Max speed is different for different weapons but for knife (which is fastest) it is 250. The M4 rifles allow a slightly faster movement over the AK btw 225 vs 215 respectively. Speed while running with bomb is also 250.

Yeah, 250 is the default speed in the other CS games so that's what I thought too haha
Something players don't talk about is the anticipation required to counter strafe. counter strafing when you see an enemy is less effective than counter strafing to fight a common position.

I like to think of it as taking slices out of a pie. Jiggling an angle and peaking a bit further very time to clear the next angle. Good way to bait out shots sometimes too

except when they counter strafe to fight a "common position" they only "prefire" that spot when you are actually there. in the sense that they didn't CHECK to see if you were there, they just peak and shoot. proving they cheat. not a single player can accurately guess your camped location 100% and prefire you every time. only cheaters do that because they wallhack or have trigger-bot which shoots for them the moment you appear.
the majority of people I see screaming "youre just bad, learn to counter strafe" are actually cheating. because when you watch the replay, they didn't ACTUALLY stop moving. they were in full movement and got a one tap headshot screaming "learn to counter strafe noob".... learn not to use cheats....
according to steam when they first released statistics with vacnet (the ai anti-cheat) they said 80% of the players in wingman lobbies were cheating. eighty fucking percent.... and that's with 90% AI accuracy meaning only 10% of their total data was false positives. that is fucking horrific. then you apply that "most players today cheat" mentality to every other game. rainbow6siege recently said they wont ban cheaters, instead they will increase their recoil higher and higher until the game becomes unplayable. except cheaters are, wait for it, already fucking cheating, so the increase recoil isn't going to affect them..... why wont they just BAN all the cheaters outright? because their gaming population would drop below half of what they currently see. Same goes for call of duty. same goes for counter strike. I can only hope that CS2 they actually ban cheaters, according to leaked data that once a cheater is banned the match will end and no side wins. this gives me hope that vac-net would be released fully and allowed to ban players on the spot instead of putting them into a stupid "overwatch queue" and allowed to cheat for 6 months or more (yes, valve actually lets most cheaters continue to cheat for months, ruining the game for everyone, only to ban them monthly later, because and I quote "they dont want the cheater to know WHICH cheats got them banned".... as if cheaters have 10 different cheats on their system for one game.... ridiculous.

It's kind of funny how some players might be losing aim duels purely because of their movement, when movement is something that's not really a consideration for most people in a game like Counter-Strike.
For me getting started in CS a few months ago(70 hours on the clock) movement or my lack of proper movement is what gets me killed the most. That and still moving while shooting. CS kinda goes against everything ive been doing in every shooter up to this point, and it's freaking difficult to get into. Rewarding, but difficult.

@@Regret696I like that about CS. That you are accurate with rifles only when you are still. And that is why counter strafing is so important

Kind of odd but I definitely struggled getting the hang of it early on 5 yrs ago or so, and now my % on leetify is consistently averaging high 80s (current period 89%, last 90%) at 2400 elo in NA. I guess it was because I trained it in aimbots with the cover walls as it felt not natural to me initially but now it is second nature without this prac. I do feel there is always room for improvement though on landing on the angle you want to and not over peeking with it.
Yeah exactly, it all comes down to practice. I’ve always had a high counter strafing on Leetify but after speaking to a few people I realized a big issue of players going round corners with the W key messing up the counter strafing loads
I've been playing CS off and on for more than a decade, and I'm one of those higher ranked faceit players with lower than average counter-strafe stats. It makes sense now, even if I never noticed having bad aim on my peeks. I never thought about how I hold W+A or W+D and never counter with also the S key.

