I was about to go off in the comments over the title, but then I listened to the introduction of this video lol 😂 I concur: if your heart is set on a Submariner, there is *no* alternative. Everything worth having requires pain, hard work, and patience. Happy hiconsumption and team made this clear.
I own the Lorier for 6 months now and it looks better in real life than video. It never left my wrist, I really like the distortion effect of the acrylic dome.
I own a Casio Duro myself, and it's one of the best watches I ever spent my money on. I absolutely love it. When I discovered NATO straps, I bought them for my watch and it made the wearing experience even better 💯hopefully one day I can own a Seiko or Citizen diver 🤞
All are great picks. I sold my 14060 Sub and bought a BB58 and a Speedmaster Pro. For me, Rolex isn’t worth owning anymore when there are so many great options available.
I started out looking for Rolex submariner alternatives when searching for my first watch. I ended up getting a mido ocean star 200c titanium and fell so much in love with both the waves on the dial and the lightweight titanium case and bracelet, that I don’t think I will feel the need to go for a submariner anymore. At least not as long as my ocean star doesn’t break or get stolen. Great video though, some great alternatives, especially the certina.
If you've got the budget for a sub, i strongly suggest looking at the Glashutte SeaQ (the smaller one) . After a discount they're the same price (or it's cheaper secondary). Better Finishing Better bracelet Now comes with an exhibition caseback with a movement no rolex can match More colors Won't attract thieves Obviously if your heart is set on a sub, then it's set on a sub, but for me, after trying on a Seaq, i just can't want a sub anymore.
I bought my first (and last) dive watch last year, the Seiko spb149. As someone who has at times admired the submariner and Pelagos, the second the seiko was on my wrist, it really felt right. Thank God I prefer a €1k watch to the luxury alternatives.
I got the Quartz version of the Timex Deepwater. I liked the wave dial and no date better than the titanium version. Plus only 200 dollars was a nice bonus. Great watch. The strap is a little funky but once it's on its super comfortable.
Could you do a women's alternative list for the Rolex Submariner? The video could be a good idea for gifts, or a new audience for videos. Perhaps even a list of some "matching" options for couples (a good list for end of January for Valentine's Day gift options). Tia!
There are some solid recommendations here. It's funny hearing that Timex described as large, when it's 41mm like the pretty middle sized Submariner. The Duro before that is actually large though. The Certina is cool, though I wish they had some additional color options. The also have a 38mm model in both titanium and steel, for those with smaller wrists or preferences. It would be a tough call between the Tissot and Seiko for me, as the Black Bay 54 looks like a toy on me.
A very nice selection of dive watches! All good choices. You do not have to be a millionaire - or buy chinese c*ap - to get a decent, respectable diver. Casio specially is unbelievable value. This video had the killer-look Marlin issue, but it looks awesome without the fish too. Personally Iwould have added Orient diver to the very budget end. A genuine japanese automatic with inhouse mechanism. Tissot also makes diver model 1000 with accurate quartz mechanism - more affordable than powermatic. Longines Hydroconquest is good choise in the 1000+ pricepoint.
I got my BB58 gilt AFTER acquiring the Sub. They just cannot substitute with each other. I scream happy every morning cuz I cant decide which one to wear!
I'm satisfied with my alternative. Getting a watch for 9 grand seems silly to me...unless you're really loaded and can afford such superfluous expenditures. Otherwise my budget of 1500 or less has supplied me with a nice collection of watches.
In order to find an alternative, you have to like the alternative and it has to go at least 95% of the way or it offers a story that the submariner does not particularly offer. there are slightly cheaper and more expensive alternatives that are better.
I like submariner but I hate the business model so sense I will never afford it and they will never sell me one anyway, I'm a Rolex hater. Said that I also dislike Tudor because they give us this for 3-4 K so we think we accomplish something. I think most of Tudor owners still wishing for Rolex at some point. For me: I would buy every watch on your video and those from commends, get like 50 more straps and would have more fun with all of those watches. I still think what Submariner did to watch industry can't be forgotten but what they do now is what I dislike.
Timex is an homage watch so that should have opened the door to other homages as well like the invicta pro diver, the Steinhart watches or even the San Martin watches. It is funny how some brands get roasted for homages and others get a pass.
@ Hello there, it sits very high. But that is not the main point. The lume is too weak for a dive watch (at least on mine) and the bezel is a disaster. It sits so lose that you are always surprised about it’s position when you look the next time. I’m talking about my personal watch which was built in 2022. Maybe I got the only one that is so bad but I can’t recommend it. For 700 euros you should get something better. I have tons of dive watches and the Tissot is the worst of them. If you want to buy one, I recommend to check it out at a local dealer. Unfortunately I bought mine online during COVID 19 and I regret it.
Not sure any of these are really subs for a Sub, but it was a lineup of really nice, affordable dive watches. For a Submariner alternative, I’d suggest looking at Monta.
Lorier would be a great watch if it had a sapphire crystal. Without it, this watch is a joke. Therefore, if someone likes the Lorier but, like me, can't understand why it doesn't have a sapphire crystal they should choose the BALTIC Aquascaphe Classic.
Why is it a joke? It's based on vintage design that uses acrylic crystal. They're actually better for tool watches technically as they don't shatter like Sapphire crystal can.
It’s definitely not a joke. They’re actually being faithful to the vintage aesthetic & design. Besides that, hesalite has objectively better qualities over sapphire - the primary being that it’s harder to shatter, but it’s also less reflective. I bought a different vintage style watch after my Lorier and hardly wear it because the sapphire crystal looks much worse to me. If I’m buying a watch for vintage aesthetics I want it to be true to that.
I cannot believe the invicta pro diver is not on this. Yeah it is kinda lame ( i love mine tbh had it for years and beat the hell out of it) but it is a watch that many, many people get their start on.
The one thing I don't understand is why Seiko fanboys get so upset when you refer to them as Fake-ariners, Faketonas and Fakexplorers. I mean the brands aren't trying to hide the fact that they are copying the Rolex design and selling a cheaper product.
I own that exact Certina and I can confirm that it hasn’t left my wrist in over a year. What a watch!
The Lorier Neptune really caught my eye, albeit a bit costly for my Duro wearing wrist!
Got the Duro for Christmas and can confirm it is as incredible as everyone says!
Same here, just change the strap to a metal one and it's beautiful

