Hi Yana! I have been using Tretinoin for about 5 years. I started with the lowest dosage (0.025) and worked my way up to the highest (0.1).In the beginning, I was using it a couple of times a week and gradually worked my way up to every night. I live in Calgary, it's very dry here in the winter and I don't get any irritation. The key is to start slowly. I also use Cetaphil moisturizing body cream on my face. It's very thick but works great at preventing irritation and peeling. It takes a while to build a tolerance but you'll be happy that you invested the time and effort. I watched Hot and Flashy and Angie has many videos on how to use tretinoin without irritation. Dr. Dray is great, love her channel. Thanks for another great video!!

I’ve been on prescription tretinoin for 25+ years (yes I’m old 😳) it has completely changed my skin. I regularly get complemented on my complexion and other women want to know what I use. It’s a long haul commitment though. About a year ago I upped my dosage and my skin is still adjusting. I can only use it a couple times a week and just this morning I noticed my chin peeling. But I power through all that because it really REALLY works!

Hey Yana, I completely feel you on the retinol journey, and my experience was exactly the same. I am 38, I started at 36, and followed the same guidance - minimal percentage daily. Now looking back, I can't believe I fell for this completely unnecessary "purging". After a month of awful, painful sensitive skin, I had to stop for 2 months until my skin got back to normal. After that I applied retinol only 1nce a week, when I knew I would not go out the next day and can drench myself in hydrating masks. Like this for 6 months, then moved to 2x per week, at the year's end I increased the percentage. I am currently at 0.5% 2ce a week. My fine lines are gone, my skin is smooth as a baby bottom, without suffering. I figure, there is no need to hurry. I will be using the stuff for the next 30 years, there is time to go to daily aplenty.

Make sure that you’re applying over a moisturizer that has fully dried. Also if your skincare has hyaluronic acid in it, it will drive the tret deeper causing irritation.
Another tip is to start off at a low percentage and use it every other day. Also use sunscreen always! I’ve been on it for over 5 years and still get minor irritation. But my face looks smoother and brighter. I’m on it for life ❤

Hi Yana. I've been using Tretinoin since my early 20s. I just turned 64. Slow and steady. You can't use it daily when starting out. Some people can only use it once a week. Try every 3rd day. Back off of you think it's too much. Wait a half hour after applying, then use a good gentle moisturizer. I'm proud to say, that at my age, I only have crows feet. Just remember, you can't use it if pregnant or nursing.
I'm pretty new to your channel, and I'm immensely enjoying your videos. You are so incredibly knowledgeable about perfumes, which I love.
Being vegan, I just couldn't use a perfume that contained actual deer musk. The animals may not be killed, but how they must be tortured to get their musk expressed.
Thanks, Yana. Have a great weekend. ❤

I’m 40 and have been using tretinoin for over a decade, I regularly get asked my skincare routine and often am told I look 10 or more years younger than I am. The trick to not drying out is to ramp up use slowly, so don’t start out using it every day, instead use it two nights a week for a few weeks then three nights, etc. also, I found that I needed to apply it only after a shower so that my skin was extremely hydrated and I sandwich it between my serums and my moisturizer.

I’ve been using Tret for 2 years with great results and I am 74! Started by cleansing my face and putting a very light moisturizer on. Then waiting half an hour until my skin was completely dry. I then applied a pea size amount with 13 dots around my face avoiding eyes, of nose and sides of mouth. Before bed (around an hour later) apply a night moisturizer. You might want to put Vasiline around your eyes. Had minimal redness, no peeling. A little itching. Now I apply more and can even use it under my eyes. For my age, my skin looks great!

I tried tretinoin for 6 months. It left me with faint red patches on my skin the whole time. I would also have a breakout the following day. I used it roughly about 3 to 4 times a week. I’ve now gone back to Differin. No break outs and my skin is glowing again. I do use it though on the backs of my hands at night and it’s done wonders for sun spots💕

I started Tretinoin roughly 6 months ago and while I never had the "purge", I did have EXTREME skin sensity at first. It felt like I had a terrible sun burn and when I applied the recommended moisturizer, it would BURN like a MF and I'm talking fragrance free balm. I went from using it every other day and now only use it about once a week because the sensitivity was driving me mad. But I have heard great things about it and maybe I'll try using it more...maybe.

My experience with tretinoin..... Use a barrier cream, such as a moisterizer. Then use sparingly, just pat a little on. Use it once a week for 6 weeks(with barrier cream) build up to twice a week after 6 weeks, etc. This is a serious active and my experience has been you're better off being extremely patient with getting you're skin used to it. To see results, (once you're on a decent regimen) is around 3 months. You may only end up with using it twice a week, and that's ok too!

