    On its own IKEA TRADFRI motion sensor is very simple and not exactly smart. Thanks to NodeRED I'm able to add more features and turn this motion sensor in a truly connected thing!

    Hi Mat. Thanks for making the video, Really enjoyed and learnt a lot about the Node Red, I am sure that I am going to use some of your flow and nodes on my projects. Thanks also for explaining it all as my programming is rather crappy (No problem with building hardware and Tasmota etc.) Keep up the good work

      @@notenoughtech Thanks for the encouragement, lots of good stuff on your web site and I see I got your name wrong, sorry about that. Although my programming skills are low, I think that Node Red if absolutely fantastic, I can actually make things work with it that I could never do with Home Assistant and yaml. Looking forward to next video. I am just playing with a PZEM-004 connected to Tasmota and monitoring house power consumption. I think that your Sunrise Sunset flow is going to help a lot. Maybe you will do a video at some time about PZEM-004. Thanks again

    Mat, are you able to use this information to get a message from let's say mqtt, that motion has been detected? Can you then use this to trigger other devices for automation? I have a Gateway and a few sensors but it looks like getting the motion information without a "hack" is impossible.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  4 года назад +1

      O! I didn't know that's the thing. Can you actually set any options via IKEA hub at all? The lowest timeout setting is the lowest resolution in NodeRED so if you can change that via hub, then you would be able to drop the min value

    Does it work with the new motion sensors as well? I just got one and you cannot manually adjust the timer anymore, the light always stays on 3minutes by default. I have a room where I only want it to be on for lets say 30 seconds

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  4 года назад

      Yes it would. Only retrigger would be affected. As Nodered only needs to know when the sensor is tripped

      @@notenoughtech
      The new ones miss the switch to adjust the timeout.
      After they trigger once the will not send a new signal for 3 minutes.
      In Jonas's case, the motion sensor triggers, lights go on, after 30seconds he switches them of. But after that 30seconds, (no mather if someone moves or not) they will stay turned of for another 2,5minutes.

      to create the timestamp use
      var timeNow= Date.now(); // value in ms
      and to save the timestamp create an array:
      var log = [];
      create the timestamp
      var timeNow = Date.now();
      push to the array
      log.push(timeNow);

    Thanks MAt this worked perfectly! I have a question however. How am I suppose to put 2 sensor for 1 light? I tryed to put 2 mqtt node at the beginning, but it seams like sometimes it's ok and sometimes the light goes off after like 10 sec (I put it at 3 min timeout). Thanks for the help!

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  3 года назад

      You should put 2 MQTT nodes, but you should not pass "false" message. Lights goes off as sometimes ON is issued by one sensor and OFF is sent by another. To fix this split the true and false with switch node and add delay/limit rating for false (so it passes lets say one false every 1 min) this will prevent lights from shutting off too quick while still responding to both sensors
