I’d rather wait 20 months between videos again, but the reconstructions as accurate as possible given the wreckage, than have more regular videos and and a “looks OK to me” reconstruction. This series shines by trying to reconcile what survives with how it might have been made, and that opens the door for even more discoveries in the future.

Actually so we're the calendars of most other ancient people's that I am aware of. Unless you're the only one with a key to your work shed there's no point cleaning it out. Usually, "Her indoors" sees empty storage space as an incentive to find something to fill it with. :(
I've got a little 1 car garage sized "Man cave" workshop, But it's had literally TONS of junk abandoned in it for years now. I cracked last week and decided I wanted to clear it out and organise it enough to be able to do simple DIY projects and do servicing on the car myself again without having to spend 3 hours digging through stacks of junk to get to everything I needed first. As it was, even if I COULD find the tools I needed, there was no actual free space to do any work in there, and one stray grinding or welding spark could have smouldered in the mountain of avalanched household junk for hours before finally catching light and burning the place to the ground !
I've took 4 full trailer loads of household crap to the recycling centre so far. I've found the welding equipment I haven't been able to get to in an age, I've been reunited with my lathe that had boxes piled all around and on top of it, and unearthed toolboxes I couldn't find when I needed them. I've been busting a gut all week trying to get my workshop into a usable state again, and I'm finally starting to see some progress........ But yesterday I got asked if I thought I'd have it cleared out before next weekend? I asked why it mattered how long it takes me to "Excavate" my workshop (I was expecting to be asked to fix something once my "Man cave" was usable again), But she said that one of her friends is moving house and she needs somewhere to store stuff for a few months !!!!! I said "How does "Not happening" sound?!!" and told her they can pay the £30 a week I had to back when I needed to rent a storage unit. Most of the crap I've already clear out of my workshop is from when one of her other friends moved over 5 friggin' years ago !!!!! I'd told her several times over a year back that I needed it collecting ASAP or I'll have to get rid of it myself, but nothing ever got taken, So I'm feeling that I'm quite justified about finally dumping her abandoned crap....... And now I'm being asked to allow ANOTHER of her friends to do the same?!?!?!

This is honestly one of the most thorough build projects that I know off to be fair.
Not only does it showcase some astonishing craftsmanship, but it also highlights the capabilities that once existed so far back in time.
The Antikythera mechanism is a rather complicated device for what is expected of its time.
At times it makes me wonder, what if this type of technology weren't lost.
What if it continued on and how would that have changed the world we live in today?
Considering that some of the mechanical details and general finess showcased in the mechanism is easily a thousand years ahead of its time. Wouldn't have been unrealistic for an industrial revolution to have happened far earlier than it actually did.
