So aptly described - the essence of the Kalahari: "There is an overwhelming sense of freedom ..belonging to a world which feels real and untouched of peace ... living in harmony with the land far from the noise of everyday life .. its more than an adventure - a way of being."

“Xade” aka the oasis in the CKGR 😂 I pronounce it like you would Xhosa a click on the top of your mouth. 🤷🏻♂️ But yes Xade bathrooms are a welcome rest after long days and nights in the bush. When you said Xade to Deception I knew “hier kom 'n lang dag” having done it last year! Animal sightings are the luck of the draw. Spent 5 nights in CKGR and only heard Lion. What time of year was your trip? Piper pan looked devoid of any vegetation. Excited for next weeks episode. No pressure😜
Haha another great comment from a fellow adventurer. The “Oasis of Xade” aptly named. We wear that stretch of road(Xade - Deception Valley) like a badge of honor and it was a “lang dag” indeed. We were there in early May. Botswana had already declared the drought for 2024. We hypothesized most of the animals were driven north because of the drought. We followed endless lion spoor heading northward.
Pronounced Xade perfectly twhe first time. And the Xade in New Xade is the same... the stratch of sand between the two is nice and thick 😊 hope you enjoyed!
@@matthewsollyn6732 Thanks…this is confidence inspiring to pronounce the place names correctly. Africa is pleasantly colourful in a way your mouth does not expect sometimes😂 We loved the sandy stretch but not the scratchy bush. Thank for your great comment. 👍
Slowly does it. The journey is the destination. Though i must say that looks like a loooong day in the seat😮). No wild camping spots inbetween? Arriving at night would make Ronny Dahl happy. That late afternoon sun ambiance is awesome. Loved the "flying banana" 😂 checking out the prospect of dropped mielies... 😊. Thanks again...
It was really slow going, wild camping bit tricky, and not to sure of the lay of the land, with regards to choosing that option. At one point we did explore the notion, but instead decided to push on, happy we did as it was such a cool campsite and spending 3 days there really allowed us to uitspan, download and relax. That flying banana amused us to no end, he was literally drooling whilst keeping an eye on the mielies 🤣🤣 Thanks for the questions and comments. 👍🏼
No wild camping in the national park allowed only designated and booked sites (which are prety wild). I drove to piper pan from sunday pan just for 1 night 2 years ago, so back the next day. Last stretch of 50 km to piper pan non stop corregations and whoop-die-whoops (non stop speed bumps). Should have stayed there several nights. But you did many more kilometers on long stretches like that. I respect you for staying positive and looking happy, off course being in the absolute wild makes up for all the harshness, but still. Around piper pan spoor of lion, leopard and cheetah. More grass, and that was in july. Did see Lion that just had stolen kill from two cheetahs close to lethiahau water hole on the way. Save travels
@@IddoRoscher Wow nice comment. Looks like you extracted the most of of your trip to the CKGR. It is always nice to reflect. In the moment one forgets how other worldly these places are until we are teleported back to our city scapes. We did not see any lions. We saw a lot of spoor heading north. This did not take away from the whole experience.
Hi just a heads up don't fly the drone in the park they will lock you up.unless you have a permit to fly in a certain GPS area. You also need to get permission to bring it in to Botswana. Take care

We did the same trip last year Oct... those bumpy roads require a sports bra... not my words but my dear wife's...😂
🤣I was wondering Niel, but I do concur with your wife 🙌😉
LOL it was so bumpy I felt like I needed a man bra!
@@troopyinafrica 🤣 Your are so practical sometimes. Next time it should be mandatory to wear a man bra on that stretch of road.👍