There is no need to go down to 0. You are also very precise with low strafe numbers (like with crouch shooting) With some guns (f.e. smgs) you can even take shoots with full speed... often it s more important not to die then to make the frag...
Just because crouch walking is accurate, does not mean walking is accurate... I'd you are not at 0 speed, or VERY close, it will not be accurate. These are facts.
@@JTheraosdude can you tell me if I’m walking and suddenly an enemy appear what’s the best thing to do to quickly go to velocity 0? Ducking immediately or releasing shift and W? Cause it’s hard to release shift and W and press S at the same time like I’m supposed to.
@@deheimeryou shouldn't even be walking with w if there can be an enemy near you, try to move around as much as you can with A or D 👍

I knew this was a thing but it's nice to have a refresh as I have dipped in and out of CS since around 2016 recently came back and the other day I got frustrated I wasn't hitting my shots now thinking I probably was holding 'W' while going around corners. Also nice to know about a good practice workshop map as I have just stuck with super old ones from when I first got into the game and even then I usually just use deathmatch as a warm up/practice

You could have explained how to use the counter step. Do you just tap the opposite key, do you press it for half a second, is it a feeling that you have to get used to?
Just tap it and let go of opposite. Keys input are automatically determined if there just single time input or held down.
Or hold down both keys.
Both ways work and holding down both is easier to do while learning.
How do I fix my Air strafe. I always jump forward, I tap A and D while jumping forward and I cant strafe. Its just going forward when I jump. Is it a bug in the game? I was able to easily air strafe before. It just didn't work magically.
I wonder what the counter strafe percentage is for pros when they play their pro matches
Yeah that is a good question, I’m not really sure. It would be cool to find out though
I learned a 70-80 % counter strafe very early in my csgo career when I still had like 20 hours since my much experienced friends would teach me the most bizarre advanced things instead of going over the basics. nowadays it is around 85-93 % or so at around 2000 hours so not much progress but it is hard to get consistent 90+ and you don't even need that most of the time
same here, i get ~90% most of the times, but i rarely find myself failing a counter strafe, other than w-s counterstrafe, so that could be the difference maker for you too, which in my case i dont find to be all that important.
why dont push both keys at the same time? if i press a and then push d and not let go of a it stops with none penalty
holding both keys is the same as simply releasing one key in terms of speed - meaning it is SLOWER than releasing the key and tapping the opposite key.
finally a video that makes sence of Counter Strafing, no one i asked could understand that i pressed 2 keys round a corner.

a long time ago I saw a streaming talking about shifting while counter strafing, it's needed to press shift alongside the opposite button to stop completely and be accurate or is like valorant when you only need to press the opposite button?
You don't have to press shift you will stop but more slower + counter strafing in valorant is useless

LOL. You reset your aim to reduce recoil by stopping movement, so when you go A/D to peek corners, you literary stop for a sec to reset, allowing you to straighten a few shots with an AK before going spray. Counter Strafing is something you use when you wide swing, but the enemy is too close, so you force stop, reset, and shoot.

I am embarrassed to say my counter strafing is at an abysmal like 40% on leetify and I know it's because I use w way too much, and I know I don't focus on it enough so I forget to do it properly etc. Currently mainly playing LEM MM. So by no means any good at the game but it's overwhelming to both properly counter strafe, do recoil control, crosshair placement and have your teammates not communicate or have McDonald's happy meal microphones so you have to use 99% of your brain thinking about what the even fuck is going on in the game and what you should probably be doing. There's so much shit to think about all the time. I feel like, when I actually just isolate and only think about counter strafing it usually goes to above 60-70% which is what leetify will classify as not being an embarrassment to your extended family tree. So it's probably just a matter of doing one thing at a time and sacrificing all else in the game until you get it right.
If you just get into the habit of practicing your counter strafing, it will come naturally without you having to think about it buddy
@@Glazecoaching it's true. The one thing I have at global lvl (even better according to leetify) is my crosshair placement. That's one thing I always kept in mind since I was a silver III and now it's just second nature to always keep proper angles without thinking about it.

