have to rethink the entire gameplay loop to account for resource sharing, game difficulty and balancing it for solo/co-op play depending on player count. It'd have to be yet another reason to scrap the current build and start over with yet another 5 years of development with the game not coming out.

Listen, people just want Stalcraft but within the actual STALKER IP and gameplay realism. Coop in the open world ain't that tall of an ask.
