He's stuck in an endless cycle of complacency and settling for less/underachieving, deals with depression stemming from his father dying, has dreams but holds himself back and unconsciously takes it out on everyone around him, Bill Burr comes in as new Dad, they have a rough go of it at first but ultimately Bill imparts some great lessons/knowledge on Pete and encourages him to leave his Mom's house and pursue his dreams, Pete finally decides to take a risk and chase his dreams and gets the fuck off Staten Island. Oh, there's gonna be a scene with a girl/hometown love interest that makes him reconsider what he's doing with his life. WOW, FUCKING GAME CHANGER OF A MOVIE WE HAVE HERE BOYS. I'm still gonna see it because it looks great.

She never doubted and always believed in me no matter what, the day her partner left us I hugged her and said the exact same thing as Pete “Don’t worry Mom, you still got me and you’ll always have me” It was the day of her funeral I truly found out how she felt about me by talking with her work colleagues, she thought I was no good low life smoking pot & playing video games all day, only pulling my weight to the bare minimum and she’s right but never, not once expressed it to me. my mom and dad are from staten island. dad walked the same school halls as scott davidson, only a few years older. i am from nj but i learned to count by numbering the beams going over the bridge to see my grandparents, still there on both sides. on 9/11 the town i grew up in sustained the most losses in any town in america including five people we knew and loved. my parents knew so many staten island firefighters who died trying to save people that day, they lost count. i grew up with kids whose parents didnt come home that day and I held on to hope longer than i like to admit, that it was all a nightmare. I know better now. I cry hysterically everytime i see this trailer. everyone affected deserved a different world from what it became for us. But I think they watch over us. I think their spirits walk their daughters down the aisle, i think they lay kisses on their grandchildren's cheeks. I hope this freed a part of Pete Davidson intertwined with that day.
I've never been super into Pete's standup but reading about him and seeing this I realize I've gone through a lot of the similar shit as this dude and I cope through laughter and comedy too. Shit I use to watch standup with my Dad before school, or we'd listen to comedy tapes in the car, and we would either laugh our heads off or make fun of the unfunny comics. Those times with my Pops inspired me to do standup. He's passed on now but man I'll tell you, being on stage and making him(the funniest man i ever knew) and the comedy club go nuts and die laughing was an experience I'll never forget and im thankful that my Dad was my best fucking friend and my biggest fan. Due to the day being beautiful I was late and we were in the lobby when the tower was hit. My brother lost all of the people he worked with. He committed suicide about 6 years ago from survivor's guilt. I'm a lawyer and I've battled my own demons with depression and drugs as my brother but my work for others pushes me forward. Pete's story is very familiar with 9/11 families but I've always admired what he's been through and how he put a positive spin on it. I have great respect for firefighters and what I saw that day and the days after, it brings tears to my eyes thinking about it. That Pete uses dark humor to deal with it, it's kinda the best way, I make jokes that cause people to look twice. The movie looks really good but I think it's emotional and there are so many douche bags in the world people may tear it apart. I think it will be hard for people to see Pete Davidson in such a role. As a society, we tend to tear down people when they are at their most vulnerable. The courage to put his life on display more than it is already, the people that judge the crazy shit he does, I can just see the assholes laughing at the concept of a guy (guys don't get emotional) crying about the loss of his dad. To all of you that weren't alive or too young for 9/11; it was the most terrifying and defining day of many lives. Things I saw, I've never talked about because they were too horrible to imagine.

I’m normally not into these kinds of movies, but straight up, this looks fantastic from the trailer. It also looks real. Like the experience a 24 year old Staten Island kid would actually have, not something a filmmaker imagined a kid would experience and filmed, presenting it as reality.
I really think this is going to be an amazing movie. I’m really happy for Pete, he deserves success. Especially sharing such an intimate part of his life.

I’m normally not into these kinds of movies, but straight up, this looks fantastic from the trailer. It also looks real. Like the experience a 24 year old Staten Island kid would actually have, not something a filmmaker imagined a kid would experience and filmed, presenting it as reality.