When Counter strafing should I let go on the original key before clicking the opposite key or hold it? ( example A then let go, then quick D key click) or ( A then click D while still holding A kick?)
You just tap the opposite key, and let go of the original key

I've thought about this. Hypothetically speaking "wasd" is suboptimal as you can never counter strafe front to back from "w" and "s". Doesn't mean I'm brave enough to switch control schemes though.
That's why you don't check corners with W
dont forget to say you have to shift peek while training your counterstrafing
I'm wondering though, won't the stats be wonky if you play with smgs some rounds where you don't need to counter-strafe? Or does it only count instances where it picks up the opposite movement key stroke and calculates if you were sufficiently accurate at those instances?
don't fall for the cult of stats. they're not everything. you just have to make a good judgement
You kind of still need to counter-strafe in some situations even with SMGs and yes, the stats will be a bit wonky. Though, what Leetify doesn't account for is proper counter-strafing. I don't even counter-strafe properly. I stop moving simply by letting go my A, W, S or D buttons and sometimes by crouching and it registers as counter-strafing on Leetify. I average around 85 to 90% counter-strafing this way.
@@l.m.a.9861 Yeah, that's not counter-strafing at all then. So that leetify stat is just plain wrong. I guess it only looks for if a shot was accurate while stopping from a A or D movement, or something like that.
I would strongly recommend you learn to counter-strafe though, it's a core mechanic and makes a world of difference.
@@BobWill1846 Yes, but Leetify is meant as a tool to guide yourself into a better player, and it does so by showing numbers. If it says a guy who doesn't counter-strafe at all has 90% counter-strafe, then the stat is faulty and can't be used as a guide at all, and that's what I was trying to figure out.

I have a problem, my counterstrafing and strafing at all is awful because of input lag, whenever I press the key and release it as soon as it possible the game have a slight delay then it’s the movement, but it’s not all, the game also still hold it for more than I need, so my strafes are way more longer than I expect, and after the animation finally done and I press the opposite key it also have a delay so it works not correctly and it ruins every movement aspect in the game, its nearly impossible to escape if you accidentally opened up too much on the opponent and you didn’t expect him to be here, it’s impossible to peek tight angles, you will just stop randomly either in the middle of the space or it the wall itself, you have absolutely zero control of your model, I have 2.5k hours in this game I know what I’m talking about, I tried to go in the pc clubs in my city, in most of them is this problem, and I don’t know how to fix it, I tried multiple windows tweaks game settings, I changed my whole pc configuration, I tried multiple steam accounts, I tried different periferia keyboards and mouses it doesn’t make sense, it’s so painful to play like that…
Yeah that is weird, I’m not exactly sure why that could be. Maybe you have packet loss when playing?

I have a really bad habit instead of tapping like example peeking a corner Im holding A Instead of tapping D Im holding A and D at the same time and why leetify gives me 92%+ counter strafing accuracy like what?

yeah if you press both at the same time they counter act each other and you wont move, so the counter strafing stat on leetify should be good, its a habit I wouldn't worry about too much

As a lvl 3. My counter strafe this period is 82%, my cross hair placement is 10.8… my spray, enemy spotted acuracy and positioning needs serious work. How ever I know I can’t win games unless I drop 40 so 🤷♂️ w key it is

What exactly does an 90% on counterstrafing mean on Leetify?
I believe it’s to do with bullet accuracy after moving. However I could be wrong
@@Glazecoaching I kind of thought it was basically "what fraction of your bullets shot were done when you were moving too fast to be accurate" which means if you stand still like a turrent, its a 100%. No counter strafing needed?

Were you ever counterstrafing, meaning you tapped go left to end a right peek or you tapped go right to end a left peek? Maybe, the statistic is messed up and counts stuff as counterstrafing that isn't.

Crouching will lower your player model and also your crosshair placement. Resulting in the compensation for spray control without the need to move your mouse

2:10 that's the greatest bs I ever heard. Mastering double key strafe is the goal. You peak in a weird speed and angle so your opponent will be kinda confused, not always but many time is better way to get around a corner. Just watch and compare how it looks in the game.
how can a lvl 10 faceit player have 50%, even in my nova mm matches most players are arround 70 - 80%
It's the guy with an SMG, so you get 50% Counter Strafing and 60% of spray accuracy. It's most likely the guy was playing B ramp, on Nuke

If your talking about shifting then it does slow you down quickly but it isn’t instant