If you prefer a vintage look the Tudor is better. Altho I agree get what you want or you’ll just end up getting it later anyway.
My diver one is a Tissot Sea Star 1000 grey dial!
AMAZING watch! I just installed the a grey Sailcloth strap , and the watch is more beautiful !!!
I own the Lorier for 6 months now and it looks better in real life than video. It never left my wrist, I really like the distortion effect of the acrylic dome.
that Certina is the business

I have one too and agree with you.

The most beautiful and at the same time simple and pleasant to the eye...this is Tissot! Very nice arrows and marks.
I got the Quartz version of the Timex Deepwater. I liked the wave dial and no date better than the titanium version. Plus only 200 dollars was a nice bonus. Great watch. The strap is a little funky but once it's on its super comfortable.
Solid video, keep up the good work
I got the Squale 1545 homage. Highly recommend.
That seiko looks amazing...
That's my favorite seiko model ever... its so sharp looking..

Why Longines Hydroconquest is not on the list
Timex is really building momentum and finally producing some worthwhile pieces especially their divers. Certina for me though.
There are some solid recommendations here. It's funny hearing that Timex described as large, when it's 41mm like the pretty middle sized Submariner. The Duro before that is actually large though. Orient ray 2 deserves a mention!
Orient Ray ❤Citizen ny40 promaster❤

I believe the Casio Duro is made in China.😅 And as an owner, I don't mind it. It's well-made, same as many things that come from there.
That Lorier is gorgeous.
Put the Duro on a nice bracelet and its stupidly good!
I got my BB58 gilt AFTER acquiring the Sub. They just cannot substitute with each other. I scream happy every morning cuz I cant decide which one to wear!
Good stuff. TY
I love my seiko spb143
The fish on the Duro isn't a marlin. It's a swordfish.
Take a closer look.
Best Rolex Sub alternative is a 1980s Tudor Sub! 😊
Certina…with Titanium, Ceramic Bezel and fantastic movement is the bast
That guy needs to get a manicure my goodness LOL
SPB143 so classy
I'm satisfied with my alternative. Getting a watch for 9 grand seems silly to me...unless you're really loaded and can afford such superfluous expenditures. Otherwise my budget of 1500 or less has supplied me with a nice collection of watches.
That Timex Titanium is almost always sold out.
Tudor isn't a rolex alternative it's a tudor
Sub is a no date. The OG at least.
J’ai deja eu une Rolex par le biais de la societé de ma conjointe : trop lourde trop cher en entretien on l’a vendu assez rapidement mais on a perdu en valeur mais c’était pour des amis d’amis…

I absolutely hate tudor, the sharp caseback on black bay and pelagos is a torture tool
the timex sure looks like it does NOT have lume on the hands.
SEIKO SNE597, period
Solid rec 🫡 So many good Seikos
Timex is an homage watch so that should have opened the door to other homages as well like the invicta pro diver, the Steinhart watches or even the San Martin watches. It is funny how some brands get roasted for homages and others get a pass.
I have the Tissot Seastar and I cannot recommend it. I would definitely go for the Seiko. 🕐⚙️🍸
Hi there. What dont you like? I have never had it on the wrist, but to me it looks very nice.
@ Hello there, it sits very high. But that is not the main point. The lume is too weak for a dive watch (at least on mine) and the bezel is a disaster. I kinda don't like how much the latest ocean king looks like a sub and lacks it's own design identity, but I suppose that's a strength here
Lorier would be a great watch if it had a sapphire crystal. Without it, this watch is a joke. Therefore, if someone likes the Lorier but, like me, can't understand why it doesn't have a sapphire crystal they should choose the BALTIC Aquascaphe Classic.

Bb54
The BB54 is the best submariner around nowadays
Just get any San Martin homage and save lots of $$$
They belong in the bin 😂
@chaoseus I guess you never handled one to come up with such an atrocious answer.. lol
I cannot believe the invicta pro diver is not on this. Yeah it is kinda lame ( i love mine tbh had it for years and beat the hell out of it) but it is a watch that many, many people get their start on.
its a homage watch which has no identity whatsoever

Seiko makes so many watches they’re bound to have some design language crossover. Same as any other brand. It’s not that seriois