I’ve been on tretinoin for about two years and if I’m not careful, I still get peeling and irritation. I still “sandwich” my tretinoin between moisturizer = moisturizer (wait 25 min), follow with my pearl size application of tretinoin, let it dry, go to sleep, and I wake up splash water on my face and apply my morning moisturizer and sunblock. That’s been my key to getting the benefits without the irritation. Also, be very careful about additional skincare (serums, face washes etc.) less is more when it comes to the other products being used. The tretinoin will do most of the work. The journey is worth it!

I can suggest the sandwich method where you apply a soothing and hydrating serum before you apply the tretinoin and then your moisturizer. The serum really should focus on calming and repairing the skin barrier. Ingredients like Niacinamide and Centella Asiatica are perfect. This way you can use the tretinoin more frequently. And most importantly always wear sunscreen.

  • @fifimsp
    @fifimsp Год назад

    1. I was very lucky with my Retin-A. I got the tube, put it on and for a day my skin was screaming. skipped a day and then I was fine. That's not usual. You might want to do the Sandwich method. You put on your moisturizer. Then the Retin-A. Then another layer of moisturizer and you apply every other day, maybe even only 2 times a week to start. I too follow Dr. Dre! 2. Thank god you said the cartoony thing about Kayali. I bought the layering kit to see if I'd like any. They're fine. But some of them like the apple is pretty, but really, do we want to smell like that? And even the vanilla one people love. I'm trying to see if I'd wear them and I just don't think I will. 3. I love Idole Aura. In fact, I think I tried it because of your recommendation! LOL. 4. One of my favorite lines from a movie is from White Nights. Gregory Hines's character says to Baryshnikov's character, "you use to be Russian" and he replies, "I still am Russian, I'm just not Soviet." So yes, we can separate the government from the people, but yeah, sketchy. Is there some sort of governing body that approves these facilities? That would help. If they were reputable.

In second week for an hour, in the third week 3 hours and then I started keeping it for the whole night. After a few days when I was having too dry and peeling skin, I used it every third day. I took couple of months to build up tolerance.

Saw difference in 3 months and people started commenting on my skin. Been doing it ever since (about 6 yrs). Listen to your skin and back off when you need too. If you mess up your moisture barrier by over doing it, your skin will look worse.

I’ve been on Retin-A for 5 years now and I’m never going back, I’ve been aging backwards ever since. But you need to start low and slow (0.025% 2/week) because if you start too fast, your skin won’t be able to tolerate it and you’ll give up. Trust me, you’ll see results even if you start with the low concentration and don’t use it everyday. I’m on my 5th year now, the results are AMAZING and I’m still skipping days and don’t always use the 1% just because it’s too harsh for my skin. The key is : start slow, build up your tolerance, apply moisturizer before, and wait at least 30 minutes after applying your moisturizer before applying the retin-a. And don’t forget the back of your hands and your neck. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen everyday and you see, you’ll never need botox! 😉

Try once every every three days for the first week or two. Then if they goes well, once ever other day for a few weeks. Your goal is to work up to every day, but you can’t start your journey immediately with using it every day. Also, you can dilute the formula bit with a bit of moisturizer as well, when first starting out. Lastly, make sure her skin is completely dry. After you wash your face wait about 5-10 minutes before applying. I hope your derm started out at a 0.025 or 0.05%❤

Tretinoin is fantastic for anti-aging and skin health overall. I’m surprised that your doctor didn’t recommend that you ease into it by using it every two to three days in the beginning and then very slowly increase to every other day and then eventually every night. Also, make sure to use a high spf on your face religiously every single day because tretinoin cream will make you extra sensitive to sun rays and might make you sunburn much faster and easier.

Retina a is always going to be flaking. What I found was the ointment is better than the gel, and depending on the potency of the tretinoin, you may have to go to a weaker one. If this one might be too strong . I’ve been using it for 20 years. You will see tons of benefits from it, but it will take time.

I had to go on the lowest dose and took about a year to get to five days a week. Had a really bad allergic reaction to something and had to start over again because I couldn't use it for about 3 weeks. I haven't moved up the dose. I was just about to when I had the reaction to something

What percentage tretinoin did you start off with? Also the cream vehicle is easier to tolerate for drier skin types (vs gel)

Kayali gave us Elixir 11, Sweet Diamond pink pepper, Utopia Vanilla Coco, Vanilla Royale, Invite Only, Dejavu White Flower. Nothing Cartooney about those.
There is only one, two if you count Yum, youthful fragrance but still don’t strike me as “Cartoony”.
It’s okay to not resonate with the brand or like anything they put out, but to reduce someone’s work as “cartooney”, is unfair, untrue and gives off mean girl vibes no matter how soft the voice in the delivery.

Doctors don’t tell you to mix an extremely small amount of Tretinion with your favorite moisturizer.

I'm not against the deer musk. We put trust into leather, honey, beeswax, meat manufacturing, etc. There is an elk farm near where I live, it would be good to know they harvest as much as possible from the animals as possible besides just the meat.

That's fair! I've just seen some pretty horrific videos of animal product manufacturing in the past so I'm scarred for life 🙈
